HIGH QUALITY, SOLID SILVER PILL OR TRINKET BOX BY THE FAMOUS ASPREY OF LONDON FROM THE EDWARDIAN ERA– HALLMARKED FOR BIRMINGHAM 1911 This has to be one of the most beautiful. High quality solid silver boxes, from the world famous Asprey& Co of London, that you could find! Just look at the photos of this unusual piece- and they do not do it justice. The top is engraved with crosses of triple lines. Surrounded by a raised border of a lovely, scrolling chased pattern all around the edges. This pattern is repeated on the base of the box. The interior is gilt-lined. HISTORY: This gorgeous piece of silver was crafted at the very end of the Edwardian era in 1911 by the world famous Royal Jewellers. Asprey& Co. Asprey ... morehave a long association with British royalty. Dating back to the 1800s when Queen Victoria granted their first Royal Warrant. Since then. They have held a Royal Warrant for every British monarch and several other foreign heads of state. HALLMARKS: As you would expect from this high quality Asprey solid silver box. There are several marks. The main hallmarks are on the inside lip at the front of the box: the letters“A& Co Ltd” for Asprey& Co; the Anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office; the lion passant for solid English silver; the letter“m” for the year 1911. The external upper lip of the lid has the lion passant(rubbed) and the letter“m” to show that it is the original. Matching lid. The internal right hand side lip of the box has the stamp of“ASPREY LONDON” There is also a separate label with a ribbon and red seal in the shape of a stag’s head and the handwritten words“Birmingham 1911 Hallmarked Silver” This label was already in the box when we acquired it. This is a gorgeous vintage Silver pill box. It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1987. Marked REP. It is oval in shape. With a beautiful scrolled design all around the sides, and the edges of the top. It has a good strong hinge, and closes well. It is in excellent condition. And measures 1 and 3/4 inches across, and 5/8ths of an inch deep. Now a little information about postage. Most jewellery items come in new black cardboard or plastic jewellery boxes. With white wadding, and bubble wrap, for extra safety. These are then sent in jiffy bags, so all items should be very secure. The only exceptions to this are more delicate items, glass, china etc. that need added protection. These are sent in solid jewellery boxes, sometimes used, but always in very good condition. Oval box, which has been very well made. The top fits the base. Perfectly, and slides on and off, very smoothly. Decorated top and bottom with a continuous band of leaves between two rows of beading. Inside the base are a full set of hallmarks. And the maker`s mark. Note that the lion and the"b" date letter are upside down as you look at the marks in pic.3. There is just the"JT" Maker`s mark in the lid. The only fault is a tiny pinprick- see pic.5, on the centre line. Towards the right. In very near original condition. With no apparent wear. Measures: 25 x 16 millimetres/ 1.0 inches. Closed depth: 8.0 millimetres/ 0.625 inches.

It has the benefit of a vacant cartouche top centre Hallmarked in Birmingham during 190 6. The pot measures 3.5cm diameter and it is 2.2cm high approximately. It weighs 0.44 ounces(12.4g) It has the usual light/ faint scuffs and scratches that all silver objects tend to attract plus several little age related minor dents. Dings and impact marks around the bodywork. The lid fits tightly as it should. It would probably benefit from a good polish inside and out to restore former glory. A useful little vintage silver box. Rectangular in shape with straight sides. The lid of the box and the underside extend out on all sides beyond the sides of the box. The lid of the box has engine turned decoration. The box has a pull-off lid. The box is 1-3/4 inches/ 45 mm wide and 1-3/8 inches/ 35 mm deep. It stands 1/2 inch high and weighs 26 grams. The underside has clear hallmarks- lion passant. Anchor for Birmingham, letter F for 1930 and maker's mark WNLtd for William Neale. The box is in good condition with minor bruise to the lid. The interior is gold gilded and is in fine condition with only one tiny wear mark and a slight scratch on the inside of the lid. The lid is hinged at the back and closes tightly onto the base and is very secure. It is in very good condition with only a tiny mark on the side and has only minor surface scratches. Edwardian Sterling Silver Gilt Relief Decorated Hinged Top Trinket or Pill Box dated 1908 This Antique Trinket or Pill Box measures approximately 2 1/4 inches or 57 mm across the length of its body from end to end by 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm across the width of its body from side to side and it stands 1 inch or 26 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from sterling silver in an oval shape that has been internally gilded or gold plated and it has a concealed three section piano hinge on the back of its lid that also has a shaped thumb or finger catch on the front edge for ease of opening. The box has a step decorated upper body over curvaceous sides and it stands on a slightly raised oval base, the top of its lid has a delightful embossed or raised relief decorated outer border around an oval shape cartouche that has Not ... morebeen engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and the inner lid along with the inside of its lower body has been impressed with a full set of English solid sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, ro& J Z- Anchor- Lion Passant- i A& J Z is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of Arthur& John Zimmerman Ltd whose mark is recorded as being used from 1905 to 1908. The Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard solid sterling silver and the letter i is the assay office date letter for 1908. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The box has No Splits. No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens and closes as it should with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear, the sterling silver hallmarks are still legible although as this is a used antique trinket or pill box it does have several dents around its body and lid and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a

This a first class little pill box dating from 1918. Assayed in Birmingham and made by Al Ltd. Measuring 1 and three quarters if an inch x 1" No damage at all and perfect when opening and closing. Mappin& Webb 1926 George V Sterling Silver Pill Box Birmingham Hallmark A sterling silver round pill box with a beautifully patterned hinged lid. The body of the box is plain apart from a small clasp to open the box with a detailed pattern of delicate concentric waves on the lid of the piece. The box is fully hallmarked on the base and on the outside of the lid(just above the latch to open it) Birmingham. 1926’ and has the makers mark of‘MN& WB’ for Mappin& Webb. I have tried to show this in the photographs. With mixed results. The box measures 1 ½ inches(4cm) by 1 ½ inches(4cm) with a depth of 3/4 inch(2cm) The box weighs 20.6g The box is in good condition for its age with just a couple of small dings to the bottom of the box and light scratches throughout. The decorated top is not worn and has not lost any of the detail ... morethrough polishing. I have cleaned the item but resisted the urge to polish it too heavily which I think would remove some its character and charm. I am happy to answer any questions about this piece.
