Antique Brown and White Moonshine Crock Jug
This is an antique white and brown cone top crock jug. It measure 11 inches tall and 6 ¼ inches across the bottom. Areas of the dark brown cone looks like it has been salted. There is one small chip on the neck of the jar otherwise it is good condition. The cork is not original to the jug. It does not have any cracks or repairs. This jug is very heavy and weighs 6 pounds. Antique Albany Brown Slip Glaze Stoneware Beehive Wide Mouth Crock Jug
Up for bid is an Antique. Albany, Brown Slip Glaze, Wide Mouth, Bee hive, Crock Jug. The crock is 8-3/4 inches tall and the base is 5- 7/8 inches in diameter. The crock does have a good sized chip, and a smaller one, on the top outside edge, near the handle which someone painted brown(picture 3) Couple more chips on the opposite side(picture 5) There is also an imperfection that was done when the crock was made(picture 4) in the middle of the handle. It is a rough spot and the glaze is a little weird. Also, to the right of the handle in(picture 4) there is a chip in the body of the jug. There are also two other rough spots in the glaze at the base of jug on one side(picture 2) Picture#2 only shows one of the spots. Even with all the imperfections it is still makes for a nice display piece. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. Up for sale is an Antique whiskey? apple cider Jug/ Crock Jug. It measures 9" tall by 7 1/2" wide by itself. Its 12 1/2" tall with the handle up. This is a great looking jug but it does have a few issues. there is the chip on the lip of the spout, it only shows on the one side you can spin it around for display and it does not show. Also there is a chip on the bottoms edge. the handle has weather wear to it like sun rot, and the wire is rusted but the handle is still working fine. this is a great jug and it has a great look. it needs a big cork for the top and its ready for display. please email with any questions, I have 4 more of these type jugs listed now in my store, thank you.

Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Antique? brown jug with handle. Crock pottery whiskey Measures 8 inches tall. 6-1/2 inches wide; 20" around. There are several"imperfections" in the glaze and surface of the jug. There are some"scratches" which might be a signature which you can see in the 2nd picture, near the bottom, about the middle. The cork is inside the jug; it is falling apart. The cork fell inside the jug when I tried to remove it to see what might be inside. There is chip out of the bottom edge- see picture 11. Next to last picture. Weight is 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Background on this jug- This jug belonged to my stepfather who passed away several years ago. He was born in 1914. He was making and selling moonshine at the age of 10- for a nickel a bottle(if I remember correctly what he ... moretold me) He was plowing a 40-acre field at the age of 11- with a team of mules. I don't know when or where he acquired this jug. It sat on his front porch for years. You can look at the pictures and make your own judgment about the age. He lived in the Sand Mountain area for a while in his youth so he could have gotten it there.

This is a great old country antique. It measures about 7 1/2" high. It is in very good condition. There is a small ding on the handle(see photo) And a chip on the bottom of the piece. There is an area of excess clay that is on the piece by the handle(see photos) that looks like it was in the making. The bottom has a streak of what looks like brown glaze. Vintage 1920's/1930's or earlier large jug crock. It measures 12" tall and 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half with great crazing. The exterior bottom is unglazed. There is a remnants of a cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $18.00 postage. Here is a great antique stoneware crock/jug for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. This piece is probably from the later 1800s to early 1900s period. The crock/jug was made by E W Farrington of Elmira NY. The jug has one handle and is most likely of a one gallon size. I do not see or hear(when thump it) any indication of cracks in the jug. A couple of places on the side of the crock where something seems to be stuck on the crock. Not any glaze loss there. There is a chip on the outside lip of the jug opening just above the place where the name of the jug maker is impressed into the jug. Two other ... morechips on the the handle and I can see a hairline crack that runs between the two handle chips. There are some marks on the bottom of the crock where appears to have been some staining and loss of the glaze took place from what sitting on. Various wear and stain marks over the jug surface. There is some sort of chip of the glaze over the"ing" in Farrington as well. The image of the bird is interesting. Not sure if the image was originally on the jug or put on later. I did some brief research online and did not find a Farrington jug with a brown image on it. I certainly saw Farrington bird images. But in cobalt blue. Similar birds image wise online were referred to as whippets, yes a bird not the dog version. There is a fleck of cobalt blue just above the bird's head. The jug is 11" tall. By 6-7/8" across by handle. The jug is 7" across without the handle. The opening is 7/8" across on the inside and 1.75" on the outside. I would guess that this jug is a one gallon size. Up for sale is this lot of 3 vintage stoneware glaze whiskey jugs. One is light with a blue crown on the front with 1/2 gallon and measures 9" x 6" in very good condition. One is a brown glaze that measures 8" x 6" in good condition has a surface crack at the handle but is still in usable condition. Large Old Brown Jug Antique Primitive Piece Salt Glaze Stoneware Vintage Whiskey
This old antique Whiskey Jug is a fresh find from a garage in a fine old home near Birmingham. Alabama. It is probably from the Mid to late 1800's and has the character to prove it. I see no cracks on the piece anywhere, but it does have some minor bumps near the base and various staining all on the surface from over a hundred years of sitting in a garage. Most folks would call this patina, and it enhances the beauty of this piece. Please review the photos carefully and ask any questions that you may have. Blue Crown #5 jug, small brown/gray jug, cheese crock
Great set of three vintage jugs and crock. The crock is from upstate New York. There is one chip along the bottom of the larger jug. The smaller jug has no chips. The cheese crock has two thin cracks but the crock feels solid. They are located in the far west end of Richmond. Virginia. The large jug is 19" hi x 11" wide. The small one is 10 1/2" hi and 7" wide. The crock is 5" hi and 7 3/4 wide.

Little Brown Jug Crock Small Pitcher Monmouth Western Stoneware Embossed Diamond
Shown here is this very sweet little pitcher which is probably Monmouth or Western Stoneware. It is unmarked on the bottom. It is about 5 inches(13 cm) tall and about 6 1/2 inches(16.5 cm) from tip of spout to tip of handle. There are no chips. Cracks, fleabites, or crazing on this piece. There are some character marks in the greenware that have been glazed over. The pattern is not the usual concentric circles on most of these pitchers. But of embossed diamonds and around the top a dentil border. Perfect for serving milk. Cream, or heated syrup. Also would be cute used for a wildflower vase. Please see my other auctions for more. Back in those days, if you said"mouse" we meant that ... morelittle fur critter, not a plastic thing a ma jig. And a"screen" was a wire mesh you sifted with, not something you peered at plugged in. Likewise, the"cookie" was something Grandma baked, not some computer part. Ahhh,yes. Times past, the days when this JUG was new, selling for pennies at the country store as a utilitarian object now elevated to collector status desired by every Watcher out there reading this. The horse drawn carriages were clipclopping past at a lazy pace! This Jug is potted from northern grey clay indigenous to the area. But the extended time in the kiln during firing produced a most striking warm brown color layering over the grey peeking out underneath, rendering it appearing almost like Beehive or Beeskep! Horizontal rings of grey color peek out between the brown overlay in a most unusual effect a little bit different from the usual grey floral or later stencil patterns of the Cowden maker. Crock stands 10 3/4" tall on a 6.25" diameter base. The single rear strap handle is strong and perfect and the bottom is toasted light brown from the kiln with a desireable wire wheel cut marks off the potters wheel. Jug has a few random clay

This a very rare Vitreous stone bottle with handsome salt glazed finish. This Bourne and Denby jug is likely from 1840-1860. The jug stands about 11 1/2" high X 7 wide with rarely seen handle.
