A lovely quality late Victorian silver double stamp box. The glazed top protecting the two original stamps beneath. The shaped box stands on it's original four spherical feet. One side is where the full hallmark can be found for London 1901. The makers initials are somewhat rubbed. The lid is sprung and when held open reveals a gilded interior and a leather finish to the interior of the lid. Excellent condition, measuring 2 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 1" tall. Antique English Sterling Silver Postage Stamp Locket / Chatelaine - 1913
Celebrating it's 100th year this year and entering the realm of a true Antique. This very unusual stamp case or box is in the from of a locket, to be worn on a chain. It could also have originally been worn on a Chatelaine. The case is beautifully engraved with a foliate design on the back and a scroll and foliate design on the front surrounding a vacant cartouche. It take a little bit of knack to open, the terminal at the end needs to be gently pushed to release the catch and then it requires a gentle help along the join, just like a locket. Once opened, the two compartments are revealed for keeping postage stamps, one penny stamps one side, and halfpenny stamps the other. There is a full English hallmark seen on the interior for Birmingham 1913. The makers initials are also present A.E.J for the silversmith, Albert E. Jones. STERLING SILVER STAMP BOX FRANK SMITH CIRCA 1890 AMERICAN Double compartment desk style sterling silver stamp box by Frank Smith Silver Company 1886-1908. The interior of both compartments and the underside of the lid are gold washed. It has a hinged lid and measures 2 7/8 x 1 3/4 x 1/2" amd weighs a hefty 2.2 troy ounces. The lid is hand engraved with a script CLT monogram. Marked on the bottom- Sterling-with the Frank Smith S trademark and the number 28. Top edge of the lid and bottom of the base has a decorative border. Once an important item for glue back stamps these boxes are highly collectible. It is in exceptionaly good pre owned condition with the gold gilt very bright and not machine polished. Some tiny scratches on the lid and underneath from use to be expected for its age but no damage dings or dents.

1903 Antique Edwardian A & J Zimmerman Sterling Silver Postage Stamp Box Novelty
This auction is for a really nice. Edwardian era sterling silver stamp box by A&J Zimmerman(aka Arthur and John Zimmerman) This box is unusual because it has three compartments whereas most boxes of this style only have one or two. There is a window above each compartment and the base has four ball feet. Both the lid and the base are hallmarked. The lid has the lion representing sterling silver and a lower case d representing the year this was made. The base has an anchor signifying that the piece was made in Birmingham followed by the lion and then the lowercase d which represents the year 1903. To the left of the hallmarks is the maker's mark. The A and Z are clear though the& J in the center is largely indiscernible. As you can see, the box shows considerable age appropriate patina. It should polish up well if the new owner ... moredesires. There is a small ding on the edge of the lid, a couple small dings on the bottom and residue from the adhesive used to hold the glass to the lid, but this is otherwise in nice condition. This is for an exceptionally beautiful and rare. High end, quality silver item. It is made by William Hornby and is Edwardian in date. It is hallmarked for London 1902. Retailed at Asprey of London The top is a bottle which screws off and is filled with water. This is then sprinkled over an envelope to dampen and then the stamp is them pushed down to place a stamp perfectly. The weight is 45g and it measures 3.4" in height. This is a super antique sterling silver stamp box/case measuring 2 3/4” 7 cms) wide x 1 1/4” 3 cms) deep x 3/4” 2 cms) high. Inside retains the original gilding and there are three seperated sections to keep your stamps in. The hallmark on the base is rubbed but you can clearly see the lid is hallmarked for London 1889 with the silversmiths mark for William Comyns.
