Antique New York Stoneware Blue Flower Salt Glazed 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. A lovely large crock with a great ovoid shape and applied handles. It has a heavy and dark cobalt blue flower and leaf design that borders the top half of the crock. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. This Rare 2Gal. Taunton Blue Bird" Crock is absolutely stunning. The Cobalt decoration is big. Bold and flawless; a perfectly executed Slip-Trailed design. This folky Bird is heavily shaded and perched on a thick, dotted twig. Clearly impressed on the shoulder: F,T, WRIGHT& SON, TAUNTON, MASS. There should be periods, rather than commas(F.T. WRIGHT) but this stamp error only adds to the appeal! Franklin Wright(and his son) ran this Massachusetts stoneware manufactory for 10 years, beginning in 1866. Fine, consistent Salt Glaze exterior; Albany Slip inside; some age-appropriate mineral stains on the rim and inside edge. Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. T.F. Reppert antique stoneware crock from Greensboro PA. Sadly this one is broken. It was shipped to my father and didn't survive the trip. He is thinning out his collection beginning with the broken ones. This was broken into pieces and glue repaired. I'm sure a professional repair job could be possible. But this feels pretty sturdy as is. It would not hold water but still displays well. It's a beautiful piece of history that can't be replaced and shouldn't just be thrown away because it's broken. As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Daisy And Trellis Butter Holder. It measures 6" wide by 4.75 tall. Mint value $125- $175. There are six large daisies on a close trellis background. This is missing a lid and a bail which it held at one time. Bail holes for this mold were not made to go through to the interior. There is one fine hairline crack on the interior of bail hole placement that extends from top down approx 2.75" it is not visible on outside surface. Offered is this Royal Blue Stoneware Covered Baker. Embossed on the underside of the base is" USA"This heavy cooking dish measures 9 5/8 inches in diameter. 3 1/2 inches deep and 6 inches tall. The weight is 5 pounds 3 ounces. There is a vertical hairline crack that runs 1 1/4 inches down from the rim on the lower piece. The last two pictures show this area in detail. There are no other cracks and no chips. There are a few tiny production glaze pops and hard to see crazing.

Piece is in great shape for its age with some wear and aging to contend with as well as one 6in crack starting from the top. Piece has nice clean handles and crack is in the back of the piece so it won't detract much in display. Piece measures 9in X 8 3/4in X 13 3/4in and is a nice displayable size but once again, I am not sure about the gallon size. Antique Stoneware Blue Advertising Lambrecht Butter 12 Cent Crock
This advertising piece of stoneware has a lovely ivory color with cobalt blue writing. A great bowl to keep keys and your wallet in or use in the kitchen. It is advertising Lambrecht Butter made in New Jersey and has a 12 cent deposit. Has no chips or cracks that were not original flaws in the making. There is a three veined crack at one of the 12 cent deposits area where the blue ink has flowed into. But then again this was done in the making. It holds 1 1/2 cups so it can be used as a measure. Estate Find! Antique Milk Bowl/Crock Blue/White Stoneware Bail Handle w/Wooden Grip Outside of Bowl- Raised Double Square Pattern 4 Sunflowers on Sides Top Rim Solid Blue- Bottom Blue/White Blue Mark on Inside- Cannot Read 6" High 11" Top Diameter(12" Bail Lip to Bail Lip) This is a very interesting and very nice antique Milk Bowl with Bail Handle. The material is stoneware with a blue and white glaze(may be a salt glaze) The bail handle has a black wooden grip. The bottom has an impressed Star with 3 outer rings of a raised block look. The top ri. Is a solid blue and has a nice design on the bottom edge. The maker is unknown but the blue marks on the inside near the top were probably their marks. There are a couple chips on the top edge but they have been there awhile as they are very smooth and the one seems to have some ... moreglaze in it also. The biggest flaw is a crack in the bottom of the bowl going about 1/4 of the way around the bottom. This crack can also be seen on the outside(in pic) This is a great old piece of history and would have great visual appeal for a collection. Antique Blue Band Stoneware No. 6 Crock with wood and wire bale handles
Decent shape. One hairline crack on the outside. Which can be seen on the inside. Two more very thin hairline cracks on the inside in the same area of the hairline that goes all the way through. Rust to the wire as seen in the pictures. Wear to the black paint on the wood handles. One of the wood handles is chipped. Some crazing to the pottery in the area where the handles attach. Weighs around 25 pounds. Stands 14 inches tall and measures 13 inches in diameter. Several more pictures directly below.
