Up for your consideration is a fine walnut plant pedestal/stand that probably dates from the late 1800's. I believe the unique size makes this item practical and functional for many uses and areas. It is in very good original found condition. There appears to be no damage or missing parts( one of the slats on the bottom may have been replaced-hard to tell- See picture five(5) It does show wear(mostly on top) which is consistent and appropiate for the age and use. It is in the original finish with a great patina. The ribbed center column is an interesting design for the piece. Should be pretty simple to restore. Base appears to be pecan or walnut and has only one small nick that I can see~ Round stand top is appears to be mahogany and turns around on a type of swivel so your plants can be rotated without picking them up! The seam is visible where the 2 half circles have been put together~just the way it was crafted. In need of a good cleaning and oil to bring it easily back to natural beauty. Antique 19th Century Victorian Era Walnut Stone Bird Topped Plant Stand UNIQUE!
VERY UNUSUAL antique victorian era plant stand. The stone top was probably hand painted and glazed somehow. I'm not an expert on what the materials etc are for this piece. I bought this many years ago from an estate sale and have loved it through the years. I remember the person I bought it from in Indianapolis said it had been in the family for years. It is in good shape as the pics show with various wear around the legs. The stone top has some crazing and there is one thin crack that goes from the edge to approx. 1/3 in towards the center- see last pic. It measures 31" tall. No makers mark. Great carving. I think it is black walnut. Its in good original condition. Only damage is the right arm was broken off& glued back on some time ago. It is a pretty tight fit. There is also an age crack on the back& right side. No bad chips or gouges. It stands 28 1/2 inches tall. The base is 8 5/8 inches across. Top is 7 1/4 inches across. The recessed lip on top is 5 1/2 inches across. Man in a toga. Looks to be holding a Lilly Pad? Nice detailed carving. You don't see to many of these. Any questions just ask. THis is an Estate Sale find that was sold to me as a Victorian walnut piece. It looks to have it's original finish. There are some scratches and a water stain on the top. It seems sturdy with no broken or loose pieces. It would look awesome with a nice fern on top or whatever else you can imagine. It is app. 31" tall x(15 1/2" long and 11 1/2" wide on the top piece. My friend who deals in Antiques called and told me that it could also be a side table or a Parlor table because of the size of the top. Carved Walnut Figural Victorian Egret & Dolphin Pedestal Plant Stand
For your consideration is this carved walnut figural Victorian pedestal stand. It measures just over 26" tall with the base at 10" in diameter and the top at 8" in diameter. It features a very elaborate design that includes a carved full bodied bird. An egret I believe, with it's talons holding a fish which does resemble a dolphin. It's all solid walnut and likely dates to the late 19th century, 1890 to possibly 1910 or so. The round dished top could hold a plant or a variety of decorative objects for display purposes. Calling cards were popular in the day and this could be a stand that received those. However it is used today, it would make quite an impact in a variety of interior settings. It remains in very well preserved condition with only a small worn spot on the base and a no harm, tight crack in the dished top. ... moreNothing that detracts. I am Selling a Original 1880's Victorian Period Fern Stand. The piece is made of Walnut wood with a beautiful detailed designed base with three legs. The stand measures 30" tall. Top is 14" round and base is also about 14" wide. The Stand is in great, clean original condition, solid with no breaks or damage, top has usual lite wear for its age and again has not be restored, just polished. Victorian 1880s American Eastlake Walnut Plant Stand 32 3/4" tall
Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: Beautiful true antique Victorian plant stand. American Eastlake period. Dates to the 1880s or 1890s. Solid walnut. Tripod legs. Square top. Has incised carving on legs as well as incised carving of horseshoe on top. Solid and sturdy. Over 120 years old. Good condition for age. Structurally solid. Vigorously refinished at one time(not by us) Overly shiny newer finish used when refinished. Slight seam separation on board top is not a crack but just a slight separation on boards on top(pic#4) Finish on top has some blemishes when refinished(looks like a roller touched is a few places when finish applied) Minor wear. Scratches, and dings as expected on a piece of this age. To me the blemishes are quite minor and this is a beautiful antique American Victorian plant stand ready to use. Measures about 32 3/4" ... moretall. Top is about 15 5/8" square.
