Hefty Diamond Willow walking/hiking, trekking, scout staff, cane, carving stick
This is a very nice looking dead harvested Diamond Willow piece perfect for a hefty walking stick or cane. It's 47" tall. 2" at the top, and 1 3/4" at the tip. As you can see from the pics it has a good number of diamonds and some very pretty intertwined doubles. And we love the beautiful starburst end grain pattern revealed on carved back branch stubs as seen in pic 9&10. Also notice the shine in the drawknife marks, it hasn't been sanded or polished at all, that shows how hard this stuff is. Since it was harvested dead it has lots of varying coloration and streaking and as is also common with dead DW some"character adding" bug burrows. It has a very small amount of longitudinal hairline cracking(see pic 11) that we've already"treated" with super glue/accelerator which does a really good ... morejob of halting the expansion of those cracks. Whatever you decide to make of this stick I'm sure it will turn out really beautiful. Make sure you take before and after pics because it's amazing how tremendous the change in appearance is on these diamond willow sticks after they're carved. Sanded and a finish applied to"pop" the grain. MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 0 2 DocumentNotSpecified 7.8 Normal 0 Some may wonder why we don't list raw/unpeeled diamond willow sticks. A few reasons. 1. We've found that you can't always tell how sound the wood is beneath the bark. We've had many we thought were great then found they had"pucky" or soft/rotten wood once we started peeling. This is true even on live harvested DW since it just takes one little break in the bark to allow water to get in and start the dying/rotting process. Most of the time this doesn't go very deep so if the stick is large enough in diameter we use our drawknife to clear away all the bad wood until only rock solid core remains. 2. Though not complicated. Peeling standing dead harvested DW can be very labor intensive. And I wouldn't even attempt it without a good q

ANTIQUE WALKING STICK silver bone horn? 19th century? This belonged to my great great grandfather Charles Davies. The silver section at the top of the stick has his name engraved on it along with a pictures of an angler and the enitials WHC and a hallmark. I would date it very roughly at 150 years old. But this is a guess based on when he lived. I really do not know much about walking sticks but the it is in used condition as seen in the pictures, the handle looks like bone, horn or OTHER! not sure which) and it looks like the original ferrel(if thats the right word for the bit on the end! Condition can be seen clearly in the pictures.

Where to begin? This walking stick? has been on my mind for months. I can find nothing like it. 40 Inches Long and just shy of 13 inches around at the widest part. It is unique! Ornate carvings of what appear to be samurai(2) and the typical carved mushroom flower ribs at the top adorn this piece of bamboo? It would be the largest piece I have ever come across. The carving is amazing to me! The facial expressions and the armor is awesome. The burn patterns add to the piece. There are cracks in the piece. Please see the pictures. I have tried to give you the best idea of what I have to offer here. I can take a send more pictures if there is something I need to look for. I see no signature or markings of an artist. Gossweinstein Gossweinstein was the home of the bishops of Bamberg for at least a hundred years of its existance. It was involved in and destroyed in both the Peasants Revolt and the Margrave War. A margrave was a governor of a"march" border province) It was rebuilt in 1767. In 1890 it was acquired by the Freiherren(baron) von Sohlhern and remains today in that family. c1870 VICTORIAN CAST IRON HALL TREE HAT RACK WALKING STICK CANE UMBRELLA STAND
Just acquired out of a wonderful. Southern Ohio estate, we are able to offer this exceptionally nice, and quite early, circa 1860's- 1880's era ~ VICTORIAN CAST IRON HALL TREE, UMBRELLA& CANE STAND, SIGNED JOHN MOORE NEW YORK ~ Please be sure to check out all of the 12 pictures we took of it. This is by far the nicest and most unusual example of an original 1870's era, Victorian Cast Iron Hall Tree stand we have ever had the opportunity to offer for auction. It measures 87 inches tall to the top of the fancy pomegranate fruit basket figural finial. The lower"hat rack" arm" by the mirror" with 4 hooks, measures 41 inches across and the top arm with 4 hooks measures 26 inches across. The base measures 28 inches wide by about 12 inches deep. There are a total of 9 very fancy large cast iron hooks which are ... moreall original to the hall tree. I even believe that the mirror is possibly original as well, with only some minor discoloration to the silvering. It has the original removeable bottom tray to rest your canes and umbrellas. The tray is signed ~ JOHN MOORE N.Y.~ on the bottom as well as signed on the back of the hall tree ~ JOHN MOORE N.Y.~ The over all condition is very nice with the exception of one broken hook on the bottom tier of cane rests- see picture# 11. It is actually not all that easy to tell because it is an inside hook. There is also one hook on the center column near the figural Lion's Head which has some damage. All of the large eight cast iron hooks on the top two sections are in perfect condition with no damage! The entire body and base is in perfect condition as well, with no cracks, chips or repairs. The patina to the cast iron is all original and we left it in 100% all original, as found, untouched condition. This would make a wonderful addition to any grand foyer entrance or a wonderful piece to display some of your prixed walking sticks or Victorian umbrellas and hats. Made from typical two toned hardwood carved with a spiral twist to the shaft and a T shaped handle. These were used as prestige items and denotes high status/rank within the Zulu people. SUPERB VICTORIAN CARVED BONE DOG/ HARE WALKING STICK THE FINEST Antique 19th Century carved ox bone walking stick carved with a wonderful study of a Greyhound and a Hare the Greyhound with open mouth showing of his teeth. He is beautifully carved with glass eyes, to the rear is a hare/rabbit also with glass eyes, the walking stick/cane has a silver collar(no hallmark) and a bamboo stick. Measures 32.5 inches long. Handle/seat frame, the stick is made of wood, the paint/ varnish on the wood is worn, the seat is strong leather but some of the stitching is becoming unstitched on one side, needs a few stitches putting in place.please see photos) the press stud on the leather strap that holds the seat has rusted& doesn't hold shut. The the aluminium seat handle has leather trim. This walking seat/ stick is in used. Good condition but needs a good clean. Please take a look at my other items. Thank you.
