For auction is a just-about-perfect post-1922 Singer chainstitch model 20 sewing machine. Included is the original book. Which has been laminated with thick weight film, copyright 1922, 1926, 1936. The box is original as well. It has been reinforced with clear tape. It is original to the machine and the bottom shows wear. This model 20 is CLEAN. It still has most of the original green felt base intact. The decals are bright and beautiful. It has the more rare black seven-spoked wheel. Antique Germany Child's Toy Sewing Machine DESCRIPTION: Presented for your consideration is this striking miniature German sewing machine. Here we have a most beautiful toy sewing machine that is marked"Germany” on the base. The paint is in excellent condition with no apparent loss. The paint decoration is really outstanding having birds. Vines and berries. It is some of the nicest that you will ever seen. Even the base has vines and berries all the way around. All the moving parts seem to work well with the presser foot going up and down easily and the original needle moving up and down with the turn of the crank wheel. Also included is the original early vintage Gruschwitz wooden spool of thread that was made in Germany. There is no Maker’s mark that we can find other than"Germany" However it does exhibit characteristics ... moreof a Mueller or a Casige. There is a serial number on the sewing plate. The number is"No. 160885" There is some minor light discoloration to the chrome and other bare metal parts. This little miniature machine is certainly a charmer. CONDITION: Clean but can use cleaning in little tight areas. Has dust. Dings, dents, and normal signs of age. Otherwise has no apparent damage or repairs. Good shine on cloth plate with some spotting. Some metal parts have light spotting. Wheel edge is dulled a bit. Bottom green felt is quite torn up and needs replaced. All parts on machine appear to be here according to diagram in booklet. Booklet has new tear on top edge from me. Sorry. From non smoking house. Singer Child's Toy Miniature Sewing Machine 1910 in Antique Oil Box Model 20
Rare Type#1 4-Spoke Child's Miniature Model 20 Sewing Machine of 1910 to 1913. The machine is complete and original except for the cloth guide. Screw and flat screw driver which are reproduction. There are chips and scuffs to the paint, the logos are worn away in places, and much of the nickel plate is rusty in varying degrees. The machine turns freely and everything operates as it should, but I have never tried to sew with it(although I have read that these machines are hard to use because they don't have the thread tensioner of the later models) The table clamp is the correct one for this machine and is original Singer. The antique box is an original item that once held"1 Doz. 3 Oz. White Filtered Stainless Sewing Machine Oil" bottles( of an unknown brand and makes a perfect storage box for the machine and accessories(There ... moreis no lid) Ephemera and accessories include a circa 1910 Singer logo sales card. Unlike the flimsy construction of many vintage toy sewing machines. The heavy cast iron construction of this antique Singer child’s sewing machine gives it an enduring quality and appearance. As you can see by the photos, the machine offered for bid is in great condition, although there are some corrosive spots on the edge of the hand wheel and sewing plate. The sewing mechanism was serviced and functions as designed. More than a toy, women once used this machine for light sewing projects. Also comes with a vintage wooden thread spool, seam guide, clamp(not Singer) and reproduction of the 1914 instructions. It's in good condition for its age(101 years) The glossy black paint finish is good. It has some surface wear in spots. The chrome sewing plate shines. The nickel hand- wheel and other parts are good. The hand-wheel turns and the needle post moves up and down. It has a needle.
