The table measures 41-3/4" x 16-1/8" when opened and 28-1/2" when folded down. There is a slot for the treadle cord. The bonnet hardware measures 12" apart at the rear and approx. 10" front to back. This was on an ornate treadle base with a patent date from the 1870's. I do not know exactly how old this table is. The wood has wear on top and is very dark in areas. The edges where the table folds has a lot of chipped and flaked veneer. There are gouges where the rear clips from the bonnet were repeatedly hitting the table. The hinges are good. There is supposed to be a support bar that swings out to hold up the table. That is missing. There are also marks underneath where a drawer was mounted on the right side. There are mounting holes for the frame. Each is a two-hole pair with holes 2-3/8" apart. The sets are 9-7/8" from front to back and 21-1/2" apart side to side. We purchased this machine from a person who does not sew. We have found that the Wilcox and Gibbs was probably the most successful of the chain-stitching sewing machines. The"Automatic" was produced continuously unchanged form from 1876 to c.1950. Located in New York City. The company began production in 1858. The company was founded by James Gibbs, and James Willcox. These machines used a single thread to form chain-stitch seams so there is NO bobbin needed. The machines were easy to use and quieter than the lockstitch machines; they were also much less expensive. If you collect sewing machines or just want to display in your home then this is your chance to get one. This machine comes with. Its original manual or book and even some spare needles. This is a very beautiful Restored hand crank Willcox Gibbs sewing machine Ser. No. A733982. I have taken the machine apart and cleaned all parts. Inspected them and found them in very good condition. All old paint was removed and repainted with black and after new decals where put on it was sprayed with clear paint to seal and protect the new decals. The machine is mounted on a solid wood board with a hand crank that turns very easy and sews a good stitch. All nickel plated parts where polished. I have add new felt pads to the bottom to protect the table tops.This machine is in great condition and would be a good one to add to your collection. Question welcome.

This auction is for a very clean WILLCOX& GIBBS cast iron table top sewing machine with hand crank option, New York-Paris-London This machine is in very nice condition retaining most of the gold letting and decoration, the handle also looks original. All moving parts appear to operating, the hand crank is a stiff, but spinning. The sewing deck is straight and clean with some ware expected, there is a needle intact, the chrome still holds a bit of a shine. The earliest patent date looks like 1882, and the last 1894. This is a very very beautiful 1883 Antique Hand Crank Willcox Gibbs sewing machine that I have restored. Serial number A 388765. All old paint was removed and repainted black and after new Original decals where put on it was sprayed with clear paint to seal and protect the new decals. It sew a good stitch and works easy. All parts where cleaned and the nickel parts where polished to a good shine.The wood base is solid Alder with Paw feet and a Early American finish on it. The conglomerate it was at the time, tried to imitate this machine with its#24, but failed to beat it in the market. This little girl is ALL ORIGINAL. She moves easily, sews a great stitch. The decals have minimal wear for her age(please see pictures) and are all-original. This is a very very RARE 153 year old beautiful 1863 Antique Hand Crank Willcox Gibbs Glass Tension sewing machine that I have restored. Serial number 61994. All old paint was removed and repainted black and after new Original decals where put on it was sprayed with clear paint to seal and protect the new decals. It sew a good stitch and works easy. All parts where cleaned and the nickel parts where polished to a good shine.The wood base is solid Alder with Paw feet and a Red Mahogany finish on it. It has new felt pads on the base to protect the table tops. The new decals are made to the original specification for the Willcox Gibbs machine.As the Civil War was being fought at Gettysburg the serial number was being stamped onto this great old machine. As you can see it has some pitting on the cloth plate that will have to remain as part of ... moreit's history. I had to make the looper cover under the cloth plate and do some repair to the machine. But everything looks and works good. This is the oldest Willcox I have seen, and hard for me to offer this one for sell, but here it is. If you collect these great machines this one is a must have for you. You might notice that it doesn't have a medallion on either side, the reason is that the first Willcox Gibbs machines didn't have them. Questions welcome.
