Antique Sterling Silver Crested Shovel Shape Hanau Tea Caddy Spoon circa 1910
Antique Hand Cast Solid Silver Crested Shovel Shape Tea Caddy Spoon with Swedish Import Mark c. 1910 This Delightful Antique Tea Caddy Spoon measures approximately 3 3/ 8 inches or 8 6 mm in length from the top of the handle to the rim of the bowl by just over 7/8 of an inch or 23 mm across the widest part of the upper handle from side to side and it is 1 5/ 8 inches or 42 mm across the width of the bowl. The spoon is made from cast solid silver with a pierced raised relief decorated lower handle that has a figure holding a pierced. Relief and engrave decorated crest at the top and the caddy spoon has a novelty shovel shape bowl that has a raised relief figural scene of a w o men and children. The tea caddy spoon has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and I estimate that this spoon ... morewas originally made in the Hanau region of Germany circa 1900- 1920 however it has been impressed with a Swedish three crown 830 standard solid silver import mark on the front edge of its bowl. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Caddy Spoon has No Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the caddy spoon is straight, the decoration and definition is fairly crisp, the Swedish silver mark is still clearly legible although as the caddy spoon is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique tea caddy spoon can still be used today for loose leaf tea and that it would make a superb addition to any collection, I also think that it looks fantastic considering that it's around 100 or so years old. STUNNING VERY RARE This is an absolutely fabulous and substantial ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver tea caddy which was made in London. England in 1904, by the famous Victorian silversmith, Sebastian Henry Garrard of R. S. Garrard& Company at their Haymarket workshops. It has a gorgeous tapered cylindrical shape with gorgeous and deep embossed floral and foliate decoration to the sides. It is NOT engraved. This wonderful piece measures almost 3" in diameter and stands 4" high. It is of very thick gauge silver. Very high quality and is VERY substantial- it weighs 182.0 grams- well over 5 3/4 troy oz. An extremely rare and beautiful Norwegian 925S silver and enamel tea caddy/ box. It is hallmarked with the maker’s initials and mark of Marius Hammer and the 925S standard mark. For those unaware Marius Hammer was a very highly regarded silversmith registered as working in Bergen from 1847 until 1927. I would date this piece to c1900-1910. It has been superbly designed being beautifully shaped with the whole piece being exquisitely guilloche enamelled in opalescent blue. The silver has been vibrantly gilded(gold on silver) It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. The gilding is thick and vibrant showing no wear. Interesting octagonal form with concave and convex panels. Elegant chased motifs on all panels and cap. Identifying marks on base as shown in photo. NO MONOGRAMS. Likely dates to early 20th century. If exact age matters to you. Please do your own research. Stands about 4 1/2" tall and about 3 1/4" wide. Weighs approximately 169 grams or 5.4 troy ounces. CONDITION: Great given its age and material. One dent on top edge of the cap. There is one spot on the base that is slightly elevated. The body is in really great shape. On one rib. A beautiful sterling silver tea caddy. It is hallmarked for Chester 1911 with the makers marks being those of Nathan and Hayes. It has a beautiful Georgian design being engraved with swags and most interestingly musical instruments. The circular cartouche to its front is engraved with a single letter‘M’ It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs- there is of course be the odd minute but nothing of note. An attractive antique sterling silver tea caddy made by William Hutton& Sons and hallmarked in London 1900. It is in very good condition with only light surface marks. The pull off lid fits tightly and is decorated with flowers and scrolls and the same pattern is repeated on the upper part of the body. The lower body has a wrythen pattern. A crimped flared base and a vacant cartouche. Full hallmarks to the lid are clearly struck. Those on the body partially worn. Great little tea caddy. Dated 1901 from what I could make of the worn English Hallmarks. Has a few little fle bits and a light scuff on the top that needs buffing out with a polisher. This is a very rare high quality antique handmade 19th century sterling silver and brass trinket snuff box. it can also be used as a tea caddy or whatever desired. The box is beautifully crafted out of extremely thick metals and is very heavy. it is made from solid brass with exquisite hand cut and inlaid pieces of sterling silver. the pattern is very intricate and intense on every angle of the box and is very well made. the inside part the box has three compartments and four hinged lids that are also inlaid with sterling. the compartments are covered by the large hinged lid and it has two thick brass handles which pivot back and forth on the mounts. Chester High Relief Victorian Tea Caddy Box Antique English Sterling Silver
This lovely antique sterling silver tea caddy was made by Nathan& Hayes and hallmarked in Chester 1899. It is in very good condition with no repairs but for total accuracy a few very minor dings. Oval in shape it has a pull off lid that fits tightly. The body has relief decoration all around of a mythical scene of figures etc with trees. Hills, clouds and a temple in the background. Identical hallmarks to the lid, body and base. A fine Victorian caddy made with a good gauge of silver as one would expect from these well known silversmiths.
