1930c Jones "ART DECO" Hand Crank Sewing Machine made in UNITED KINGDOM "WOW"
This 1930c Jones Family C.S. Hand Crank Sewing Machine made by the Jones Manufacturing Company. Guidebridge, Manchester, England with the serial#390291. The decal set is called"green teardop's" and has a very ART DECO feel and design to the pattern. Its interesting that the name on this machine is"Bradbury's VS Family" By 1929 Bradbury had closed its doors as a Sewing Machine maker and had been one of Jones primary competators in the UK market. Even though Jones sold its machines to anyone and would add any name the buyer wanted I find it odd that they would have put Bradbuy's name on one of their machines. Its possible Jones was taking advantage of the closure of the Bradbury Company. This machine is also classified as a badged machine as it does not carry the Jones name. William Jones started making sewing ... moremachines in 1859. And in 1860 formed a partnership with Thomas Chadwick. Trading as Chadwick& Jones they manufactured sewing machines at Ashton-under-Lyne. This partnership was short lived and in January 1864 Thomas Chadwick joined Bradbury& Co. In 1869 Jones opened a factory in Guide Bridge Nr Manchester and the firm became incorporated(Limited) on 5th July 1879. It survives today as Brother UK Ltd. I don't know much about sewing machines. This one is really gorgeous though. I was told that it was purchased for an older woman. But it ended up being too heavy for her, so it just sat in the closet for years and years. I plugged it in. It ran smoothly and quietly. Nothing looks broken or bad. There is a container of oil that is half used, so I can only assume this machine has been well cared for. I mean.LOOK AT IT! It's old, but it looks brand new! Shipping is Free! 1912 Model 127K Antique Singer Hand Crank Sewing Machine Bent-Wood Case WOW NICE
This is a gem of an antique sewing machine. It is in excellent condition. It is very clean and well cared for. Although we have not used it we can confidently say it is operable. It has very nice embossing and gold stenciling. With the lid on it is 14" tall and the base is 20 x 9" The wood looks really good on this with the base having wonderful dovetails. There are a few small dings to the paint on the machine but they are pretty small. This includes everything pictured. Even the original key. Everything will be well padded. We are describing this best to our ability. We however are not experts in anything so we strongly urge you to ask questions if you have any and please know what you are bidding on. I believe this model has hand crank capabilities by mounting a handle on the wheel. Motor spins but untested as the cord is missing the plug and controller.
