It has an elaborate cobalt blue decoration with vines, flower and leaves, tendrils etc. This jug is about 19" tall and approx. 10-3/4" across the diameter at the base and about 34-35 inches in circumference at the widest part of the jug. The top and side(of the spout) have very old chips. There is an"in-the-making" defect in the front that you can view with the e-bay magnifier. Up for bid is an Early. Stoneware Whiskey Crock Jug. The jug measures 11- 1/2 inches tall. And the base is 6-3/4 inches in diameter. Due to age and use there are some imperfections. There is a chip in the top(picture#8) lots of crazing, and some manufacturer imperfections(picture#4 and 5) There are also some cracks at the base of the jug(picture#3) but the cracks do not compromise the integrity of the jug. Antique Albany Brown Slip Glaze Stoneware Beehive Wide Mouth Crock Jug
Up for bid is an Antique. Albany, Brown Slip Glaze, Wide Mouth, Bee hive, Crock Jug. The crock is 8-3/4 inches tall and the base is 5- 7/8 inches in diameter. The crock does have a good sized chip, and a smaller one, on the top outside edge, near the handle which someone painted brown(picture 3) Couple more chips on the opposite side(picture 5) There is also an imperfection that was done when the crock was made(picture 4) in the middle of the handle. It is a rough spot and the glaze is a little weird. Also, to the right of the handle in(picture 4) there is a chip in the body of the jug. There are also two other rough spots in the glaze at the base of jug on one side(picture 2) Picture#2 only shows one of the spots. Even with all the imperfections it is still makes for a nice display piece. Callahan& Co. 122 Seneca St. Buffalo, NY. Measuring 11" tall. And 7-1/2" diameter on the bottom, there is some splatter of red paint near the bottom, from the looks of it, the paint seems pretty old. This is an authentic antique stoneware jug which measures approximately 8-1/2 inches tall by 7-1/2 inches in diameter. It has a chip at the neck. See picture, and several small"flaws" on the body, see pictures. There are not any cracks that I can find. There are marks on the jug which might appear in the pictures to be cracks but they are really just marks(possible pencil marks) This jug was found under a really old house in Texas about 70 years ago. It is a heavy piece, nearly 5 pounds. Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. ANTIQUE 19THC ENGLISH STONEWARE LUSTRE GLAZED STONEWARE POTTERY CROCK JAR JUG
WHAT A CROCK OF. Gooseberry Preserves. Lemon Curd, or perhaps Clotted Cream, Dear Collectors, this is a genuine 19th c antique English lustre glazed Preserve Stoneware Crock Jar peculiar to those made across the big pond for food preservation of yesteryear in the British Isles. Every respectable farmstead would sport several in the kitchen and buttery/pantry for daily use and storage of preserved foodstuffs well before the days of modern refrigeration made these charming sturdy stoneware vessels outmoded and relegated to collector status. Quite similar to American Albany slip brown glaze. The exterior of crock is covered lavishly in pearl brown lustre wash glaze giving it a soft lustre reflective pearl shine with life that dances off the surface at all angles. It features twin lug handles at upper side to aid gripping crock during cooking ... morewith a decorative stamped incised single beaded ring running around the upper middle kissing lower handle extensions. It has a most gentle chamfered base bevel, then the bottom is simply unglazed stoneware clay patina. A thick well formed rim likely once had a lid no longer present, but no matter, clean sage gray green glazed interior is happy to hold your wooden spoons and kitchen utensils in period style. Overall it has a tall, slight flared upright shape like a fine pail with great dignity and usefulness to industrious housekeeper.remember Mrs. Bridges from Upstairs, Downstairs? Hudson would approve and no doubt Downton Abbey has a few on display as well. It stands 6.25" tall and 5.75" across open top. I would guestimate, holds about a quart liquid capacity overall. It is in sound fine condition with no damage, no chips, no hairlines. nothing beyond the the usual firing scratch in the making or tiny rough clay blob on rim glazed over. I know this is English having travelled to the UK buying fields myself seeing these on offer occasionally, and this lovely example was deacessioned last week from a retired English Dealer in Gettysburg, PA who purchased it

For sale is an Antique Pickle or Kraut Jug 4/5 Gallon with a Wide Mouth. This is a piece of North Carolina Stoneware circa 1900 made for domestic use. The jug is 8" tall and 5.75" in diameter at the base. It is 2.75" at the opening. The jug is in good antique condition with no real chips and only manufacturing flaws and related ageing defects. The jug still holds water. There are markings on the base but they are indistinguishable either from wear or age. Please examine the photos carefully. Up for sale is an Antique whiskey? apple cider Jug/ Crock Jug. It measures 9" tall by 7 1/2" wide by itself. Its 12 1/2" tall with the handle up. This is a great looking jug but it does have a few issues. there is the chip on the lip of the spout, it only shows on the one side you can spin it around for display and it does not show. Also there is a chip on the bottoms edge. the handle has weather wear to it like sun rot, and the wire is rusted but the handle is still working fine. this is a great jug and it has a great look. it needs a big cork for the top and its ready for display. please email with any questions, I have 4 more of these type jugs listed now in my store, thank you.

It has subtle ribbing the whole length of jug and varying colors of cobalt blues and some brown as well. Found in early homestead in Putnum county Virginia. Jug is peppered throughout and has blue rings around top and bottom. Near mint condition no chips. As you can see there is a natural birth mark on this crock that was there and has been there since the firing of this crock. I believe that the maker did it late in the process and felt it better due to the perfection of this piece to just leave it be instead of scraping it. Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Antique? brown jug with handle. Crock pottery whiskey Measures 8 inches tall. 6-1/2 inches wide; 20" around. There are several"imperfections" in the glaze and surface of the jug. There are some"scratches" which might be a signature which you can see in the 2nd picture, near the bottom, about the middle. The cork is inside the jug; it is falling apart. The cork fell inside the jug when I tried to remove it to see what might be inside. There is chip out of the bottom edge- see picture 11. Next to last picture. Weight is 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Background on this jug- This jug belonged to my stepfather who passed away several years ago. He was born in 1914. He was making and selling moonshine at the age of 10- for a nickel a bottle(if I remember correctly what he ... moretold me) He was plowing a 40-acre field at the age of 11- with a team of mules. I don't know when or where he acquired this jug. It sat on his front porch for years. You can look at the pictures and make your own judgment about the age. He lived in the Sand Mountain area for a while in his youth so he could have gotten it there.

Up for auction is a beautiful stoneware crock jug. Not sure what is was used for. Water or wine? Stands 14" tall and is 4 1/2 across the bottom. It has a large bumpy unglazed patch underneath the hand fashioned handle. Has the same bumpy patch around the bottle neck. There is a chip on the opening rim. Cool country primitive piece. This is a used Off-white Ceramic stoneware Gallon Jug Crock with a bail wood handle. handle and bail are not original. The Gallon jug has a couple very small flea bites or small nics. you can the black marks in photo at top opening. One very small mark on each side of opening. See no cracks or chips in the remaining jug. Bail handle supports in great shape.see no cracks in handle supports) Jug has a tapered top. Off-white jug with light grazing. As found condition. RARE Vintage Antique Stoneware 9" Crock Flattened Jug Pitcher with Handle Two Toned Brown Crock stands approximately 9" tall. 5" wide at the widest part and 3" deep. Below the handle, near the base, there is a circle that looks like it had writing inside, but I can not read it. I do not see any other maker's marks anywhere. I've been told this is either an English or Scottish flattened jug with a round rig neck collar from the late 1700's. Very Rare Collector's item! See pictures for details. I never find these!and never decorated with flowers!this is the only one of these I have seen in 27 years of looking! I dont want to make a big deal about this. But the fact is it is a big deal if you collect this form. it even still has 100 years worth of basement dirt,dust in side on the bottom! super rare Hudson valley Oyster crock(I found this a 1/2 mile off the river this morning! I think this was made by I.V.Machett in Cornwall NY but you be the judge im just the picker here! super clean. no cracks.this wonderful gem dates from the last quater of the 19th century.great size, great color, great shape! I dare you to find another! winner pays all shipping and insurance. in the pic the size wide is 6 inches in real life.
