antique ceramic bean pot pickle jar stone crock
This is a really old ceramic crock kind of pot. I don't know much about it other than my wife got this years ago in an old barn in Maine. It is 9 1/2 inches tall and base is 7 inches diameter. The outside is not glazed and just has much"character" The inside is glazed. I am not sure what this was used for. Perhaps making pickles? There is no lid for it and there is a slight chip in the top rim. I can see no maker's mark. Although there is no maker's name on this pot, it still cries out for attention from collectors. This has so much character and eye-appeal. It would look great sitting in the corner or on a shelf filled with dryied flowers or perhaps?

Antique Central Pennsylvania? Stoneware Crock Pottery Stone Jar 4 Gallon
Late 1800's salt glazed stoneware crock with cobalt decoration. This crock features cobalt vines as well as several squiggle decorations. There is an impressed 4 gallon capacity mark between the decorations as well as a freehand 4 gallon capacity mark. This crock stands approximately 14.75" in height. Is 9.25" in diameter at the base, and 8.5" in diameter at the rim. This crock has some damage worth noting. There is an approximately 6" crack extending from the rim to the top of the right vining. It appears to have been stabilized with glue. There are 2 large shallow chips to the rim. One above the right ear, and the other slightly behind the right ear. There is a 2.5" in the firing crack next to the one previously described. There is a"y" shaped in the firing crack about 1.5" across between the ... moredecorations. What was left of the roof was caved in and I had to crawl on my belly to get into a small crawl space. I could see that there was an old still or pieces of a one and a pile of broken crocks. The weeds were growing in and around all of the rusted and broken materials. But I was able to find 2 jugs, in perfect condition. you are viewing one of those. This Beautiful Jug is 9" high and 6" in diameter. It is a wonderful piece of history and needs to be shared. I am now willing to let them go.

Here for auction is an antique. One gallon stoneware crock from Hawthorn Pottery Company from Hawthorn PA. Crock is in great shape with no cracks or damage on edge/ lip, outside or inside. Has normal old glaze imperfections. Shows use and wear through the years and has stood the test of time, still intact and functional and beautiful. I do not consider this damage or loss but I am listing it. This is a great old, valuable and collectable crock in great shape with excellent markings in historic blue by a well known historic stoneware producer. Flea bites, paint on the top ridge, there is a hairline crack that is 6" long on the outside and approximately 3" long on the inside.
