We spoke with the Singer representative ... moreand she said a machine this old didn't have a model name or number-that it was just called a"Standard" However, in the literature I have seen since, I notice model 12 New Family machines that are nearly identical to this one. The representative did confirm the 1871 date. The decals are still remarkably intact for a machine that is 142 years old. They represent the"Acanthus Leaves" pattern. The machine has a coffin top. Two-drawer cabinet and a set of attachments, including two original bobbins, bobbin winder"spoon, tucker, binder, seam guide, quilting bar(not pictured) and a wooden case of needles. It also has an extra open-boat shuttle that I have not tested. As it has a slightly different shape from the one that was in the machine. Two extra bobbin winders came with the machine, and will be included. A reprint of the Model 12 manual is also included. Size: At 16" deep x32" wide x40" high. Including top, the machine cabinet is rather diminutive, which I liked because it fits in small spaces. Markings: The Singer logo is present on both sides of the cast iron treadle base. The medallion on the machine's forward side says"Singer Mfg Co N Y Trademark. The front and back of the machine head say"Singer" and the top says"Singer Manufacturing Company" The Serial number is 868385. This machine with Serial Number N496866, is a Model 24 that was allotted to 2500 machines on October 5, 1900. From my research I believe this is most likely to be a Model 24-1: The Decal Pattern is'floral' also called'small flowers' and/or'decal pattern#19' The Cloth Plate is'silver' the Tension is'manual' The operation is'treadle' and The Spool Pin is'right back' Most of the decals are in Excellent shape. The Cloth Plate is good. Not perfect, but good. It has some loss, scratches and wear. Not rusty. This machine is well over 100 years old and still sews very nicely. This is a very nice hard to find Singer 24 Sewing Machine with a serial number dating it to 1908. It is in good working order with no dents or scratches. The decals and paint make this a museum quality piece. The original bentwood case has a replaced piece of trim on both sides just below the decal. While the bentwood case shows some age. It doesn't seem that the machine got much use. I sold a 1918 Singer 24 model a few months ago and this one is even nicer!

I am selling this rare vintage 1916 singer sewing machine for a friend who has no Ebay account. Rare. Hard to Find Antique Singer Treadle Sewing Machine in Victorian Cabinet. Beautiful Mahogany, Walnut or Rosewood Veneer Cabinet- I'm not quite sure but it is gorgeous! This style was called the Embossed Open Side Cabinet No. 24 The door opens to the left and has a locked attachment case with attachments and accessory tools. Cast Iron Treadle inside cabinet. It has a Singer sewing machine model 66 with gorgeous decals all over, serial number G4468282 dating to 1916. SIZE: 30" tall x 24" wide x 18" deep. This rare sewing machine is a Singer model 24 with the serial number G4721460. Which puts its manufacture date at June 21, 1912. That makes it over 100 years old. It was made in Elizabeth City, New Jersey and probably used in hat making. It is made mostly of iron(weighs close to 10 lbs. and measures about 6"D x 10.5"L x 9.5"H. The Singer 24 is a chain stitch sewing machine. Because of its great popularity. Singer made many versions of this model. They were mostly intended for industrial use, but were also used in homes and sometimes even as a child's toy. This rare small Singer is an important part of history(manufactured and used over a century ago) It comes from my personal collection. Which I am downsizing. It has looked great in my displays over the years. This machine does not sew and is sold"as is. It is missing ... moresome parts and the wheel and other parts do not move. HOWEVER THE TENSION NEEDS ADJUSTED TO WORK PROPERLY. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE PRESSOR FOOT IS ORIGINAL. IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY BUT IS BLUE INSTEAD OF BLACK. THE CORDS/PLUG FUNCTION BUT ARE STARTING TO BECOME HARDENED.THE PAINT/DECALS ARE MOSTLY INTACT AND BEAUTIFUL. THERE IS SOME CRAZING IN THE GLAZE. THE LIGHT FUNCTIONS BUT DOES NOT COME WITH A BULB. Antique 1913 Singer Sewing Machine Model 24-23 serial# G3252247. According to ISMACS only 3000 of these were made dated Sept 9. 1913. From what I could find this machine was used for ruffles and also popular with Hat makers for doing frills. I have not seen any other pictures on the web of this model but thanks to websites like Ismacs there are some photo prints of this sewing machine to compare to and from what I can see this appears to be complete not missing any essential parts. This is I believe originally a treadle sewing machine and it is being sold with a working 1917 Motor and Foot Pedal that are useable for this machine. I was brave enough to plug in the motor and test it, as you can see the power cord is in need of repair. There does not appear to be any issues with this sewing machine it turns smoothly and quietly. Antique 1899 Singer Treadle Sewing Machine Model 24 Chain Stitch w/Base & Hinges
This is an antique Singer treadle sewing machine model 24 with a removable base. Screw and cabinet hinges. The serial number 15919322 dates this machine to 1899. Marked on the throat plate is"PATENTED APR 13, 1888" It was designed to compete with Willcox and Gibbs chain stitch model and uses neither a shuttle nor a bobbin. It used a 24x1 needle(not included) and moves freely. It is a single thread chain stitch machine and was advertised for industrial and domestic use as well as a child's toy. It weighs 11.5 pounds and is quite compact. It was popular with hat makers and lace makers. These machines were made in Elizabeth, NJ. Singer model 24 serial#G4840897. Is in excellent condition! It only stitches chain stitch. Therefore this sewing machine does not require a bobbin. Only an upper thread. I plugged it in and the motor works! The motor uniquely swings out from the machine. It does not have a pedal. When you plug the machine in, the needle automatically goes up and down. I am not sure how to stop it other than to unplug it. It comes with a bent wood case(In its time, the bent wood cases were the most sought after" and a key. T his Singer Model 24-52 Chain stitch sew ing machine SN# G8251328 has been manufactured at Singer's Elizabethport NJ plant on August 5 1920. That was the Singer's answer to famous Willcox& Gibbs# 64 chain stitch machine that truly dominated the chain stitch sewing machine market since 1870. This was The only sewing machine in the history of sewing machines that has been advertised in 4 entirely different categories- as the toy machine.Small travelling machine, family machine and industrial machine. And it has been used in the hat manufacturing industry a lot! The Singer SMC over the years had over 70 different but very minor variations of this class 24 machine- from 24K-1 to 24-80.
