Vintage 1928 Singer 66 Electric Sewing Machine, Motor Works, Rewired, Foot Pedal
This vintage singer 66 sewing machine was produced in 1928. The sewing machine motor and the electric light were recently rewired and the electric motor works. Though it needs a new belt and the foot pedal needs a new cord. The foot pedal was tested with an Ohm meter and the mechanism is working, it just needs to have the cord replaced. It is missing the bobbin cover plate.

This auction is for the sewing machine. Cabinet and wrought iron treadle base. Serial Number is: AC803747 According to the Ismacs. net website, it is a Model 15. Built on September 24, 1929. I was told by another seller that it was built at the Singer Elizabethport Plant in New Jersey. From where did I get"1928" I think it is on the machine itself. But it is in storage, so I cannot check it. So. It is either 1928 or 1929. It has been converted to electric. But can still be used as a treadle sewing machine. It is of collector quality as the paint shows no wear in my opinion. The black and the colorful paint is all nicely in tact and is in close-to-new condition. All parts move freely. And there is only some rust(that I can see) on the underside especially the center shaft. Also. The hand wheel may have slight surface rust. I say ... morethis because my damp cloth had orange on it when I wiped off the hand wheel. Here are the parts needed to complete this beauty: 1. A bobbin case pointing at 1:00 position and bobbin. 2. A sliding bobbin plate. 3. A pedal. 4. A new tire for the bobbin winder as the present one appears to be original and is brittle although still in place. All parts turn easily by hand. Included is a 7-Drawer Treadle Sewing Cabinet with Nice Wrought Iron Base. The wrought iron base has Singer in black. If it originally was gold. Then it was painted. I found it this way. I cleaned it up a little, oiled it up a little now it sews great! The stitch length adjustment works. i was a Viking certified repair technician for their sewing machines. Sergers and quilting machines. i repaired all brands and ages of sewing machines for ~ 4 yrs(then my mother sold her business in April 2011) i probably repaired& tuned-up 1,000 machines or more. this listing is for a 1928 Antique Singer sewing machine that sews well(it was not made to sew in reverse) it comes with it's original carrying case(in good condition for it's age) 3 Presser feet, 4 bobbins, a twin needle and an extra needle, an extra belt and other parts. it does not have a user's guide/instruction manual[but this machine is easy to use regardless.just thread it properly.adjust the tensions-bobbin case, upper thread tensioner- presser foot pressure(twist knob on-top of it) and stitch length knob on the right front of the machine] the sliding cover ... moreto remove a bobbin comes completely off easily when it is pulled to the left. it stays in it's proper place for sewing. i cleaned, oiled, adjusted, sew tested and cleaned-up the motor& power/electrical system of this machine. also there's obviously visible wear to the machine's paint. Lettering and gold colored design in certain areas(see photos) the area where machine pivot's up to see the underneath side& storage area has been repaired. the sewing light well works, but stays on in an in-between position. just another example of this machine's age and it's use. it's a well used machine, but it still runs and sews very well. the items in my picture are the items you will receive. see my other listing if interested. for this item& my upcoming listings. Vintage 1928 Singer Model 99 Electric Sewing Machine, Gold Filigree, Case TESTED
Singer Electric Sewing Machine MODEL 99. Serial#AC086991. Made in 1928(1 of 15000 made that year) This Model 99 is a"Knee Lever" version. Which facilitates the knee bar motor control mechanism. Works great, and is very easy to get used to even if you are accustomed to the standard foot control mechanism. This sewing machine is in good working condition. It stitches tightly and evenly. There is one bobbin included. The Singer website has a full digital instruction manual for this machine that shows the threading method and other general facts about usage. I've threaded this machine up and done a sample stitch for you to see(see photo#10) As you can see. The machine is working very nicely. It could probably use a detailed cleaning and lubing, but all mechanical parts are in good shape. Motor works strong and has a good belt. The ... morelight works well, and has a very cool 1920's industrial metal shade. Cosmetic condition of the machine is good! This unit has the fancy"gold filigree" pattern. There are certainly some marks and nicks on the unit. But it's overall cosmetic appearance is quite handsome. This machine comes with it's original"Bentwood" case top, which has a punched hole in top. It is still structurally sound and works as a carrying handle without issue. There is no key present for the case top, but it can be opened quite easily with a flathead screwdriver. The inside of the keyhole has some wear from it being opened with this method. Locking mechanism still works well, however. This machine is sold as-pictured. Please view all of the supersized images for cosmetic details. Here is an antique Singer Model 99 sewing machine with wood carry case and includes the knee pedal too. This machine has been tested and does work but it runs slwoly. The motor runs strong and fast but I think the old oils are gummed up making the rest run slow. It will require a tune up/clean up. Im no pro so so I don't know if there are any small parts missing so please look the photos over goof. The machine will show signs of age and use as will the wood case. This case does close and lock and is strong for carrying by the handle but i dont have the key for the lock. The lock us just a simple type and operates with a small flathead screwdriver. I referenced the Singer and it appears the unit was issued in 1928. Further research indicates that this is a 99-13 Singer Sewing Machine. I cannot verify this specifically but there were limited units released in 1928. Please bear in mind this item is approximately 86 years old and is in vintage condition with wear and tear associated with its age. Unit will need cleaned and there is fading on some of the design. Please see pictures for conditioning. The motor is not attached so I was not able to test the unit.However. I was told by the party selling it that the unit was in working condition. I was able to test the light and verify that it is working. This is a beautiful example of Singer craftsmanship. Watch the video! This is a knee pedal machine with the lever. Compared to the machines today these are industrial quality and some use them to sew leather and upholstery. If you can get it under the foot it will sew through it. As you can see this machine is beautifully preserved and well maintained. There is still oil in the hardware and I was told that it had been recently serviced. A sewing professional has assured me that it is a 1928 AC model and very sought after. I have tried to thread the machine but could not find instructions on how to do so. The wooden case has a couple of issues(has overspray white paint spots) They come off when scratched with finger nail. Missing release button. I had to use a small screw driver(I can remove the catch before shipping so it wont be locked when you receive it. The sewing machine works as it should. The motor appears strong and the easy to attach foot pedal is used but works as it should. You will also get several attachements/ rufflers and assorted other singer items.
