A delightful little jewellery box made from English sterling silver in a beautiful shape standing on three legs. The lid is slightly domed and decorated with a series of engine turned vertical lines creating a most appealing striped design. With a central circular vacant cartouche. All of this is framed by an attractive beaded edge. The lid fits well and once opens revealing a lavishly gilded interior. It is in excellent condition and closes well and has a fine engraved design on the exterior and a very light gold washed interior. This is a fine quality box with no dents a few very small dings and a very light name engraved on the front. This is a nice usable piece of silver and great for trinkets or gifts or chocolate. This is made of 812 fine silver. American sterling silver is 925 so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions. A wonderful English sterling silver Jewellery box with an attractive engine turned lid surrounding a central circular vacant cartouche. The box stands on three handsome Fleur-de-Lys style legs. The hinged lid lifts to reveal a gilded finish and the box lined in a rich purple silk and velvet. The underside of the box reveals the full English hallmark for Birmingham 1918 together with the makers initials CS*FS for the well renowned silversmith. It looks to be a Specific Jewelry Box to hold a Necklace. It has a Blue Velvet Lining. With two interior hooks to hold the jewelry. There is one outside hook that latches the box close.it works very well. The hinges are also in excellent condition. The box measures 6 1/8" wide by 4 3/4" by 3/4" It does have a few slight dings from age and marks from polishing or just use. There is still some polish residue left inside the box. STERLING SILVER JEWELRY TRINKET BOX Casket Shape Hallmarked Birmingham 1907
I am selling a beautiful and rare English sterling silver casket shaped jewelry or trinket fully hallmarked on the front of the body. Made in 1907 by Britton. Gould& Co of Birmingham, England, this little box has 4 dainty feet, a rounded top which was originally covered with purple velvet, now worn but still intact. The inside is lined in beige silk framed in beige cord and purple velvet. The bottom was originally cover with cloth which is now worn away. This could easily be replaced. The box is in good condition with no breaks or dents. There is minor surface wear to the silver in addition to the fabric wear mentioned above. A fine and rare little jewelry box 106 years old. The top of the lid is framed with a ribbon and reed border surrounding the wonderful rural themed repousse subject featuring a Mother and Child feeding Lambs under a tree. The box opens to reveal a purple velvet lining and the interior of the lid is lavishly gilded. The box is sterling, the inside looks like a cedar liner( which if desired) can be removed. This is a lovely sterling silver jewellery or ring box made by Charles Edward Turner and hallmarked in Birmingham 1910. The interior is gilded and it stands firmly on four cabriole legs. The lid fits perfectly and is covered with green enamel with an intricate silver inlay. There is a small area of the enamel that is missing but the remainder of the box is in very good condition.
