This is a very nice pottery clay country bowl. There are no chips breaks on this piece. Some use wear. But a really good antique piece. The crock also has a blue crown stamp on the back with the number 1(see pic) The crock is a very heavy piece with hand painted Jemima/Black Americana dolls on the front and a heart with splash designs on the back. It does have some crazing and surface cracks in the glazing of the crock as indicated by the pictures. None of the cracking represent any structural damage as this piece is very sound. Antique FRENCH BROWN STONEWARE CROCK POT JAR w LID & HANDLES Country Pottery
An antique BROWN FRENCH STONEWARE LIDDED COUNTRY CROCK brought back from a Paris. France antique market. There are two applied pottery handles on each side. This crock is not signed, but is instantly recognizable as traditional French pottery. The outside is covered with a rich brown glaze, and the inside is covered with a beige glaze. The top of the lid is not glazed. This farmhouse jar. Pot or crock would have been used for honey, preserves or confit- either sweet or savory. Once filled, a cord would have been run through the hole in each handle, and tied on the top, securing the lid in place. These crocks come in all sizes, and since there is an interior glaze, can be used for all sorts of things in your kitchen. I use mine for coffee, tea, herbs, etc. This crock measures 3" high with the lid on. It measures 4" across the top ... moreof the lid. And 2 7/8" across the base. It is in great old condition, but as can be seen in the photos, there are some little nips on the inside lid edge, and a tight hairline on the inside of the jar(see photo) Pot a graisse. Antique! StoneWare. Country Crock Salt& Pepper Shakers. Dk. Brown& Cream Color. They measure approx. 4 1/2" Tall and 2 1/2" diameter. They are in"Good" condition. I only find one chip on the bottom of the salt shaker. There are small imperfections in the shakers from the maker. Both need new cork stoppers. I have had these for 59 years. They were in my china cabinet all those years. Very Nice!

The churn shows normal wear from age& use. But I see no chips or cracks, what may appear to be chips in the photos is just some discoloration on the churn. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE COUNTRY SET OF TWO MATCHING POTTERY CROCK JUG BOTTLES #411
We have two very nice. Primitive pottery crock/vessels that are almost identical, which is difficult to imagine. One of them has what looks like a chip, but it is a firing blemish which was caused by something exploding inside the clay and blowing out a piece of it during the firing process. You can tell this because the glazing which is dark brown, is running into the hole left behind and this only happens during the firing process. New chips leave a sharp edge on the glazing where it breaks. This doesn't have that. The hole does not go all the way through to the inside. So, it's kind of a"birth mark" in the crock world. Otherwise, these two are in very good condition! All of these crocks make wonderful decorative and useful items in your antique pantry or buttery! Old Antique Salt, Blue Butter Crock~Shabby Country Farm Primitive~Cows~
This is an antique. Butter crock, over a hundred years old, that is missing the lid and has a hairline crack. It amazes me how these neat, old, primitives have survived through the years. It has holes in each side meant for wires to hold and secure the lid. It has 4 cows marching around the sides of the crock, with what looks like a wreath-type design. I tried my best to capture the hairline crack, which runs down the side and across the bottom. It is still solid, heavy and a charming addition to any hutch or primitive collection.
