Sweet Little Singer This is a wonderful old miniature Singer cast iron sewing machine. A diminutive"Model 20" from the late 1920s to 1930s. These were made and marketed as a child's first sewing machine and were also useful for travel. This model, with oval pedestal and wood knob, is in very nice condition. Though could use a cleaning and oiling. The mechanism turns smoothly and the needle and parts appear to move as designed. I have not tested it with thread and fabric. There are some light scuffs and dings- nothing major- and just a bit of surface rust that a cleaning would take care of. The spool pin was missing so I purchased a replacement and I will also include new spool felts and needle. The fabric guide is missing but it's not a necessity and replacements are available. Muller #1 German pre WWI miniature childs toy sewing machine
Up for bid is a nice Muller#1 childs toy sewing machine. It was made between 1895-1914 by the FW Muller company in Berlin. Germany. The machine has the front crank and has feed dogs to transport the fabric through the machine. It is missing the spool tension spring& nut, thread guides and the original needle. There is however a needle in the machine and it turns and advances the fabric. I believe the number on the plate is 119486. 1920's Antique MULLER GERMANY Model No.19 Miniature TOY SEWING MACHINE Cast Iron
This is a 1920's Antique MULLER No. 19 Toy Cast Iron Sewing Machine. It measures 6 3/8" high to the base of the thread pin and is 6 3/4" x 9 3/4" across the feet. It was Made by Freidrich Wilhelm Muller Junior. Berlin Germany. The Bottom of the Base is Marked"KT 1. 401" It Operates Fine but Missing the Arm Cover. It is Also Missing the Two Steel Pins that Hold it to the Base on which it Tilts. The Needle Screws, and the Set Screw that Holds the Lower Shaft in Position. There is Some Missing Paint Primarily on the Arm and Base's Upper Edges, see photos. Overall it Displays Well but Would be Nice to have the Arm's Pressed Steel End Cover. Toy Miniature Chain Stitch Sewing Machine
Cute miniature antique chain stitch child's or salesman sample sewing machine. Top bar has a repair. But it is in working order-just add a needle. Serial number on throat plate says No. 224559. The irregular line and spacing of the numbers, combined with the difference in depth of stamping, tell me that the machine was hand-stamped one number at a time, and is therefore very, very old. It has a three-spoked crank wheel, original wooden handle, all original screws, springs, etc except for the screw on the throat plate. The original painting of wheat( leaf and floral pattern can still be seen on the front, and two sides of the base. It is all metal with a faux pawfoot base and ring for a clamp connection to a table. This cast iron miniature sewing machine is in about as fine of condition as one would ever hope to find. Besides the beautiful ornate accents. The only marking I could find was“Made In Germany” and what looks like a fancy“M” monogram. On the bottom is“KT 2” and a“401. There is also a“No. 13317” on it. I did enough internet homework to guess that the“M” might stand for“Muller. but that’s just my best guess. In any case. This one is in great shape. The box is stamped with model No. 0. This sewing machine stitches fabric by turning the crank wheel with wooden knob. The crank works fairly well and the needle goes up and down. It has the Casige mark of an eagle with a key on the sewing platform. And is also marked Made in Germany underneath. It has black enamel paint with gold and red decoration. Conn. by The Smith& Egge Mfg. Co. This cool little hand-crank machine still sports its original brass looper/hook– an item author Alex Askaroff said only appeared on early Smith& Egge machines as“it was easily worn and soon replaced. In an article about the brief history of the Smith& Egge sewing machine company on the website SewALot.com, said the firm was founded in Bridgeport by“skilled inventors and engineers” William Smith& Frederick Egge around 1873-74. While these portable machines were designed to be secured on a flat surface with a metal clamp. From researching other Mueller machines, I believe this machine dates to around 1915-1920? The machine features a sturdy metal(referred to in Mueller descriptions as"sheet iron" base and body decorated with birds amid a colorful floral motif of red, greens, and gold. Shows wear and rust with loss of detail& color overall-mostly on the front. All the necessary parts seem to be attached and move as intended. ABOUT THE SINGER 20: When the Singer 20 toy sewing machine was introduced in 1910 it was in a league of its own. Although the Singer 20 was of a simple chain stitch design requiring just 40 components. It was very well engineered with a cast iron body. Compared to other toy sewing machines of its era, and indeed since then until the present, it is far more like a miniature adult machine than a child’s toy. When other manufacturers wanted to enter the same market, many decided to do so with a close copy of the Singer 20. After the end of WW2 several U.K. companies such as Essex. Grain and Vulcan decided to produce toy sewing machines. The first machines from all of these makers very ... moreclosely resemble the Singer 20. There are chips and scuffs to the paint, the logos are worn away in places, and much of the nickel plate is rusty in varying degrees. The machine turns freely and everything operates as it should, but I have never tried to sew with it(although I have read that these machines are hard to use because they don't have the thread tensioner of the later models) The table clamp is the correct one for this machine and is original Singer. I didn't see a name of Essex on the machine that I can see but there was a hang tag from the previous owner(antique sewing machine collector) that said Essex England $225. I'm not a sewing machine collector so I'm unsure if this is complete or in working condition so this is sold as-is and as you see pictured. I can crank the back and it moves the needle up and down nice and smooth. I sprayed a little window cleaning on a clean cloth to wipe it down gently for the pictures. 3 piece lot of antique sewing machine parts in good condition. The frame on the left was tagged for Singer 20-2 electric but has no markings on it and the frame on right marked singer is as seen. The third item is of unknown origin. The frame on left has some scratches and scuffs. The singer on right has some nicks in the finish and lost paint. Up for auction is a really well preserved Smith& Egge baby sewing machine. All parts move and work as they should. Shows wear consistent with age and purpose. Foot advance even works. You could sew with this if so inclined. Possibly used for doll clothing and such. Japanning in very good condition. Measures 5" long by 7 1/2" high. Sold as is so look at pictures well. Sewing Machine; miniature size made in Germany. Purchased this at and antique estate sale about 25 years ago. Black enamel with painted decorations. Stands approximately 5” tall, 6”long, 2” wide and the wheel’s diameter is 2 3/4” Great condition. Needle bobin mechanics work fine when rotating wheel. Wood wheel handle. Stamped made in Germany(see photo) Plate has No. 359487 stamped into it. Looks to be a childs toy( or decorative piece. Really nice.
