Mini Whiskey Advertising Jug 1/2 Gallon New York Liqour House Crock Stoneware
This is one of the neatest Liqour advertising jugs we've put up for sale. It actually has an old four digit phone# on it. And that is very rare. At 8" tall x 5 3/4" this isn't exactly a mini jug, but it is a very nice collectible 1/2 gallon size. The Denver phone service started in 1879. After some research we found that both the Telephone Exchange and The New York Liquor House were on Larimer st. The jug says: The New York Liquor House 2311-13 Larimer Street Telephone 1910- Denver. Colo. The jug is in pretty good shape. No cracks. There is one chip on the upper shoulder. And three chips at the bottom of the jug. All shown in pictures. There are also the usual hand made manufacturing defects that are under the original glaze, blurred and faded stamp, color spots, glaze skips, crazing, debris under glaze, and thats OK because ... morethey show the real age of the jug. This jug comes from a time when the old west days and the Victorian days were mixing together. And they had a telephone. WoW! How cool would it be to call over for a bottle of wine and a guy on a horse delivers it. At the same time when a lot of America didn't even have electricity. Investors this is the real deal. This jug is a collector cross over of several different types. From the wiskey advertising jug, of the old west, to the high tech telephone. Don't miss out. Two years later(in 1878) Frederick O. Vaille obtained rights from Bell Telephone of Boston to develop telephone service in the new Rocky Mountain state. The next year, Denver’s first telephone exchange opened at 1514 Larimer Street above Frick's Shoe Store on the south side of Larimer Street. It housed the 17th telephone exchange in the nation. The office belonged to the Colorado Telephone Company. Primative 1/2 Gallon White Crock Moonshine Jug Cork Stopper in Top Chips/Cracked
This auction is for a 1/2 gallon white stoneware crock moonshine whiskey jug. This stands right at 9.5" tall and has a base diameter of right at 5.75" across. The handle appears to have been repaired on it as you can see in the photos. There are chips around the bottom. A couple on the top and one on the rim. Also has a fracture closer to the bottom. This piece is in great shape with a couple small glaze pops and a swallow chip on the handle.this piece is not signed but the double ring neck. Antique Jug/Crock by Ballard Brothers Circa 1870, 2 Gallon
You are bidding on an antique jug/crock by O.L. + A.K. Ballard of Burlington. Vermont made about 1870. It is a two gallon jug standing 15" high and weighs 10 Lbs. It is marked with the incised lettering, O.L. + A.K. Ballard, Burlington, Vt. and decorated with a dark blue flower-like design characteristic of their work. As shown in my pictures, there is a chip in the outside of the base and a small crack where the lower part of the handle joins the body. This crack is small and does not go around the handle join. The spout is in very good condition with no chips or cracks, but the side of the body does show some discoloration which might be removed. This is a gem among crocks and a must for collectors. Antique 2 Gallon Jug Crock New York Stoneware Co. of Fort Edward Lady's Slipper
Selling a wonderful 2 gallon jug made and stamped by the New York Stone Ware Co. of Fort Edward. N.Y. This company was in business and making stoneware from 1861 to 1891. This jug has a maker's mark with a pretty cobalt wash over it, and a fancy cobalt design of a leafy plant. It reminds me of a plant called"lady's slipper, which is a rare and beautiful spring wild flower that grows naturally in New York state, including the Fort Edward area, and in New England. It may well have been the inspiration for this design! Measures 14 1/2" tall. It is in excellent condition, with no hairlines, cracks, or restoration, and having just three little chips on one side of the spout. Simply a gorgeous and antique signed stoneware jug from the great town of Fort Edward. NY.

Stoneware Crock #2 2 Gallon Jug w/ Cover
Item up for your consideration is an Antique Stoneware Crock. The Crock is un-marked as to who made it. There is a#2 Engraved in the Crock near the top between the Handles so we believe it is a 2 Gallon Crock. The Cover appears to work well with this Crock but we are unsure if it is the original cover. We got this crock at an estate sale in Downeast Maine. The Crock measures approx. 11 5/8 in. tall x 8 1/2 in. dia on the bottom. The Top of the Rim measures approx. 7 in. dia. on the outside and the inner opening measures approx. 4 3/4 in. There are several digs in the glazing and there is some staining from use and age. There are no chips or cracks. The glazing is scuffed on the top edge of the rim. The Cover has"S& G" in the Glazing and there is a small chip on the underside of the cover. Mean, and keen inside and out with well stamped hollow numeral"2" on the front upper shoulder, underneath is a very nicely wrought blue cobalt slip decor of balanced coil spray with four trailing dotted pistil stems from the flowers. The décor is perfectly centered and very neatly done with good detail. Overall clay color is a nice even tone light shade. Crock stands 15" tall on a 8.5" diameter base. The single rear strap handle is strong and perfect and the bottom is toasted light brown and dry clean surface from the kiln.
