Vintage Singer Toy/Childs Model Sewing Machine-Model 20 - Dates 1914-1925
Singer Model 20 Child's Sewing Machine 1914-1925 What a great estate find. I had fun doing the research on this one. This machine was first introduced in 1910 as a childs sewing machine. It was built and functions as a true machine. It is cast iron and metal and is meant to be clamped to a table to keep it steady while hand cranking. This version dates between 1914 and 1925. After 1925. They had stamped numbers on the thread path. I have a print out for the thread path( will include) These machines were intended for use by children to learn to sew. They stitch a chain stitch. there is no bobbin. There is a hook mechanism that catches the thread as the fabric moves forward. There is a stitch length adjustment as well. I cleaned this up a little. I know that more of the crud can be removed with solvents on the metal parts. I sewed a few ... moresamples with it and it really does a good job. Because it is a chain stitch. It can be easily removed. The clamp in the picture is not original.it is from my toolbox. I will include it because this tiny machine need to be anchored to the table in order to clamp it. There is plenty of info on line regarding threading and using this great little machine. I hope that the pictures tell all you need to know.let me know if you need more. This is a beautiful vintage Singer Model 99 sewing machine in bent wood case dated via its serial number to be from 1925. This machine shows a bit of wear. But is in great condition for its age(it's 85 years old! The motor is strong and the machine operates smoothly when turned by hand or by the motor. This unit comes with a unique sewing motor controller designed for knee operation. The electrical cords from the unit are in very good shape. SINGER MODEL 99 PORTABLE SEWING MACHINE IN CASE ca. 1925
This beautiful vintage Singer 99 sewing machine is all metal construction.The serial number is AA 701764 and dates to October 22. 1925 and was made in Elizabeth, N.J. The machine only sews one stitch(straight stitch) and it does so very well. It's heavy all metal construction renders a very smooth and vibtation free operation. This is a 3/4 size machine with a harp size of about 6.25 wide by 6.50 inches high which is plenty large enough for most projects. It uses standard 15x1 needles and a class 66 bobbins which are readly availabe. Most commonly available presser feet for short shank, vertical needle machines will work. There are some packages of new needles, bobbins and some accessories included as pictured in listing. The maching has been cleaned. Oiled, adjusted and tested.
