Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Trinket Pill or Snuff Box by M Mayer circa 1895
Superb Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Ladies Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box by Martin Mayer circa 1895 This Antique Trinket, Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm across the length of its body from side to side by 1 1/2 inches or 39 mm across the width of its body from the hinge to the front catch and it stands 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver that has been internally gilded or gold plated in an oval shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid that has a shaped thumb or finger catch on the front edge for ease of opening. The outer body and lid have been superbly embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with foliate swags. Flowers and bows, the front of the body along with the top of the lid each has an oval shaped cartouche ... morethat has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the side rim of the lid has been impressed with a couple of later French solid silver imported item marks all as photographed below. The underside of the base or body has been impressed with the makers pattern number 74 that is below the German half moon and crown 800 standard solid silver mark, this is along side the Mainz silversmith or maker mark of Martin Mayer who are recorded as being founded in 1888, I estimate that this antique trinket, pill or snuff box was made circa 1890- 1900. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration is fairly crisp, the hinge is working perfectly. The lid opens and closes tightly with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear. The German silver and makers marks are still legible although as the box is a used antique it does have the odd very small shallow dent in the underside or base of its body that is hardly worth mentioning and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use. Stunning Antique Solid Sterling Silver Trinket Pill Snuff Box, Dutch Soldiers
This is a very rare and stunning snuff box. It's a great piece to add to any collection. For its age it is in very good condition. Was very dirty before I cleaned it. It's sterling silver. It does not have any marking but I have taken it to my jeweler and he tested as 90% silver. I have also taken it to my antique guy and his eyes lit up when he saw it. I was told by him that it's definitely from the late 1800's and made in Dutch and its not marked because it was so old. Measures almost 2" in diameter and about 3/4" high. High quality solid silver boxes, from the world famous Asprey& Co of London, that you could find! Just look at the photos of this unusual piece- and they do not do it justice. The top is engraved with crosses of triple lines. Surrounded by a raised border of a lovely, scrolling chased pattern all around the edges. This pattern is repeated on the base of the box. The interior is gilt-lined. HISTORY: This gorgeous piece of silver was crafted at the very end of the Edwardian era in 1911 by the world famous Royal Jewellers. Asprey& Co. Asprey ... morehave a long association with British royalty. Dating back to the 1800s when Queen Victoria granted their first Royal Warrant. Since then. They have held a Royal Warrant for every British monarch and several other foreign heads of state. HALLMARKS: As you would expect from this high quality Asprey solid silver box. There are several marks. The main hallmarks are on the inside lip at the front of the box: the letters“A& Co Ltd” for Asprey& Co; the Anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office; the lion passant for solid English silver; the letter“m” for the year 1911. The external upper lip of the lid has the lion passant(rubbed) and the letter“m” to show that it is the original. Matching lid. Antique Victorian Dutch Solid Silver Gilt Snuff Pill Box Full Hallmarks for 1877
For your consideration A Very Pretty Antique Victorian Dutch Solid Silver-Gilt Engraved Ladies' Snuff Box/ Pill Box with Seed Pearls and Ruby/Garnet Coloured Cabochons- Fully Hallmarked and dated to 1877 Silver is not my strong point. But I am trying my best to describe this item. This lovely hinge-lidded gilt silver box was made in Holland. It is a engraved and has filigree work and what appear to be seed pearl and ruby/garnet-coloured cabochons applied to its lid. It bears at least 4. Possibly 5 hallmarks: the Lion Passant, Minerva(but I cannot make out the location letter on her helmet, as it was engraved after the mark had been impressed) the date letter"S" for 1877 and then two marks(one inside the lid and one in the bottom) that are most likely the maker's marks, but they are too rubbed for me to decipher them. The ... moreinside of the lid also bears the following scratch marks: 028 26588 dato. The box weighs in at 32 grams. It measures ca. 2.25" 5.8 cm) in diameter and just over 0.75" 2 cm) high(without the filigree topping. The box is in very good condition with minor scratches and the odd very tiny ding. But the gilding has rubbed off the bottom(see photos) I did not dare polish the box, as I am not sure how to go about it and how it would effect the gilding- it could do with a polish though. The item has been hand crafted and engraved. Possibly in the middle east during the late 19th century and bears no hallmarks, it does, however test as solid silver. The item is in a good general condition with no splits or holes. The lid is a simple hinge pin and closes fine. The box is in fair condition there are a couple of dings and dents commensurate with its age and use. It is decorated with an engraved floral pattern on the lid with a vacant cartouche. With exquisite all over engine turned decoration and a delicate turquoise guilloche enamel covering the lid with black enamel rim, and turquoise enamel to the sides, dating to circa 1910. The interior of the lid contains a mirror. The interior base is hallmarked with a French silver mark- the Boar's Head used between 1838 to present. And a makers mark of LS either side of a star symbol into a diamond, for Lucien Schilt. The box opens easily and closes firmly. Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Relief Cherub Decorated Hanau Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box circa 1895 This Antique Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 2 inches or 52 mm across the length of its lid from side to side by 1 5/8 inches or 4 2 mm across the width of its lid from the hinge to the front and it stands 3/4 of an inch or 19 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from 800 standard solid silver in an oval shape that has been internally gilded or gold plated and it has a three section piano hinged lid that's overhanging the body slightly acting as a thumb or finger catch for ease of opening. The outer body has raised relief scrolled foliate band decorated sides and the lid has a delightful scene two cherubs of which one is holding a large dog in the foreground with a swagged curtain and rail in the ... morebackground and this is under a scrolled foliate and swagged floral decoration. The box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the underside of the body has been impressed with a German 800 standard solid silver mark that is along side what looks like the Hanau silversmith or makers marks of B. Neresheimer& Söhne whose mark is recorded as being used from 1893 and it has the German half moon and crown solid silver guarantee mark all as photographed below. I estimate that this Hanau trinket, pill or snuff box was made circa 1895. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The box has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration is still visible, the hinge is working, the lid opens and closes with ease, the German silver marks are still legible although as this trinket, pill or snuff box is a used antique it does have some wear or play in the hinge and the makers mark is only partially legible, it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. ANTIQUE SOLID SILVER 18th. CENTURY- GEORGIAN PILL BOX- Fully hallmarked for BIRMINGHAM 1799, and with the maker`s mark- JT. For JOSEPH TAYLOR- This is a superb. Oval box, which has been very well made. The top fits the base. Perfectly, and slides on and off, very smoothly. Decorated top and bottom with a continuous band of leaves between two rows of beading. Inside the base are a full set of hallmarks. And the maker`s mark. Note that the lion and the"b" date letter are upside down as you look at the marks in pic.3. There is just the"JT" Maker`s mark in the lid. The only fault is a tiny pinprick- see pic.5, on the centre line. Towards the right. In very near original condition. With no apparent wear. Measures: 25 x 16 millimetres/ 1.0 inches. Closed depth: 8.0 millimetres/ 0.625 inches.

It measures 1.6" by 1.5" and a depth of 0.9" Decorated with a lovely art nouveau design of scrolls and flowers etc. The interior has been gilded with gold. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1903(lid hallmarked also for 1903) and with a makers mark of JT&S for John Thompson and sons. Weighs 13.8g It has four small holes which i have highlighted in red circles. Antique Dutch Solid Silver Hinged Top Relief Decorated Pill or Snuff Box from Amsterdam circa 1820 This Antique Dutch Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm across its length of its lid from side to side by just under 1 1/4 inches or 31 mm across the depth of its lid from the hinge to the front and it stands 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm tall to the top of its lid. The box is made from solid silver in a delightful serpentine like shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid. The sides of the outer body and the top of its lid have shaped panels that each has a different embossed or raised relief and engraved decoration and the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram, the underside of the body has been impressed with a Dutch.833 standard solid silver triple X over the ... moreletter B that I believe is an early Amsterdam assay office mark and this is alongside what was once a Dutch silversmith or makers mark, the upper rim of the body has also been impressed with a Dutch stylized dolphin tax mark that was used from 1814 all as photographed below and I estimate that this box was made circa 1820. The condition is used and fairly good for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box stands straight, the decoration is fairly crisp, the hinge is working perfectly, the lid opens with ease and closes tightly, the Dutch silver marks are rubbed or worn due to their location although as the pill or snuff box is a used antique it does have one tiny polishing wear hole within the raised decoration on the top of its lid and it has several small shallow dents around its body and lid along with along with some minor surface marks and wear from years of use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this antique Dutch pill or snuff box would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection and that it could still be used today, I also

I was told that it was brought back from ECUADOR in the mid-20th Century by a Missionary. It is. Unquestionably, Andean and is tested, high grade SOLID Silver. It takes the form of a casket. 2.9 cms X 2.3 cms X 2.25 cms tall and weighing 19.5 grams. 0.688 ounces. It has embossed depictions of an Andean type peasant with a Llama and what appears to be. Antique Indian Solid Silver Reliaf Decorated Trinket Pill or Snuff Box circ 1910
Antique Indian Solid Silver Raised Relief Decorated Circular Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box circa 1890 This Antique Box measures approximately 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm across the width or diameter of its lid from side to side and it stands just over 1 1/4 inches or 33 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver in a circular with a push fitting lid that overhangs the body slightly for ease of opening. The sides of the body along with the top of the lid have been hand embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with stylized Indian scrolls, flowers and foliage and the box stands on a flat base the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and although I have been unable to find any silver marks as is very typical with antique Indian silver items the ... morebox has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver. I estimate that it was made circa 1900- 1920. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens and closes fairly tightly with ease although as this is a used antique trinket. Pill or snuff box it does have one tiny shallow dent in the side rim of its lid along with the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique Indian trinket, pill or snuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it has a delightful look about it considering that it's around 100 or so years old.
