Antique Two Tone Beige and Brown 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Stoneware was once an almost universal material in American homes. The versatile. Nonporous ceramic made ideal containers of all kinds, including the ubiquitous stoneware crock. Stoneware is made of gray and tan clays fired to a high temperature. As there were few American producers prior to 1800, most existing antique stoneware crocks date from the 19th century. Offering Antique Two Tone Beige and Brown 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock in good antique condition. Measures 11 1/4" tall and 11.5" in diameter. Crock has a very small crack and it can't hold liquid. Antique Stoneware, Salt-Glazed Brown Crock, Catawba Valley, Carolina Primitive
Exceptional quality. Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. Looks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots ... morearound the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. Up for bid is an Antique. Albany, Brown Slip Glaze, Wide Mouth, Bee hive, Crock Jug. The crock is 8-3/4 inches tall and the base is 5- 7/8 inches in diameter. The crock does have a good sized chip, and a smaller one, on the top outside edge, near the handle which someone painted brown(picture 3) Couple more chips on the opposite side(picture 5) There is also an imperfection that was done when the crock was made(picture 4) in the middle of the handle. It is a rough spot and the glaze is a little weird. Also, to the right of the handle in(picture 4) there is a chip in the body of the jug. There are also two other rough spots in the glaze at the base of jug on one side(picture 2) Picture#2 only shows one of the spots. Even with all the imperfections it is still makes for a nice display piece. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. This stoneware crock came from an auction in Vermont. Unfortunately the lid goes not match the crock. The crock has a nice brown color. There are no cracks. Some light chipping on the top rim, please see all pictures. It measures 7 3/8" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. It holds 8 cups of liquid when full. Nice piece. Antique Stoneware Brown Slip-Glaze/salt-Glaze storage crock Crock Jug
This antique salt-glazed stoneware jug is a throwback to moonshine days and prohibition. And a great slice of American history. Some of the glaze has chipped away from the jug. But it's in fantastic shape for its age. Jug is water safe. There is two minor cracks on the handle kinda looks like the handle and mouth piece were glued back on. Antique 1880s Brown Stoneware Pitcher
This auction is for a beautiful antique brown stoneware pitcher. It has a chip and several flakes on the rim that can be seen in the pictures and a tight 2" crack near the handle from the rim down. Otherwise. It is in excellent condition. There are several spots and color variations on the piece but these have existed from the time of its manufacture. There is some very faint writing on the bottom of the pitcher that appears to be a date 1881 or 1887. The pitcher is 9 3/4" tall and 5 1/8" in diameter at the base.

Up for sale is an Antique whiskey? apple cider Jug/ Crock Jug. It measures 9" tall by 7 1/2" wide by itself. Its 12 1/2" tall with the handle up. This is a great looking jug but it does have a few issues. there is the chip on the lip of the spout, it only shows on the one side you can spin it around for display and it does not show. Also there is a chip on the bottoms edge. the handle has weather wear to it like sun rot, and the wire is rusted but the handle is still working fine. this is a great jug and it has a great look. it needs a big cork for the top and its ready for display. please email with any questions, I have 4 more of these type jugs listed now in my store, thank you.

Antique Vintage Weir Stoneware Brown Canning Crock with Wire closure
This is a Weir Canning Crock with a Patent March 1st 1892 as identified on the lid. It still has the original working wire closure but it is rusty. There are no noted chips or cracks. The inside is clean. With the vintage age there is some crazing on the cream colored area of the crock. I personally took this piece out of my grand mothers old farm house kitchen basement crawl space. It was sitting beside several old crocks and several large bolders(rocks) which were supporting the old house so I know they have been there for years. The house has been in the family for 100 years. Set of 3 Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Cheese and Pickle Crocks
This is a set of 3 old crocks. Two of which have the lids and wire and the one in the center of the photo is missing the lid and wire. All are in great shape but have some light surface chipping on the bottom edge- nothing major at all. Photo 4 shows one of the cheese crocks having a tiny surface nick in the outer rim. The crocks on each side are the cheese crocks and measure 4" tall without the lids. The center pickle crock has the holes in the side for the wire but as stated, it is missing the lid and wire. It measures 3 3/4" tall and has a 4 1/4" base. There are no rings with either. Great for use or just a primitive display! All items are weighed on an accurate US postal scale with an estimated total weight after packaging. She moved from the family farm in 1960. She remembers the crock as a small child. She was born in 1920 so this crock is definitely an antique. Great condition. No chips. A couple very light. Glaze hairline cracks that you need extra light to see& doesn't take away or cause any issues. The stoneware crock is 6" tall& 5.75" across the top. Two tone or two shades of brown. This is a wonderful old crock pitcher! It was made by U.S.A. and is in the Grape& Leaf design. I believe this piece to be over 80 years old. But I do not know the exact date it was manufactured. The glaze is a rich brown with a cream tone on the inside. The pitcher stands around 5 3/4" in height and is about 8" across at the handle/spout. A very nice piece!

Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Antique? brown jug with handle. Crock pottery whiskey Measures 8 inches tall. 6-1/2 inches wide; 20" around. There are several"imperfections" in the glaze and surface of the jug. There are some"scratches" which might be a signature which you can see in the 2nd picture, near the bottom, about the middle. The cork is inside the jug; it is falling apart. The cork fell inside the jug when I tried to remove it to see what might be inside. There is chip out of the bottom edge- see picture 11. Next to last picture. Weight is 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Background on this jug- This jug belonged to my stepfather who passed away several years ago. He was born in 1914. He was making and selling moonshine at the age of 10- for a nickel a bottle(if I remember correctly what he ... moretold me) He was plowing a 40-acre field at the age of 11- with a team of mules. I don't know when or where he acquired this jug. It sat on his front porch for years. You can look at the pictures and make your own judgment about the age. He lived in the Sand Mountain area for a while in his youth so he could have gotten it there.

It has a rich, dark brown glossy glaze with a silvery/green iridescence. The 1st and 2nd photos are the closest in color to the actual. The shot of the interior is not as dark as my photo. It is not marked. Size: 7 1/8"d X 5"h- approx. dimensions Quantity: 1- Crock Condition: VERY GOOD- no cracks but there are couple. Shallow chips on the top lip. One is just inside the lip, and the other is on the outside. Neither are bad(1/4"d) and they just add to it's primitive appeal. There are many tiny scratches in both the exterior and interior from years of use. The glaze is fabulous and there are bubbles, glaze pops, skipped glaze, and flakes- all factory flaws. This dark brown vintage/antique glazed stoneware crock has an interesting shape. Different from most. It stands 7” high. Is 5 7/8” across the bottom and 4 1/2” across at the top opening. It is in very good condition. There is one small chip at the base. Almost invisible unless turned upside down. There is an interesting effect on one side where it looks like the glazing was applied unevenly. With some of the stoneware surface still showing through. There is no lid.

Offered is this vintage or antique dark brown stoneware double-handled four-gallon churn. The churn has a few problems. The most obvious of which is that one of the handles is broken. It also has numerous minor small chips in the glazing. There is no lid. Otherwise. The piece is good, with no cracks or rim chips. ANTIQUE Minnesota Stoneware Co. Red Wing Minn - Brown Glaze - circa 1883-1906
Lone Star Americana presents for your consideration an antique piece of stoneware from the Minnesota Stoneware Co made in Red Wing. MN. The piece is marked(see photo#7) it reads. MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING MINN" This crock was made by the Minnesota Stoneware Co and was founded in Red Wing. MN in 1883. In 1906 the Minnesota Stoneware Co merged with the Red Wing Stoneware Co to form the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. This means this crock was made between 1883 and 1906 and is pre-Red Wing; thus. More rare. This crock is the less common 84 ounce(65 gallon) size which means it was used more for seasonal preserves where quantities were fewer. This crock was made for canning and is called a wax sealer meaning it likely never came with a lid as the items inside would have been sealed in wax for longer term storage. Although the lid in the ... morephoto was hand painted and itself is vintage it came decades after. This crock was glazed in the dark brown manganese type glaze which once fired comes out somewhere between a very dark brown and almost black depending on how the light hits this piece. There are a few minor glaze issues(not completely covered) that were from the manufacturing process. There are a few minor flakes on the inside rim of the of the crock as evident in photo#9 that were likely from usage of using a spoon to dig out the homemade goodness that was stored inside this crock. This crock has no cracks or repairs. We have provided photos from every possible angle so you can be assured that the quality of this piece matches this description. Dimensions: 6 3/4" tall by 6 1/8” in diameter at the base and 4” outside diameter at the mouth. We've made an honest attempt to provide an accurate description of this item based on our experience.
