COLLECTED IN 1880S AND PART OF MY OWN EXTENSIVE ... moreCOLLECTION OF ANTIQUE SOUTH EAST ASIAN CERAMICS This auction includes both Tak Om Koi Ceramic Plate in a unique Fish Design and bottle vase. This classic green and white Burmese ceramic style was discovered in the Tak Om Koi region. In 1983-4, when the Tak Om Koi Burial Sites were found along the Thai-Myanmar border this unusual Burmese ceramic production came to light. Prior to this very little was known of this ware and even to this day it is often known as lanna thai ware. But the idea that Martaban had produced ceramic jars was already widespread. In addition, the green glazed plaques at Bagan were well-known and red earthenware pottery had been discovered in many archaeological sites in burma. Both of these pieces are from the original excavation in the tak hilltop area and both are 100% genuine in every way. The red ground is covered with an opalescent white with inglaze green decoration of bird- fowl and typical south east asian border patterns that are very burmese in style, the large charger is heavilly crackled as the pictures show and has a firing crack and a small frit to the rim, and although excavated and very old is a fine example of this rare ware, the bottle vase is also in very good shape for age, both are outstanding and very very rare pieces, in my many years as a dealer and collector of south east asian antiques very few of these amazing rare inglaze green wares have ever surfaced, proving the rarity of such pieces, i have a small collection of these pieces collected over a very long period of time and intend to keep only 2 examples(if interested to see others contact me through my ebay) these reluctantly i am selling due to downsizing my collection and the need of space in my home, i hope that they will go on to a collector of fine antique south east asian ceramics where they desrve to grace any collection. size of charger- dish 10 in

It may be an antique. But I don't know for sure. It looks dirty with spots all over it on the outside. The inside looks much cleaner and is coated with a glazing of some kind. There is a chip on the rim edge and bottom edge. See photo for chip on the rim edge. I couldn't get a good picture of the chip on the bottom edge because it blends in to the coloring so well. This is a really old ceramic crock kind of pot. I don't know much about it other than my wife got this years ago in an old barn in Maine. It is 9 1/2 inches tall and base is 7 inches diameter. The outside is not glazed and just has much"character" The inside is glazed. I am not sure what this was used for. Perhaps making pickles? There is no lid for it and there is a slight chip in the top rim. I can see no maker's mark. Although there is no maker's name on this pot, it still cries out for attention from collectors. This has so much character and eye-appeal. It would look great sitting in the corner or on a shelf filled with dryied flowers or perhaps?

FAB antique English ceramic/pottery Stilton cheese crock or canister London
Fabulous antique ceramic stilton cheese crock. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks or repairs. There are a few glaze pops but mentioning only for accuracy. On the front is embossed: Finest Stilton Cheese on the top and Redgate& Co. London below the applied crest. There are a few cracks in the applied lion and unicorn crest but I believe these were present when the crest was applied to the crock because it looks and feels to me that the glaze is on top of the cracks suggesting that the cracks were present before the crock was glazed. I could be wrong. But I believe I am right. On the back of the crock is embossed: Doulton and Lambeth. It is a good size, measuring 5 1/8 in diameter by 5 1/2 in height. This is primitive in style. It seems like someone tried to remove some of the blue glaze, either during it's making or later. There are no chips or cracks. This is unmarked to my knowledge. Antique Two Tone Glazed Footed Ceramic Crock/Urn w/Curled Handles
This large 3 quart crock/urn is made in the US and is hand thrown and has two curled handles attached to it on either side giving it the appearance of an urn(pictured#1 thru#4) It is considered crockery as it is oven proof and made from very thick pottery with a very durable over glaze giving it a glossy look. The top half of this urn has a rich burnt umber under glaze color and the bottom half and underside is a very nice putty under glaze color giving this piece a country kitchen look. The interior has a burnt umber under glaze with a clear glossy over glaze applied to it also(pictured#3) There is no cover unfortunately but; few covers survive the test of time like this one. With the inception of crockery farmers and city folk alike could cure pickles. Sauerkraut. And other very ethnic foods as well as bake in ovens with these items. The ... morecrock/urn measures 7 3/4" tall X 9" at its widest point X 5 1/2" deep and 4 1/2" inside diameter on top) if you should find a cover. It is in good condition for its age however. There are two hairlines on one side(zoom-in picture#2) And a few hairlines on the underside(zoom-in picture# 4) The hairlines are only on the very surface of this piece and are not on the inside and are probably from high oven temperatures. Nonetheless they add a little charm to an otherwise perfect piece. The base of this piece has three raised feet and will not leave watermarks on tableware. Crock/urns like this one are highly collectible and displayed at collector shows and even judged on the beauty, shape and functionality. There are several pottery associations in the US and abroad. Other than their collectible value they make great kitchen shelf/counter items, floor vases, hearth accessories, and even center pieces on the dining table for floral displays. This is an authentic Herty Pot from the days of turpentine in Florida. It was used to collect sap from pine trees whose trunk had been scarred to make them drip this sticky product used for many products. Sap collecting. Then to the turpentine still where it was processed. These camps were famous in the song about" owe my soul to the company store" Workers were used to do the labor and pay was chits that could be redeemed in the"Boss Man's" store(Commissary) The boss man owned where you lay your head and it was hard to ever get out of the circle of working the cycle. These heavy clay pots did not have a hole in the bottom so sap would collect. A hole in the side was used to hang the pot on the tree under a cut and sap directed into the pots with metal guides directing the flow. 7 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches across top, ... more2 3/4 inches across bottom. University of Georgia chemist Charles Herty revolutionized turpentine production by designing a clay pot known as the Herty cup. Which could be suspended from a nail in the tree. This allowed shallower tree cuts to be made above the cup. Gum dripped into metal gutters tacked to the tree, and then flowed into the cup. The Herty cup-and-gutter system was patented in 1902 and quickly replaced the more primitive box method of resin collection. The turpentine industry saw renewed productivity, and Georgia regained its leading. The industry grew so rapidly that by 1890 Georgia was the national leader in naval stores production. Antique stoneware crock bowl with antique ceramic cow creamer.
Antique 5" crock bowl. Tan color with pink and blue stripes around the outside. It has a piecrust edge around the top. The bottom of the bowl says USA on it. A little wear around the top edge from time. The cow creamer is about 6" wide and about 2" deep. The bowl part is about 3" tall and the total cow is about 5-6" tall. It is a pale aqua. No chips or cracks. The glaze is not crazed.

The blue and white ware with a zigzag design on the top and bottom of the bowl has a very old crack and some chips around the perimeter of the bottom edge, see pics, but nothing outstanding. This is a brown salt glazed stoneware lid with a button on top. It is for a large vessel usually a pickling jar. Or similar utilitarian crock. There are no makers marks that I could see. It measures 11" in diameter& 2 1/2"depth. With a lip of 9" There is a significant chip to the lip that has been repaired as well as a few. Here is a Old Antique Crock Ceramic Glazed Two Quart Bean Pot with Lid. The opening measures 4 3/4" in diameter. Approximately 6 3/4" tall. It weighs a little over 4 pounds. It is in good overall condition for it's age. With heavy crazing and a few chips. It has some maker defects in the glaze, and another defect in the wreath which looks like it was scraped while the paint was wet. Please view all of the photos carefully before bidding.
