This is a Set of Antique Treadle Sewing Machine Bobbin and Feed Dog Covers. It fits National. Eldredge, American, Waltham, Brunswick and all models with the same"exact" body pictured regardless of the name. The covers have an antique shine with some scratches and fine speckled surface rust that has been cleaned. The feed dog cover measures 1-7/16" diameter and both bobbin covers measure 3-3/8" x 1-3/16" on the bottom edge. It comes with the mounting screw. Antique National Eldredge Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Head
This Antique National Eldredge Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Head has been gently restored. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with its lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. Metal is typically initially cleaned using mineral oil. Or a weak solution of washing soda and water and if necessary brief electrolysis to remove and or convert rust to black oxide. Whichever method is best, a scotch brite plastic cleaning pad is used with water so the underlying metal is not damaged. A heat gun is immediately used to blow dry and eliminate moisture which is followed by a hand rubbed coat of mineral oil. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so, the item is wiped cleaned then hand rub in bees wax to seal it. A weak solution of oil soap and water is used to remove ... moregrime, old oils and dirt from wood which is air or blowed dry with a heat gun. This is followed by a hand rub of“feed and wax" Normally all other materials are simply wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth as appropriate. If the situation requires it, a soft brass bristle brush or“0000” steel wool is used occasionally. A couple of items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt, etc, as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgement of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual oil left in the cleaning process. This can be wiped off but the item may benefit from an additional application of clear oil to further enhance and stabilize the item for extended life. Antique NATIONAL/ B. ELDREDGE Automatic Chain Stitch Sewing Machine- cir. 1890: Up for auction is beautiful Antique National Sewing Machine Company/ B. Eldredge Automatic Chain Stitch Sewing Machine. Nation merged with Eldredge in 1890 and this model displays both of the company's names- NATIONAL SEWING MACHINE COMPANY on the plate and B. ELDREDGE AUTOMATIC on the brass plate mounted on the base of the machine. I re-discovered this smaller sized cast iron sewing machine recently while out on one of my picking adventures here in New Hampshire and when I first saw the items I thought that it was a Willcox& Gibbs because of the almost identical size and design of the two early chain stitch models. This National/ Eldredge sewing machine is in its original(unrestored) condition. When I discovered this sewing machine. It was rather dusty ... morebut in otherwise very good condition. I've thoroughly dusted this machine using some light compressed air and I have wiped down the item using a clean, soft cloth to brighten up the metalwork but I have not taken apart the machine so there may be some additional detailing cleaning needed. It is obvious that this was a treasured item and one that has been gently used in times past. I have not found any physical damage to the sewing machine(cracks. Breaks or repairs) and the cast iron frame is in excellent condition. The only parts of the machine that have any pitting to it are the top of the tension knob and on the front and backside of the spool pin and these areas of'pitting' are extremely light but they are noticeable upon inspection so I wanted to make note of these spots. The needle bar and foot bar also have some light discoloration due to age but these bars are not rusted, pitted or corroded. When I manually turn the small wheel, the components of the machine operate cleanly, smoothly and as they should. The original black paint has retained a nice glossy shine to it and there are only very small areas of loss to the paint. The guilt decorative trim is clearly

Up for bid is this rare early 1900's National Eldredge Two-Spool. Six drawer treadle sewing machine. Tiger" oak. Appears to be in working condition, as the needle moves freely when the treadle is pressed. Overall the condition is very good, minor veneer popping up on the top. It has original metal box with attachments. The drawers are dove tailed. Model H3068, which I have yet to find the exact year. B Eldredge automatic model 44 chain stitch. An exact clone of the willcox and Gibbs model 64. Only about 100000 of these were produced. This one is serial number 43426. Produced late 1800's. I could not put an exact date on it. Sorry as I could not find a cross reference online. I purchased this from an estate sale today in gurnee Illinois which is about 65 miles from where this was manufactured. Absolute beautiful condition and functions like a dream. I made no attempt to clean or dust it. I will leave that part to a true collector that knows what they are doing. Only tested it with power and it operates silently. It appears to have been used Very sparingly. The foot pedal appears to have never been stepped on. The Bentwood case is in excellent condition an locks onto the solid wood base. My husband and I purchased this NATIONAL sewing machine at an Amish auction. It was complete when we bought it. But the wood was falling apart and all we could salvage was the cast iron pedal/stand, the wooden drawers and the machine pictured here. We sold the wooden drawers already. My husband makes furniture and turned the pedal/stand into a small table. So all we have left is the machine pictured. We actually displayed it in our home for a few years because it makes a great decorative piece-especially in the autumn because of the gold leaf detail. We are always changing the items in our home and decided to move this piece on for someone else to love! Original antique National Sewing Machine Company" Eldredge Automatic" sewing machine marked 45808 in good condition. The shipping charge is for Mountain& Pacific time zones and those in ET CT zones will get a 5.oo dollar refund after the item ships. The machine seems to work fine when the wheel is turned but likely needs some restoration to be a fully operating machine again. I do not know if this is complete so please use the zoom function to inspect. There are some nicks in the finish with most being around the edge of the base. The machine has some old oil stain and a thin haze on much of the painted parts. It does look like it will come off with a proper cleaning. There are rust spots on the plate and on some of the other unpainted metal. Please write with any questions.
