This excellent little kitchen crock measures just over six inches tall. And probably hold about a quart. The piece is from an estate, so we really don't know it's actual age, only that it is very old and original. There are no cracks or major chips anywhere; only a few small fleabites and scuffs in the original glaze. There is absolutely no maker's mark anywhere. Please email any questions before bidding. Antique ovoid decorated stoneware crock, 8'' tall
This primitive decorated stoneware jar is an amazing size 8' tall. The top rim has drooped in the firing to give it an unusual shape. It has cobalt decoration. 3 squiggles. There is some roughness on the top rim. There are no cracks, the ovoid shape is wonderful and makes it older than the straight sided ones. Tan Crock With Spongeware Band Old Crock stands 8 ½ inches tall. Opening is 4 ½ inches. There is no lid. Although it seems that it had one at one time. There is a pretty spongeware band around the middle of brown. Green and dark red. The entire crock has a beautiful crackle in the glaze. There are two fingertip handles. After careful examination. I find one hairline crack which only shows on the inside lip and the glaze on the uppermost edge of the opening is worn down, most likely from a lid. Otherwise. This crock is in very good condition. An antique blue decorated stoneware crock which is stamped"1-1/2" gallon on the front. There is no maker's mark or stamp. The crock is approximately 6-3/8" tall and 9-7/8" wide across the top. The blue decoration is in a beautiful state of repair with virtually no wear. There is a large chip to the rim right of center on the side. Measuring nearly 2.25" in length. There is also a hairline on the back of the piece, which starts at the rim and extends about 4" downward. You are bidding on a vintage wax sealer stoneware crock. Stands 8 1/4" inches tall. Decorated on the front with a large eagle with a shield on its chest holding an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other. Also holding a banner with the word Star from its beak, all in blue. Nice original condition with a crack that runs from the top down the side to the left of the eagle. I don't see any other chips, cracks, other damage or repairs. The crock has a brown base with a cream colored lid. This coloring appears to be less common than the darker glazed brown and cream. The lid states that it was made by the Weir Company. The Weir Stoneware Company was based in Monmouth. Illinois. The lid states not only that this is a Weir Crock. But also has the following information: Pat'd Mar 1st 1880. You are bidding on an Antique Brown Glazed Crock with lid 8" tall. In very good condition. No Cracks or crazing. Bottom of crock shows normal vintage age.has a small 1/2" area that looks to have been scrapped many years ago(surface only) No other issues with the crock. Lid has a indentation area that was made during the crock making process. It has glazing down into the indentation. This is a real nice crock set. Note: the lid and crock brown colors are just off a bit and do not exactly match.they were bought together from a family estate and were together at the time. Family had always had them together. Both pieces definitely compliment each other. Measurements: 8" tall. Opening at the top is 1.75" Great collector item! Weights 2.5lbs. Lovely antique or vintage dark brown stoneware crock- makes a great utensil holder or vase for flower arrangements. The piece measures approx. 5 5/8" tall and 5.5" in diameter at base. Very heavy(3 lbs. 10 oz. Medium brown glaze with some dripping, bare spots, bumps, and other irregularities original to manufacture give this piece a real rustic, country feel.
