Antique Stoneware: Fine 19thC. PA Redware Crock or Jar, Semi-Ovoid, Lead Glaze
Whether you call this a Cream Jar. Crock or Planter, one thing is for sure: this is a monumental 19thC. piece of Redware! Unmarked, but having a capacity of 4Gal. this extra-large Jar will be at home in any Antique Stoneware collection. This is a well-made piece by a highly skilled artisan; probably a Pennsylvania pottery, ca.1860 or earlier. The Semi-Ovoid form is topped with a slightly-squared lip profile. The exterior is unglazed, with age-appropriate wear and typical imperfections throughout. The Lead-Glazed interior is superb! Very reminiscent of Redware Cream Jars created by the Bell Family, with a slightly narrower lip profile. Please see photos for details and consider them as part of the description. Beautiful cobalt decorated stoneware crock. It has fabulous decoration which looks like leaves on a vine. It also looks like hearts. It is marked on the front and I believe it to say West Troy Pottery. It measures 7.5 tall and 8 inches across the top. It has a couple of OLD chips on the front and a couple of very small flea bites on one ear. There is also a tight crack on one side. There are lots pf pictures. None of this distracts from the appearance. This stoneware crock is not in mint condition so if you are wanting mint please don't bid. This is an old utilitarian piece and used as such. Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. England, in the late 1800s(1870s 1880s) It is 6.75 inches tall and is pale gray on the bottom and light brown on the top. It bears the Tamworth oval mark and the C& B triangle with square mark. It is in very good condition with no overt damage. There are some black marks or residue on bottom and there is a small chip on bottom edge which appears it could have been a manufacturing defect—I mention only for completeness I do combine shipping to save you money on multiple items.

Antique Stoneware, Salt-Glazed Brown Crock, Catawba Valley, Carolina Primitive
Exceptional quality. Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. Looks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots ... morearound the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. This is an Antique Lord Stoutenburg& Co. Chicago Stoneware Crock. This is a cool old crock and it really shows it's age. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any information on this company. I did find a bunch of Stoutenburg genealogy information but nothing that led to this business. There are a couple of hairline cracks and one major repair to this crock so please inspect the pictures very carefully. It has a couple of minor chips out of the top lip. It is quite obvious this crock will not hold liquids and cannot be used for canning or sauerkraut but for a collector, it would be a great find as I have yet to see another like it. Up for bid is an Antique. Albany, Brown Slip Glaze, Wide Mouth, Bee hive, Crock Jug. The crock is 8-3/4 inches tall and the base is 5- 7/8 inches in diameter. The crock does have a good sized chip, and a smaller one, on the top outside edge, near the handle which someone painted brown(picture 3) Couple more chips on the opposite side(picture 5) There is also an imperfection that was done when the crock was made(picture 4) in the middle of the handle. It is a rough spot and the glaze is a little weird. Also, to the right of the handle in(picture 4) there is a chip in the body of the jug. There are also two other rough spots in the glaze at the base of jug on one side(picture 2) Picture#2 only shows one of the spots. Even with all the imperfections it is still makes for a nice display piece. This is an authentic antique stoneware jug which measures approximately 8-1/2 inches tall by 7-1/2 inches in diameter. It has a chip at the neck. See picture, and several small"flaws" on the body, see pictures. There are not any cracks that I can find. There are marks on the jug which might appear in the pictures to be cracks but they are really just marks(possible pencil marks) This jug was found under a really old house in Texas about 70 years ago. It is a heavy piece, nearly 5 pounds. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. A lovely large crock with a great ovoid shape and applied handles. It has a heavy and dark cobalt blue flower and leaf design that borders the top half of the crock. Old Antique Primitive Canning Crock Jar Stoneware Salt Glaze Crazing
HELLO and thanks for looking at our auction! Today we have an old antique crock that we think may have been a canning crock many years ago. It looks like a date on the bottom but we can't quite make it out but we have taken pictures of it. It has lots of flaws and chips around the top and lots of staining and crazing. There is also a hairline crack in the top and we have tried to show it in the pictures. This old crock measures 6 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" across the bottom and 4 1/4" across the top. The rim is 1/2" thick around the top and it is very heavy. It weighs 3 1/2 pounds. It is missing the bale but the holes for the bale are still intact. It is also missing the lid. This old Crock is still very pretty even with all the chips. Stains and flaws. It has lots of crazing all over the outside and inside, and would look ... moregood with the old primitives collection. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. I have a lot of Mission furniture and this is a nice accent piece. This is a thick, heavy little jug, thus the shipping cost. This is a great price as

Up for auction is 1 antique crock This crock is yellowish/brown in color and is in really good shape. For this crocks age it is in excellent shape. I try to let everyone know about any imperfections so here are a few. It has a small impurity on the rim from when the crock was made. I would guess it was a air bubble when the crock was molded out. I have a picture of the impurity. It has a hairline crack at the start of the rim. Please look at all the pictures. I have tried to take pictures of everything that was irregular. It has a couple of pretty good cracks in it so you won't be able to make your favorite sauerkraut recipe with it but it will make an incredible display and addition to your collection. An antique stoneware crock. Handpainted cobalt with 3 cherries and 2 leaves. Has a couple factory pock marks and a few minor chips around the rim. One tight hairline crack runs the length of the back side and has a couple small branches coming off it. Another small hairline on the bottom two inches. Also on the back. No cracks on the front of the jar. Other than that, super condition. The color on this one is fantastic. Perfect gray with beautiful cobalt cherries. No odd colors or fading anywhere.
