This was the first Singer to be designed specifically ... moreas an electric machine. All previous electric machines were converted treadle or hand crank machines. This machine was pretty complicated. The base was cast in one piece from aluminum. This machine cost $250 back in the 20s. Which was a ton of money. Due to the cost it did not sell well and they are very hard to find today. One in good working condition is even harder to find. It was replaced with the second electric#201 in 1939, which most Singer folks think was the best machine Singer ever made. This light came from machine Serial#AB565669. It is in great clean condition and working fine. Still has the lead tube over the wire and the insulated tube that runs from the end of the lead to the end of the wire. Never seen a reason for the lead tube. Only thing I can think of is that it was a shield for the motor interference which would cause the light to flicker. The wire runs very close to the motor. If it was to protect the wire from oil. Singer probably would have used something else, like a rubber shield. The lead is separated in one spot and has a nick in another spot, but it is all there. The wiring is still very good and pliable. The light reflector is in super condition. Includes the bulb and the set screw to hold the light in place on the machine arm. If you are trying to rebuild Grandma's old 101. This light will work great.

Rare Antique Howe Model G Treadle Sewing Machine Works w/ Table Drawers Bonnet
NOTE: This is pick up only! No exceptions! You must pick it up as it is pictured. Completely assembled. I will not take it apart and prep it for shipping. If you are hiring a transport company, they must take it completely assembled, as it is pictured. This is a Rare Antique Howe Treadle Sewing Machine. Serial number 1126390. Made by Elias Howe Sewing Machine Co. NY. USA. The last patent date on the bobbin cover is 1878. From what I can gather is this is a model G from the shuttle style. This version has a stitch length gauge on the main body. Older versions only had the adjustment knob. It is complete and in working order. The flywheel and foot pedal move with ease. It has a new treadle cord. The machine has been serviced and oiled to get into working condition. It does miss an occasional stitch because the shuttle is very worn. The shuttle ... moreis for a Davis machine. But is an equivalent replacement for the Howe G shuttle. The bobbin is from a Singer 27. You will not be able to wind it on this machine because it needs a small hole on one end to fit into the Howe bobbin winder. When I used the machine, you will see my finger in the video on the top thread guide. For some reason my thread would sometimes loop and jump back on to the guide which double wrapped the thread on that loop and created too much tension. I tried to reposition the loop without bending the part. I could not figure why it does this, so it is being sold as it is in its current condition. Here is a link to the video I made showing this machine sewing: The machine has worn paint by the bobbin covers and all decorative paint is faded or worn away. All unpainted metal parts have an aged appearance with blemishes and wear. The machine rotates with ease. One loop on the nose of the machine was replaced because it was broken. I did not have an original part. But made this guide so it can sew. The original piece is still located under that part. The bobbin winder has a new wheel and spins with ease and locks into place. There remains much, though not all of the mother of pearl inlay. Most of the gold trim and scroll work is gone from the table, though the pattern is visible if the light is right(see photo) I can't tell if its worn off or painted over. Not sure of the date but states that the history section was printed in the Atlantic Monthly May 1867, but from the paper, printing and styles of the machines an educated guess would be 1870. Mouse nibbled lower right corner, light soil cover, some cover wear, a few page corner creases and stains inside, catalog images clean.

This is a vintage collectable Elias Howe Jr Treddle sewing machine head. The sewing machines latest date is 1872. The sewing machine turns freely and see nothing damaged or broken. The only thing I see is the plates on the sewing machine which slide in on each side of needle. One is original it has the dates. very dirty hard to read) the other side was replaced with a piece of tin years gone by. still works properly. Also have a very small 1" x 1/16" with small round ends approx. 1/4" dia. This is a solid cast piece. Probably a bottom spool. Has a small hole on each wheel. reminds me of a small set of wheels) The needle is in machine but has a broken tip. Has the emblem. Turns freely. As found condition. Needs a good cleaning. Complete Antique Elias Howe treadle sewing machine 1800s.
Bidding on this all original howe sewing machine comes complete with the treadle base and the machine all the gears are moving needle goes up and down the treadle is working. pedal and flywheel intact still had some great decal work on the cast Iron base including some of the gold gilding that is in the foot pedal same for the machine itself lots of good paint still on it as well as the painting detailing the wood top is had some repair work to it please take a look at the photographs. This head came off an iron treadle base that broke. The machine turns smooth and has a low serial number. Seems to be in fair condition as the pictures show. Will need cleaned. There is some paint loss as shown and brass tarnishing also shown. This is a heavy piece over thirty pounds and shipping will reflect that weight. I still have the original wood table top. RARE Antique Elias Howe Sewing Machine Model "B" with Instructions & Papers
What a amazing find! Rescued from an attic at an estate sale I attended. It was covered up with an old blanket. Dusty, but exactly like you see it pictured. This thing is in amazing condition for it's age. I enjoy researching new things I find as much as I enjoy looking for them. If you want to know more about Howe sewing machines, go to sewalot dot com/ elias_ howe dot htm. This person has done extensive research and it's really interesting to read how these machines came to exist. The patent dates begin with 1846 and go thru 1878. According to him, the model"B" was first introduced in 1870. The treadle does work and the machine does turn. It feels tight but I'm sure it's from years of sitting and probably the lack of lubricant on the bottom parts of the machine. You can see in one of the pics, some attachments ... morethat was in the draw including the bobbin. I have no idea if all the parts belong to the machine but they were in one of the drawers so they all go with it. The only thing I see missing, I'm pointing at it in one of the pics. There is suppose to be 2 of the ears on the bottom of the cover that hook into the base and one of them is missing. If you look close at the pic of the front of the machine when the cover is on it, you can see a couple of places where the trim is cracked, it could easily be glued back but I personally think it just adds character. After 25 years of picking, I've learned one thing, leave it the way you find it and I have. I did clean the place on the cover so you could read the patent dates. The drop leaf is in great condition with the original hinge on the bottom that works perfect. As far as I can see, everything on this machine and cabinet is original. If that's not amazing enough, the instructions and other paper work was still in the drawer. I'm not sure what the one piece on the left side is, looks like it might have been the tag on the machine when it was sold.
