Welcome to my auction for a beautiful vintage singer sewing machine model no 12.the much sought after fiddle base new family. ~ serial number 4861722/ ... more1155922~ This machine is in working order. Its quite stiff and definitely needs oiling but everything moves as it should including the bobbin winder and stitch adjustment knob. The bullet shuttle is included and in good condition also comes with 2 bobbins. As you can see by the photos the decals are missing in places but overall fairly complete especially considering its age.I often see singers half the age of this in similar condition. It looks like it has been well oiled over the years and has a layer of dry oil build up over most of the machine-the orangey yellowish tinge over most of the base-see pics.this scratches off with a fingernail however I have left it Im sure you could remove this with kerosene or similar but I haven't tried for fear of damaging the decals. This Machine doesn't come with a case and the wooden base has seen better days.A couple of the pieces of woodwork are loose and ideally it could benefit from a new base and case Pictures Of Singer New family/ model 12 Please note this is not a new machine its well over 100 years old. please study the photos carefully to avoid any surpri se s.The b ase has also seen better days. If you wish to collect I can meet you 100m off junction 7 of the m27 motorway to save you the trouble of finding my house. Happy to ship worldwide but please contact me prior to bidding to ensure you are aware of shipping costs to your country as this is a heavy item and they can be expensive to ship. If you aren't happy with your item please contact me prior to leaving feedback as I will try my best to solve any issues you may have and happy to offer a full refund.Just ask! Product Description: Fiddleback Singer Model 12"New Family" treadle sewing machine"born" in 1871. We spoke with the Singer representative ... moreand she said a machine this old didn't have a model name or number-that it was just called a"Standard" However, in the literature I have seen since, I notice model 12 New Family machines that are nearly identical to this one. The representative did confirm the 1871 date. The decals are still remarkably intact for a machine that is 142 years old. They represent the"Acanthus Leaves" pattern. The machine has a coffin top. Two-drawer cabinet and a set of attachments, including two original bobbins, bobbin winder"spoon, tucker, binder, seam guide, quilting bar(not pictured) and a wooden case of needles. It also has an extra open-boat shuttle that I have not tested. As it has a slightly different shape from the one that was in the machine. Two extra bobbin winders came with the machine, and will be included. A reprint of the Model 12 manual is also included. Size: At 16" deep x32" wide x40" high. Including top, the machine cabinet is rather diminutive, which I liked because it fits in small spaces. Markings: The Singer logo is present on both sides of the cast iron treadle base. The medallion on the machine's forward side says"Singer Mfg Co N Y Trademark. The front and back of the machine head say"Singer" and the top says"Singer Manufacturing Company" The Serial number is 868385. The number above the serial number just below the stitch length selector is 7753385. Origin/ Background: I bought this machine at a flea market 26 years ago. It has been with me ever since. Condition: Machine has been cleaned and oiled. And is in working condition. Pictures of the stitches are included. The bobbin winder tire has been replaced with a rubber one, the old one having fallen apart. The two extra bobbin winders have crumbling tires although the metal is intact. The treadle has a rather nice motion, but I

1882 Singer Model 12 Fiddlebase Mother-o-Pearl New Family Treadle Sewing Machine
This is a wonderful original Singer model 12"New Family" treadle sewing machine dating from 1882 with a serial number beginning with 5 million 100 thousands. I am pretty sure it is the first set of numbers that is the serial number on these. So going by the Singer chart, this would be correct as the second set of numbers would make it older. This model is the"fancy" fiddlebed style with the real mother-of-pearl inlay insets making it VERY beautiful! It is in working condition, very free-moving and complete, including the often-missing bobbin winder, slide plates, shuttle, and a bobbin! This machine has a real wooden pitman, all-original and unbroken as often happens over time. The solid wooden top has a flip-up extension on the left side, but there is no swing-out support for it and doesn't appear to have a place where ... moreone was attached, so I'm not sure on that. There are 2 drawers, though the top one is stuck right now, and I can't get it out without force so would rather just leave it for now. This model has the"coffin top" cover/lid that keeps the machine dust-free, though it is missing one of the little metal plates that the 2"fingers" slide into. However, the coffin top has one issue and that is that I dropped it while applying lemon oil to it, and it cracked the top on 2 sides from top to bottom. It is pictured after this happened, and for now, I am not going to glue it back just yet since someone may prefer to do their own regluing of choice, though I can certainly do this for the winning bid if preferred as I do have the proper clamps and wood glue to do so. It is complete and not noticeable if held together like when reglued. These coffin tops are often seen on ebay for $30-60 if a replacement is preferred, but it is included and would be fine to use. This machine was displayed in an old sewing machine store which I bought in 2005 and has been kept indoors since then as well, always in a smoke-free environment. I have not done any restoration/cleaning to
Singer 1885 New Family Hand Crank Sewing Machine with Case Gold Acanthus Scroll
Singer New Family Sewing Machine This is a beautiful hand crank sewing machine made by the Singer Manufacturing Company. It is a model"New Family" The serial number is 6742822 which dates it to 1885. The design is an attractive acanthus leaf in gold with accents of red. It has a very interesting bobbin winder on it. I have seen similar ones referred to as"level wind" they would distribute the thread more evenly on the bobbin. But this one is different than any I have seen, instead of a"spoon" piece, this one has a thick wire with a loop at the end to hold the thread. The metal on the winder reads"PATENTED" and the rubber wheel reads"Simanco" SIMANCO = SI nger MAN ufacturing CO mpany) I have read that similar bobbin winders were only put on machines produced at the Scotland factory. If that ... moreis correct it is probably because the device was covered under someone else's patent in the U.S. I do think this machine was made in Scotland due to the bell shape of the wooden cover. The hand crank folds out of the way for the cover to fit over it. The swivel latch works but is quite difficult. The wood pieces have expanded and contracted over the years and don't fit as well as they did originally. Inside the case is a cubby with a swivel latch. Inside are three spaces to hold attachments. All that is present now is an old screwdriver. Holes in the base allow this machine to sit on top of a cabinet while the wheel is driven by a treadle belt. I forgot to take a photo of it but the shuttle and a bobbin are present. The hand crank works well and the needle goes up and down smoothly. It has a nice rhythm. Like a train going down the tracks. Condition is very nice. I'd say the decals are at least 85% present. The case has tiny paint spatters. I started working at getting them off just with a damp rag and a fingernail. They were coming off easily enough but there are just so many of them I'll leave the rest for the new owner. Powered by The free listing tool. List y

That I have yet to sort through. A brief look though made my day, some great items that I have not seen in a very long time. Check my store for some more antique oil lamp'parts' some antique fixtures, and, in this sale a beautiful antique Singer Sewing Machine. I was able to find several ... moresites that allowed me to date this sewing machine to 1927 using the serial number. AB559429" but was having problems identifying the model number. I was thrilled to find the Singer Sewing Machine site that identified not only the date it was produced, but also that this range of serial numbers were used on Model 99 Sewing Machines. I am selling it as being in the Model 99 FAMILY, as the size of this machine is larger then my research indicates a Model 99 should be. Please see dimensions below. This sale includes this 1927 Antique Singer Sewing Machine, and also includes it's original Bentwood Carrying Case, see picts. I do not collect sewing machines. Although I buy them whenever I can. Since I do not collect machines or sew I take my machines to a local company for testing. Pyle Sew and Vac, a historic Terre Haute Indiana company, has expanded, moved into a new building and are busier then ever. 1877 Singer Model 12 New Family Fiddlebase Sewing Machine
Great little barn find here. Per the serial number of 2,678,341 this machine was produced in 1877. It is a Singer New Family, also known as a Model 12 or Fiddlebase machine. It does turn by hand without any great difficulty, which I found surprising from its appearance. I have made no attempt to clean or refurbish it. While it would certainly be a candidate for restoration, given the condition it seems more likely to be a parts machine and I've priced it accordingly. This one was set up for treadle use and does not have the drive release on the rear wheel. According to the internet that's what the hinged section on the belt shroud controlled although I'm not clear how. It has the shuttle in place, I have not attempted to open it to see if a bobbin is present. So, all told it's an excellent and interesting bit of history that ... moreneeds a new home. Other than that. The rest is pretty standard. If you'd like to use a payment method other than PayPal, please let me know ahead of time. If you're close to Springfield, IL local pickup is always free. I'm happy to combine shipping on multiple auctions when possible, if you'd like an accurate estimate just drop me a line. Please ask any and all questions and if you'd like additional pictures, I'm happy to provide them.

1889 Singer Sewing Machine Receipt, VS-2 Improved Family Fiddlebase, Original!
This antique Singer sewing machine receipt is dated Feb. 26. 1889. The receipt does not identify the type of machine or price, however a VS-2, Improved Family, Fiddlebase machine is illustrated. While it does not contain a lot of information, it would add a great deal of interest to your antique VS-2, Improved Family, Fiddlebase machine! It measures 8 1/2" long by 3 1/2" tall. The condition is fragile, as it was folded in quarters at one time, and the fold lines have started to separate at the outer edges. The red printing is quite charming and very Victorian! Please feel free to ask additional questions prior to bidding. Buyer to pay $2.00 for USPS First Class Mail shipment in a reinforced envelope. Payment via Paypal is appreciated within three days. Antique Singer New Family Model 12 Sewing Machine 1877
For auction is an 1877 Singer New Family Model 12 sewing machine. Details about this machine: Serial number 2.722.692 161.692 Boat shuttle- included One bobbin Fiddle base Made in 1877 Uses a round shaft long needle Low arm The flywheel stop feature was added to the Model 12 in 1872. This is a nice feature and this machine has it. Earlier models and most of the ones you see do not. I have gotten this machine to sew but to use as an everyday machine it will need a little work- left slide plate and bobbin wheel. Cosmetic wear. There very little rust on the machine(no appearance of being"barn kept" or weathered) but there is japanning loss along the edge, paint splash and the steel parts could use a good cleaning. Underside is very clean and all mechanical parts(arm, springs, etc) are in excellent condition. Timing is great. This would ... moremake an excellent display but also an excellent straight-stitch everyday machine. It will easily last another 140 years with little care. Shipping to 50 US states only. Thanks and happy bidding. Posted with

Repaired(where needed) Restored, Serviced and perhaps improved in some ways. this unit is complete. as it is right now, it's very close to actually sewing real stitches(it's generally very difficult to get these 1880 or older machines to sew at all.from wear and so on) all the wood on this unit is solid and not veneered. i think the wood is walnut. the 4 sides of the 8 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" drawer appear to be made from a different lighter/softer wood. the drawer's face/handle side is one solid piece. it appears to be the same wood as the other visible hardwood. this sewing machine comes with the original key for locking& unlocking the coffin cover. 3 bobbins(i wound ... morethe bobbin that's in the shuttle on this machine using the treadle) 3 presser feet, a right angle finger like part from around the shuttle area(it came with this machine, but i have not seen it on any other model 12's) and an original Wm Crowley& Sons package for needles(there are no needles in this pack.this machine comes with one original needle and that's already positioned on the machine) here are some of the things i did: i replaced the treadle belt, sanded and repaired all the wood and then stained and sealed them all as well(inside, underneath.all the wood surfaces.including the pitman arm) i sanded painted and clear coated the treadle frame, the sewing machine and it's drip pan; i cleaned-up all the metal parts, polished metal and removed all the rust from any part that i could(almost all of the parts of the sewing machine were removed and cleaned) some of the original decals(besides those on the belt guard) are still slightly visible in their outlines even through the new paint an clear sealant. there is a new Singer slide decal where an original Singer decal once was. there are still rough spots on the sewing machine surfaces.and there are still
Vintage Original 1879 Singer New Family Sewing Machine for Parts or Restoration
Singer New Family Sewing Machine Over 10 years ago I got the bright idea that I was going to take an old Singer that was in really poor condition and paint it with elaborate florals. I think I had been watching too much Donna Dewberry on TV. This machine had almost no decals left. But not much chipping, so I polished most of it down to the black japanning, but then life happened, it ended up in a box, and I just recently rediscovered it. I am hoping someone out there would like it for parts or for restoration. All the important parts are present. It is missing a spring inside the bobbin winding mechanism. It needs a needle. I realized after I took the photo that there was no screw for changing the stitch length. So I went through my parts and found it, but the mechanism is stiff and won't budge. When I turn the wheel the needle bar goes ... moreup and down and the shuttle moves back and forth. It needs oiling. Everything is a little tight. The shuttle case is present and there is even a bobbin. It is serial number 3500655 which dates it to 1879. On the slide plate it has a patent date of April 22. 1879. The only decal left is the one on the top which reads"The Singer Manufacturing Co" Much of the chalky areas in the photos are dried wax that needs to be polished. But there are some chips and the steel parts are discolored. Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

Restored 1870 Singer Model Class 12 New Family MOP Treadle Sewing Machine Sews
this listing is for a: Restored 1870 Singer Model 12/ Class 12 New Family MOP(mother of pearl) Treadle Sewing Machine. That Sews fairly well. this treadle sewing machine head has been: thoroughly Cleaned& polished(all parts. Gears, springs, metal) Repaired(where needed) Restored, Serviced/Oiled and perhaps improved in some ways. this machine is complete. i added a new needle, red spool pin felt, rubber bobbin winder tire and i replaced the feed dogs spring. i replaced the 10 oval mother of pearl inlays that were wearing away or slightly damaged. the two original non-oval MOP inlays in the center of the machine have not been replaced. i added leaves around what appeared to be an original yellow flower similar to the one i repainted inside them. the two gold ovals on the belt guard have been repainted without the curved lines they had on ... morethem. this machine appears to have been made in 1870 based on Singer's own website serial#s list. this machine appears to have been produced just prior to first#s they post, which again would be 1870. the left brass slide plate has several patent dates on it: from Sept 10 1846 to Oct 9 1855. one of the reasons the stitches of this machine are still a little rough. Tough to balance and/or a little inconsistent is from the hole on the side of the shuttle that i repaired. the hole is not as large as the grey JB Weld compound i used on the outside to cover it. i added a piece of metal to fill part of the hole in the shuttle and i added some aluminum tape to the inside/bobbin side as i covered the outside. the outside has been sanded, but it still provides more resistance to the upper thread passing over it than it would with an un-repaired metal surface. this is the first(oldest) sewing machine that i've seen that has upper tension discs. these discs work, but this kind of tension system was just beginning to be used and so there was room for improvement. so, with the repaired shuttle(threading it for lower tension is tricky as well regardless.that's just the way th

Singer 15-30 Improved Family Antique sewing machine,Sphinx Memphis decal,1905
Singer Class 15-30 Oscillating CB Shuttle. Ready for Treadle Serial# B1045591. Manufactured on April 4 1905@ Singer's Elizabethport. New Jersey plant. The Industrial/Family heavy duty sewing machine Class 15 has been introduced in 1879 and holds the honor to be the longest(135 years! continuously manufacturing sewing machine in the history. This model also has a dubious distinction to be one of the most copied sewing machine. In 1970 I have seen myself the mass manufacturing of Class 15 PMZ at the former Singer Podolsk Mechanical Zavod(factory) in Russia. This plant has been built there by Singer SMC in 1902 with the intention to supply sewing machines to the entire Russian market and also The Balkan states. Turkey, Iran, Japan and China. Well. So little did they knew- after that infamous Russian revolution Singer basically has lost it's ... morehuge factory there and after the WWII there were a lot of copies of this truly wonderful machine has been made in Japan and later in China. And even now they are still being produced in India. The Treadle and hand crank versions! If that facts are not a testimony of this machine reliability.than nothing could be. After original introduction in 1879 of 15-1 as fiddle base with long beak shuttle hook. The sixteen years later in 1895 the new Improved machine with rectang ular body and slightly different mechanically class 15 almost as we know it is now has appeared. And It happened to be the most successful sewing machine design ever. In US and Scotland has been made 84 different official modifications of this marvel of engineering Class 15: from 15-1 to 15K191. About one half of them has been made as the industrial version. The only difference in between 15-30 Family and industrial version is the additional knee operated pressure foot mechanism. Basically. It was the Industrial machine for family use. The Early models like this one had the plain polished steel face plate. No reverse feed dog movement and no feed dog drop for quilting. It has all steel constructio
