Antique Umbrella Stand / Cane Stand Mid 19TH Century Embossed 4 Sided Scenes
Here up for bid is a very nice well made antique mid 19th century brass umbrella/ cane stand that is 25" tall and is 10 1/4" square. It is 4 sided with different embossed scenes on each side. It has 4 lion paw feet and has a metal liner. Towards the bottom there is embossed onion shaped design. This stand had been professionally refinished and oxidized and lacquered. There is a seam all the way down one of the edges where it was join together when originally made. And shows the solder. See photos. The metal liner shows some kind of epoxy where it was repaired probably from a crack on the corners. It really is in very good condition for its age. The scenes look to be some kind of conquistadors. Antique pair of Edwardian marquetry pedestals stands 19th century
This pair of pedestals is each 43 inches tall. They are not an identical match. They are inlaid with urns on the front and near the top. They have borders made of an exotic wood. These are English from the Edwardian period. They date to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. Each pedestal has a little bit of veneer missing on a bottom corner. There are some other small chips to the wood but nothing significant. A similar pair sold at an auction in England last year for $3700. Please see photos for details. Antique Eastlake Victorian Quilt Rack; 19th Century, Walnut Towel Drying Stand
Up for bids we offer this Eastlake Victorian quilt rack in very good condition. Right out of an estate. This piece is all original and has not been restored. Made of walnut, the finish is well-preserved and not alligatored. This stand is still very sturdy and useful; it's not rickety or falling apart. It has three rods for hanging items on with two more matching ones at the bottom that serve as braces to keep the rack stable. As the photos show, it's ornate and would look great among other Victorian furniture but also is pretty enough to be used anywhere. It measures 23 inches long, 28 1/4 inches high and 10 5/8 inches wide. One small wooden peg-ornament is missing on one of the feet. There is a hairline ... morecrack on one edge of the marble top(see image 9) On the inside bottom. Someone has re-glued around the legs most likely to make the stand sturdier. There is piece missing on one side in the center bottom of the ornate skirt that connected one side of a flower to the side of another flower. See photo. I approximate this missing piece at about one-half inch. Having presented the condition. One would have to still say this highly ornate piece is still spectacular and stunning. There is a plant stand very similar to this one that recently sold on eBay for close to $2,000 and some sellers are currently asking for more. However, to make a fair and proper adjustment for the condition issues this lovely piece has, we have opted to open the bidding at a much lower price to leave room for the owner to have the problem areas repaired if desired. Personally, I would put that leg with the missing toward a wall or corner so it was hidden from view. A RARE Brothers Grimm RED RIDING HOOD Iron Umbrella Stand 19th Century European
RARE RED RIDING HOOD umbrella stand 19th century cast iron European antique from the U.K. or from Germany. R 19750 cast into the body main and also underneath the tray. Appropriate wear from use and age to paint surface throughout- see images for a complete look at condition- ask questions. These are rarely seen and desirable to collectors of 19th century Victorian furnishings. From the popular imagination. Authored by the Brothers Grimm, a fairy tale iron umbrella stand. Nearly 55 pounds, 38.5 inches tall by 21 inches wide with removable tray. This one with original paint- others found on the internet- and there are only 2-3 others total to be found. Have been described as sandblasted to bare metal and sealed. No rust whatsoever. SEE: Cast Iron Umbrella Stand Of Red Riding Hood $5.500.00- 1stdibs. It consists of 4 separate components bolted ... moretogether with the fifth being the removable tray with handle. See: Collectors Pounce on Red Riding Hood an article by the Kovels about the 2003 California auction featuring this item as the PREMIER ITEM. That one sold for $4950. The TOP MONEY item of 200 pieces offered. This one has two notable condition problems which I will leave to the buyer. 1) A piece of iron is missing at the back. Stage right, mostly hidden by the tray and barely visible when displayed, but it is a notable loss: SEE LAST IMAGE. 2) The center standard has a break near the middle. It is a perfect break and detectable only by the crack line. This center standard is completely removable and may be isolated on a workbench to effect an easier repair. I have been advised to use JB Weld on the back for a permanent repair but this is such an outstanding antique I will leave it to the buyer and their archivist to resolve. SEE 3rd to last and 2nd to last images for a clear description of this clean break on this center front standard which is the smallest and lightest of any of the parts. 19th Century Antique American Rococo Revivial Rosewood and Maple Etagere, Meeks
An American Rococo Revival rosewood and maple étagère. Circa 1845– 1860. Possibly J. and J.W. Meeks. Carved urn and C-scroll crest over a domed mirror with C-scroll frame flanked by shelves with undulating edges and elaborate scroll work. The shelves are supported by spool turned poles topped with urn finials. The center step top base has a variegated black marble top with undulating edge flanked by two undulating tops with gadrooned edges. The center has a door with elaborate scroll fretwork opening to reveal a maple interior with undulating shelves. The legs are a dramatic cabriole shape ending in scroll feet. The apron is carved with a floral and scroll edge. A scroll carved cross stretcher conjoins with a central open urn. Measurements: 110” H x 44” W x 25” deep, approximately. This piece has been in my family for almost a hundred ... moreyears. It's being sold my family home. It has been recently cleaned and had a few minor issues repaired by a local New Orleans antique repair person. And it's ready to display in that special home.
