For your consideration I have this very NICE Estate Found ANTIQUE CHILDREN'S CASIGE SEWING MACHINE*METAL* Made in GERMANY.British Zone.ca. 1900-1910's Comes with Box& Paperwork. The machine seems to be in GREAT Condition.very well cared for. On one side is an"Angel" sitting on a cloud and the other is"Johnny Appleseed" or"William Tell" Machine works very easily when wheel is turned. Has the Casige logo. Eagle and key, stamped on the stitch plate. Needle is missing. All pressed steel construction with nickel plated table and cast iron wheel. From my understanding this type of machine was used in the German school system to teach young girls how to sew. Casige made child sewing machines from 1902 to 1970. Founded in 1901, Casige would become one of the best-selling toy makers of the 20th century. Their children's sewing machines were often characterized by whimsical tin lithographed embellishment. As this was technically considered a"learning" machine for young ladies new to the domestic arts. It features a lot of fun details that wouldn't normally be seen on a full-sized sewing machine. The black, tin body of the machine is covered in vibrant lithographed imagery. As you can see, the base is accented with Deco-style symmetrical lines in fun shades of red and gold. Each side features the"Casige" name under the company's Eagle logo. The decals on this example was found on just one other machine while doing research, and it was referred to as'Fairy Tale. Vintage deep blue Casige metal toy sewing machine. This little sewing machine would look great as a display piece! The levers do still seem to work except the wheel seems to jam about half way around it could be an easy fix I just don't know enough about this piece and do not want to cause damage to it. It does have some rust as shown in the pictures but it still looks great and would be a great conversation piece. Except for the shaft of the needle-it is wooden with the needle at its bottom. It is approximately 9.5" tall at the top of the spindle. The base is 8" X 4" Weighs about 1.5 pounds. Probably from turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This was owned by the same family for all these years. The stitch plate is marked"made in Germany" and has the eagle holding a key. My research shows this trademark is that of Casige Company.see photo farther below for a ... moreview of this trademark. The wheel still makes the needle move up and down and the claw feet beneath the stitching plate still moves as the needles moves. The decorative painting is still in very nice condition. The silver colored parts of the machine and some areas of the black painted base have surface rust as shown in the photos. Which is the reason I have it described as primitive. It would make a very nice display for someone who loves primitives with a little rust as well as sewing. The photos are a very important aspect of understanding the condition of this little piece better than I can accurately describe in words. Here we have a most beautiful toy sewing machine that is marked"Germany” on the base. The paint is in excellent condition with no apparent loss. The paint decoration is really outstanding having birds. Vines and berries. It is some of the nicest that you will ever seen. Even the base has vines and berries all the way around. All the moving parts seem to work well with the presser foot going up and down easily and the original needle moving up and down with the turn of the crank wheel. Also included is the original early vintage Gruschwitz wooden spool of thread that was made in Germany. There is no Maker’s mark that we can find other than"Germany" However it does exhibit characteristics ... moreof a Mueller or a Casige. There is a serial number on the sewing plate. The number is"No. 160885" There is some minor light discoloration to the chrome and other bare metal parts. This little miniature machine is certainly a charmer. Antique Original Toy Sewing Machine - Tiny 5" - Germany - Casige
This tiny sewing machine is in fair to good condition. It is by Casige and is German. Dates pre- WW II. I loved having it in my collection because of its tiny size. About 4" long and 5" tall(including spool pin) and 1 3/4" wide. It is numbered 62509. The wheel turns but there is a broken piece right in the front that comes loose when turned(see picture) The needle moves but I cannot move the foot except by forcing it up. No lifter that I can see. A true delight due to its size.
