Vintage / Antique SINGER Sewing machine w/ foot pedal and case 1927?
Vintage SINGER Sewing machine. It has the serial number of AB662694. Looking at the serial number this one was made in 1927. I did plug it in and it does work somewhat. You can hear it running when you press the pedal. The only thing is it wont make the needle go up and down. Not sure if its an easy fix or not. I guess you can use it for parts or if you are familiar with this you can get it work. For as old as it is its in really good shape. Shuttle, bobbins, needles, scissors, but I do not have any Singer accessories or the manual. Overall size is 17” x 12” x 8 ¼” This machine was well used but also very well cared for. It is a very clean machine with only some scuffs on the surface and wear to the decals. The compartment cover has some paint loss and rusting. It seems to be working perfectly– all of the mechanisms move freely. The case is walnut and is in good condition as well- both latches/locks are working and the key is included. There are some scuffs and scrapes to the surface. Overall. For an 87 year old sewing machine, it is in great shape! The light works. This was originally off a treadle base. Everything is there except the electric motor because the original one had bad wires. Even the motor mounting bolts are there. The serial number is Y5048771. I verified the model number from the International Sewing Machine Collectors Society(ISMACS) website. Their page shows that serial numbers ranging from Y5011314 to Y5111313 belong to Singer Model 66K manufactured on August 1st. 1927. Instruction manual, in PDF) can be downloaded from the Singer website. This was an estate sale find. I am not a sewing or sewing machine expert. What I can tell you is that the machine appears to be in very good condition considering its age. There is some paint wear from the original lettering(pictured) It is very clean and not dusty or grimy. The hand crank turns easily and the needle moves ... moreup and down as it should. There is NO KEY, however, they are readily available for less than $10 on ebay. I used a small flat screwdriver and it operates the latch with no problem. 1927 Singer foot treadle and sewing machine operates like new. Wooden top and drawers have been painted. Machine and all cast iron treadle are original finish from factory.
