Just acquired out of a wonderful. Southern Ohio estate, we are able to offer this exceptionally nice, and quite early, circa 1860's- 1880's era ~ VICTORIAN CAST IRON HALL TREE, UMBRELLA& CANE STAND, SIGNED JOHN MOORE NEW YORK ~ Please be sure to check out all of the 12 pictures we took of it. This is by far the nicest and most unusual example of an original 1870's era, Victorian Cast Iron Hall Tree stand we have ever had the opportunity to offer for auction. It measures 87 inches tall to the top of the fancy pomegranate fruit basket figural finial. The lower"hat rack" arm" by the mirror" with 4 hooks, measures 41 inches across and the top arm with 4 hooks measures 26 inches across. The base measures 28 inches wide by about 12 inches deep. There are a total of 9 very fancy large cast iron hooks which are ... moreall original to the hall tree. I even believe that the mirror is possibly original as well, with only some minor discoloration to the silvering. It has the original removeable bottom tray to rest your canes and umbrellas. The tray is signed ~ JOHN MOORE N.Y.~ on the bottom as well as signed on the back of the hall tree ~ JOHN MOORE N.Y.~ The over all condition is very nice with the exception of one broken hook on the bottom tier of cane rests- see picture# 11. It is actually not all that easy to tell because it is an inside hook. There is also one hook on the center column near the figural Lion's Head which has some damage. All of the large eight cast iron hooks on the top two sections are in perfect condition with no damage! The entire body and base is in perfect condition as well, with no cracks, chips or repairs. The patina to the cast iron is all original and we left it in 100% all original, as found, untouched condition. This would make a wonderful addition to any grand foyer entrance or a wonderful piece to display some of your prixed walking sticks or Victorian umbrellas and hats. It has the plate that goes in bottom and that is pretty rare to find. According to the research I got on these. It says in book that these were made from 1883-1886 with this particular design, then they made a design almost identical around late 1800's that had a rabbit, then early 1900's they changed it to a duck instead of a rabbit, all 3 designs had the same large dog background. It has two canes held together by what looks to be a collar and a head of a whippet on one and a horse on the other. It has the number 12 on the dog tag. It is about 25" tall, 13 1/2" w and 8" deep. Antique Umbrella Stand / Cane Stand Mid 19TH Century Embossed 4 Sided Scenes
Here up for bid is a very nice well made antique mid 19th century brass umbrella/ cane stand that is 25" tall and is 10 1/4" square. It is 4 sided with different embossed scenes on each side. It has 4 lion paw feet and has a metal liner. Towards the bottom there is embossed onion shaped design. This stand had been professionally refinished and oxidized and lacquered. There is a seam all the way down one of the edges where it was join together when originally made. And shows the solder. See photos. The metal liner shows some kind of epoxy where it was repaired probably from a crack on the corners. It really is in very good condition for its age. The scenes look to be some kind of conquistadors. ANTIQUE VINTAGE CANE UMBRELLA PLANT STAND OCTAGONAL MAHOGANY VICTORIAN BEDPOST
24" tall. 11" diameter cane or umbrella stand. Octagonal column is constructed of solid mahogany boards, molding around the bottom is also mahogany, four feet are veneered. I think that this stand was made from the bottom section of a mid-Victorian bed post from a tester bed. If you are familiar with beds made by cabinetmakers like Mallard or Lee, the octagonal form was very popular. For whatever reason(fashion, low ceilings) a bed was taken apart and the lowest section of a bedpost was repurposed as a hall stand with the addition of four scroll feet- that look like they came from a Victorian footstool and two handles on the side that look like sections of molding. The reconfiguration was not done recently- the nails holding the feet in show some surface rust and the screws attaching the bottom panel are not new either. The reimagining ... moreof the bedpost was probably done in the mid 20th century or before. It makes an interesting history and I think it makes a very handsome and impressive looking stand for your canes or umbrellas. It would make a great stand for a fern or other houseplant too. The finish on the wood is old. The mahogany has a lovely dark red color. There is finish wear and some scratches and marks, the veneer is quite worn on the feet. There is a split on one of the eight panels that would be an easy fix with wood glue and some strap clamps. RARE ART DECO CAST IRON CANE STAND CAST UMBRELLA STAND SEMI-NUDE FIGURE 42"
I am pleased to offer this VINTAGE ART DECO CAST IRON CANE STAND OR UMBRELLA STAND I found digging around a barn that had fallen down over 40 years ago. I am selling it in"as found" condition which is still pretty spectacular. It is 42" tall and features a SEMI-NUDE figure with her arms outstretched holding an arc which is obviously the handle. She appears to be standing on a globe and her top is bare with a draped garmet flowing from her waist. This part is 9 1/2" tall. There are three prevelant interconnecting 4 3/4" cast circles in which the canes or umbrellas were place and smaller spaces too. This section is 12" across. The base is also cast with 10 pointed spears in cast which secures the stand quite well and it is 10 1/2" in diameter. There is a screw under the world and under the rings which could ... moreadjust it and the base could be screwed off too. I'm am leaving it all the way that I found it. It has overall rust. But there are no breaks which is amazing. It needs a good wire brushing and oiling to bring it back to life. Antique "The Sikes Company" Cane/Umbrella Holder
This is a mission style oak cane/umbrella holder or stand. The Sikes Company was established in 1859-1956. It moved to Philadephia. PA in 1904-1906 from Buffalo, NY. My research shows that they moved back to New York in 1916. Stand has some spots of paint on it. There are a few dings here and there, but overall its in good condition. I believe it is the original finish but I am not sure. Has removeable tray at the bottom and what looks to be copper lined. Metal may be brass around the feet. Cane / Umbrella Holder in Leather with Beautiful Escutcheon - 16 1/2" Tall
Very unusual. Beautifully crafted, cane/ umbrella holder completely made in full-grain(heavy) leather, dating likely from the late 1800s to early 1900s. What makes this piece so special, besides its classy appearance, is that the piece is completely made of leather, including the inside and the bottom of the piece(see last two pictures) The top and bottom rims are double- and stitched layers to secure the oval shape. There are some minor scratches inside and out. And a couple of areas that show some color differentiation but generally it's in beautiful condition for its age. It has the patina of antique. There are two handles attached on the side and a great escutcheon on the front as well as large brass-colored studs around the top. All of these show some wear and appear to be brass in color but not material. The holder measures 16 1/2" ... moretall by 10" across by 8 1/2" deep(oval) I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. I found this at an antique market in Strasbourg. Alsace, France. It was a beer tap and we still have the faucet attached on one side. The faucet is brass and the handle is black metal. We left this in its original condition. This tap functions wonderfully as an umbrella stand even though it does not have a bottom. The base color is a creamy white with green line accents. The center part is beautifully decorated with a hunt setting showing a bugling stag and deer in a forest setting under an oak tree. The top rim is decorated for bird hunters. It shows various species of birds in flight. It is hallmarked with a green Villeroy& ... moreBoch Mattlach hallmark. It also says made in Saar-Basin. This hallmark dates it to c.1874-1890. 19 1/2" tall. It is 9 1/2" in diameter at the top. ~8" in the middle diameter. 8 1/2" at the bottom. The spout extends 5" from the edge, and the handle is 4 1/2" long. This is in good used condition. One small chip on the base and some slight surface dirt. Otherwise. Good used condition.
