Here is an 1882 vintage Singer hand crank sewing machine inan end opening mahogany case with a working lock and key. The serial number reads 5278577 which indicates it was madein 1882. It is cast iron andsurprisingly heavy. It sews a perfect stitch with an oscillating shuttle. Youcan see the photo of the stitches it made. The black finish on the machine itselfis a little dull with some wearing away of the finish on the front edge of thefiddle base. I just lubricated the machine and it spins very smoothly. It couldbe fitted into a treadle base because it has holes and a groove to accept atreadle belt. The mahogany case is in good condition with a few wear marks onthe top edges. The key is included. I am pleased to offer this antique hand crank sewing machine. I do not know who made this circa 1870's sewing machine. But I think you experts will. The machine is cast iron. The cast iron base measures approximately 12" long, by 7 1/4" wide. Overall height is about 10" tall. It weighs about 11.5 pounds. This is a rather plain machine, with a little ornamentation on the base. Due to it's simplicity, it may have been for industrial use. The condition is about good. I think you could sew with this, if you had a needle. The crank turns smooth as silk. There are several buggered up brass teeth on the gear, but that does not affect the cranking. I think the body has been repainted. There is no paint on the base at all. The bed is pretty decent, with some lighter pitting. Cast iron has some rust, but not too bad. All old paint was removed and repainted with black paint and after new decals where put on it was sprayed with clear to seal and protect the new decals. Bradbury Fiddle Base Hand Crank Sewing Machine Gold leaf& Duke pattern c. 1890 the Decals on the bed are quite worn but those on the arm clearly show the plain leaf design. The Duke of Wellington Trade Mark is at the base of the pillar. My husband(sewing machine repair man) bought it to restore but never did. He is gone now so I am passing it on. I have not cleaned it for fear I will damage. I did check the crank etc and it turns easily and needle holder goes up a down nicely. The crank handle is NOT connected to the crank but both turn nicely and the bar that connects them is there. There is no needle. It is the rare Fiddle base It is still mounted on original wood base but it does not have the case cover.

Antique 1901 hand crank Singer sewing machine with wooden base and case in very good condition! There is normal wear on the case(light scratches) and light. Normal wear on the sewing machine. Wheel seems to spin smoothly and the needle goes up and down with ease. The case features a latch on one end and two metal pieces on the opposite side to keep the case closed. Features a beautiful gold floral on black design and metal front also has a gorgeous floral design in the metal. The serial number is"L871749" Altogether with the case included. Very Nice 1885 "Fiddle Base" Hand Crank Singer Sewing Machine From England
This auction is for a nice& older model Hand Crank Singer Sewing Machine on what is called a"fiddle base" with it's"domed top" carring case from England. It woeks smoothly and all moving parts move freely. It has a serail number of 6728716 which dates it made in 1885. The case is in overall good contion with an old repair made to one of the ends. See pictures below The decals are very good for it's age and it still has it's bobbin& scuttle. I would say the Decals are 90% intact if not a little higher. You can still see the"reds& greens" decals which is quite rare on these old machines. These make wonderful item for display in your home or sewing room plus it will still work if you care to give it a try. The only defect I could find is one end of the carrying case has an old repair made ... moreto it where the wood split. See pictures below. It has a Walnut Patina to it, It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) nicks, dings& scratches to the case as well to the base of the machine from normal use over the years, but for it's age and travels it's in overall good condition and ready to set out and use and enjoy. Rare Restored Henry Stewart Hand Crank Sewing Machine Fiddle Base Sews Very Well
this listing is for a: Rare Restored 1879[ i think this date is about right] Henry Stewart Fiddle Base Hand Crank Sewing Machine- that Sews Very Well(see the sew test in the pictures) the entire unit has been: Cleaned. Repaired(wood base re-glued, slide plate replaced, screws that hold the machine to the base were replaced with nice brass screws, and the closest belt guard screw was replaced) Serviced/sew tested/adjusted and restored to a fine looking& working order. there appear to be some interesting stories about Henry Stewart and some of his New York City made sewing machines produced around the time i think this one was. this may be one of those machines. i acquired it from New Jersey about 1 yr ago. here's more of what i did to greatly improve it: cleaned and polished all metal parts.cleaned the gear teeth and properly adjusted ... moretheir positioning.repainted most of the machine except the belt guard& inner cover for the hand crank(both of which still show original design details rather well)the upper part of the machine was clear coated with polyurethane. The underside was only repainted.re-glued/sanded and stained& sealed the solid walnut wood base(the bottom of the base was sanded& stained slightly only.the bottom of the wood base is basically smooth& other rusty parts used to attach it to a cabinet were moved)the parts on the outside ends of the base were removed/cleaned/oiled and put back on.added a model 12 needle. and replaced the bobbin winder tire and notched screw hole about 1/4" to the left to make the tire contact the hand wheel better(now the winder winds bobbins well. this machine comes with one original bobbin- that i wound on this machine- it's original shuttle) the hand crank should be turned away from the user/clockwise, otherwise the hand wheel screw may start to unwind itself. the crank works well in both direction(when not sewing) fwiw. when winding a bobbin, if you seem to have started it"the wrong way"just remove the bobbin and reverse it. it

Early Antique Circa 1900 Hand Crank Sewing Machine w/Detachable Base
An Early Hand Crank Sewing Machine in fair condition. I would date this piece early 1900's or even before. It mounts on a detachable base. The base is ornate with great carved feet. It has reddish paint on the outside but the underside is black. There is no name on this machine that we can see. A number on the sewing plate is N67712. When you crank it. It seems to go up and down but will need adjustments. If anyone out there knows what this machine is, we would like to know. This machine measures 11 1/4" x 6 1/2" at the base and the mechanism measures 4 3/4" x 2 1/2" and stands 8" high. Check out the photos.
