This majestic 19th century piece is positively stunning and features an ornately carved crest. Raised panels of burl walnut, carved rosettes, incised carvings, the original mirrors and the original recessed beveled edge marble top, with shaped walnut display shelves flanking the center mirror. Truly a grand statement piece you would be proud to showcase in your home. This fabulous étagère measures 105 1/2 inches( 8' 9 1/2" in total height. Height to the marble at the base is 29 3/4 inches, with a total width of 54 inches and total depth at the base of 19 inches and this étagère weighs approximately 250 lbs total but does dis-assemble into 3 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The original mirror at the center measures 46 3/4 inches in height by 22 1/2 inches wide. This Victorian étagère is in fantastic antique condition. The original mirrors do show some mild spidering silver loss as common with old mirrors. And the original white beveled edge recessed marble top has no chips or cracks but does have some mild discoloration as age appropriate. There is also a small age shrinkage area to the wood by the bottom mirror on the right side see picture of close-up, and a piece of burl veneer missing on the left side towards the back; see close up picture. Neither of these affects the integrity or beauty this elegant piece offers. The locks are intact on the drawer and the cabinet below but the key provided just aids in opening the drawer and the cabinet. It could be used for a myriad of things. It is carved from Fruitwood and has three shelves. Each shelf is beautifully decorated in a pyrography technique and painted in vibrant colors. The top shelf is decorated with a house and a windmill under a large tree and vibrant greenery surrounding the house. There are several sprigs with flowers and leaves- also in different hues of green and floral colors. The ... morebottom shelf is decorated on it's almost entire surface with sprigs of different floral motifs, life daisies, zinnias, Indian Paint Brushes, etc. The stand is very heavy and carved from Fruitwood and is in good used condition. The beautiful patina of this really enriches it's presence. There is also a pearl like stencil decor around the periphery of the shelves. The top shelf has a railing so it could be used as a stand for porcelain or other knick nacks. It stands 35.5" high, 22" wide, and 12.5" deep. It has been used and has some spots but it doesn't detract from the intrinsic beauty of the item. The right front corner of the bottom shelf has been repaired as can be seen in the photos. This a great looking etagere from the 1800s. It has four shelves and is made of oak. With brass accents and a mirror. Measures 52" tall x 17-1/2" wide x 12-1/2" deep. The stained and varnished scroll-sawed back is of plywood and does not appear to be original to the piece. It is nailed to the back edge of the shelves and could be removed. Original Victorian ~ ONYX& BRONZE ETAGERE DISPLAY STAND WITH ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL ONYX SHELF INSERTS AND FINIALS ~ This amazing Victorian etagere was acquired out of wonderful Midwest Victorian estate. It is by far the nicest example that we have ever had the opportunity to offer for auction. The display stand measures 68 inches tall by 40 inches wide by 14 inches deep. The over all condition is quite nice with the exception of one missing mirror" easy replacement" The patina is 100% all original and we left it in untouched& uncleaned condition, just as it was when discovered in the estate. All seven of the original onyx shelves and fancy finials are in nice condition, with only expected natural inclusions. We have seen several of the smaller plant stands that were similar ... morein design, but never anything this exceptional. This ornate etagere would have been quite expensive to purchase, when it was new over some 100 or so years ago. I would imagine that very few could afford such a fine luxury as this, and not many were ever made. It does have numbers and some markings on the back. This majestic 19th century piece is positively stunning and features an ornately carved crest. Raised panels of burl walnut, carved rosettes, incised carvings, the original mirrors and the original recessed beveled edge marble top, with shaped walnut display shelves flanking the center mirror. Truly a grand statement piece you would be proud to showcase in your home. This fabulous étagère measures 105 1/2 inches( 8' 9 1/2" in total height. Height to the marble at the base is 29 3/4 inches, with a total width of 54 inches and total depth at the base of 19 inches and this étagère weighs approximately 250 ... morelbs total but does dis-assemble into 3 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The original mirror at the center measures 46 3/4 inches in height by 22 1/2 inches wide. This Victorian étagère is in fantastic antique condition. Lovingly cared for through 4 generations of our family. This truly is a Beautiful and Elegant Piece. Elaborately carved mahogany, with a full length center mirror above 2 shelves and one drawer, flanked by turner posts and six small shelves in front. 80" x 42" x 13" The original diamond dust mirror is a rare find and in perfect condition. No haze, no scratches or cracks and is clear and bright. It literally sparkles in every kind of light. My understanding is. That w hen silver was first used in the backing of mirrors it did not coat evenly and would flake off. It was later discovered that by adding mercury to the mix. The silver would spread evenly across the glass. In this process the mercury evaporated leaving the silver, which left a telltale sign. what appears to be diamond dust. 19th Century Antique American Rococo Revivial Rosewood and Maple Etagere, Meeks
An American Rococo Revival rosewood and maple étagère. Circa 1845– 1860. Possibly J. and J.W. Meeks. Carved urn and C-scroll crest over a domed mirror with C-scroll frame flanked by shelves with undulating edges and elaborate scroll work. The shelves are supported by spool turned poles topped with urn finials. The center step top base has a variegated black marble top with undulating edge flanked by two undulating tops with gadrooned edges. The center has a door with elaborate scroll fretwork opening to reveal a maple interior with undulating shelves. The legs are a dramatic cabriole shape ending in scroll feet. The apron is carved with a floral and scroll edge. A scroll carved cross stretcher conjoins with a central open urn. Measurements: 110” H x 44” W x 25” deep, approximately. This piece has been in my family for almost a hundred ... moreyears. It's being sold my family home. It has been recently cleaned and had a few minor issues repaired by a local New Orleans antique repair person. And it's ready to display in that special home. It's a great piece, loaded with authentic Southern charm. It's truly one of a kind. This auction is for local pickup only unless some other arrangements are made before bidding. Marble and mirrors. This piece features phenomenal carvings from top to bottom and would be a fabulous focal point in a Victorian décor. This étagère is in wonderful antique condition.The original mirrors do show some silver loss and scratches and some staining on the marble as common in pieces of this age.
