ANTIQUE VINTAGE CANE UMBRELLA PLANT STAND OCTAGONAL MAHOGANY VICTORIAN BEDPOST
24" tall. 11" diameter cane or umbrella stand. Octagonal column is constructed of solid mahogany boards, molding around the bottom is also mahogany, four feet are veneered. I think that this stand was made from the bottom section of a mid-Victorian bed post from a tester bed. If you are familiar with beds made by cabinetmakers like Mallard or Lee, the octagonal form was very popular. For whatever reason(fashion, low ceilings) a bed was taken apart and the lowest section of a bedpost was repurposed as a hall stand with the addition of four scroll feet- that look like they came from a Victorian footstool and two handles on the side that look like sections of molding. The reconfiguration was not done recently- the nails holding the feet in show some surface rust and the screws attaching the bottom panel are not new either. The reimagining ... moreof the bedpost was probably done in the mid 20th century or before. It makes an interesting history and I think it makes a very handsome and impressive looking stand for your canes or umbrellas. It would make a great stand for a fern or other houseplant too. The finish on the wood is old. The mahogany has a lovely dark red color. There is finish wear and some scratches and marks, the veneer is quite worn on the feet. There is a split on one of the eight panels that would be an easy fix with wood glue and some strap clamps. This is what I believe to be a Vintage Victorian hat stand. I found this with my mother's collection of antique dresses and hats. The base appears to be cast iron. The top is part wood; see pictures for details. Height is about 11 1/4" tall. Base is approx. 5 3/4" diameter. Condition: This does show signs of wear from use. But still in good condition. For sale is a Victorian Walnut Wall Shelf. The shelf is“C” curve molded with pierced accents on the shaped brackets. It appears to have been refinished at some time. The“new” finish is old and beginning to craze. Dimensions from the widest points are 36” wide. 8” deep and 14” from shelf to bottom of bracket. There are 3 counter sunk mounting holes. This item is in excellent condition with no missing or broken parts and it is made from solid oak. There are a total of 4 large hat holders and additional 8 pegs on the bottom for more hats. The front middle section is also for additional storage which hangs open by 2 metal chains with a beautiful vintage print. The print is in excellent condition with no stains or tears and the colors are bright and vivid with no fading. This is a rare and gorgeous 3 legged cast iron victorian stand that I believe was used for communion. It has a beautiful original rich gold paint and a very victorian feel to the detailing of the piece. It shows light signs of wear consistent with the piece but overall just a stunning piece in 100% original condition including the original chains which is amazing. The three characters on the piece appear to be classic griffin characters. This piece does come disassembled to protect this antique piece in shipping though to put it back together means simply screwing in about 6 screws so it is quite simple. Up for Auction is a Brass Vintage Antique Victorian Style Table Top Towel. Tie or Hat Rack. Has wear with age but overall in good working shape. Easy to diasassemble for storage or cleaning. Parts screw on and off as seen in last picture. There is minor rust on the threads of some screws but not visible when assembled. It doesnt interfere with taking the pieces on and off either. Im pretty sure this is an old Towel Rack for a large Sink but could be used as a hat or tie rack on a vanity just as well. Measures spprox 11" tall by 10" wide at ends of top rack pieces. f you like the look of objects with patina and a past. Here's a find for you. Available is a vintage antique Victorian fern stand. If a darkened patina is what you are after, this fern stand certainly has it. Some may wish to polish the metal. I like the way it looks darkened from time. It's a true object from the past. I believe the metal is brass, but I am not sure. It measures 30 inches tall. The metal top is 13 inches square, the marble piece is 8 inches square. The legs do not go straight down, they flare out a bit. They make a 16 inch square. I don't know the exact year this was made, or the maker. I am listing it as a fern stand. You can put any sort of plant on this if you can't grow a fern. It will be our little secret! This is just a wee bit wobbly. Nothing a fast tightening with a screwdriver didn't fix.
