An Antique 19th century Cast Silver Gilt& Enamel Snuff Box. The top cast with a Medieval Hunting Scene with men and women on horseback and hunting dogs in a rural setting. The sides engraved and enamelled with leaves and scrolls in black. White and green. Very detailed and elaborate enamelling. Internally bright, fire or mercuric gilt. I cannot find any impressed assay or makers marks but it has been tested as positive for high grade silver. Probably continental, possibly Austro Hungarian or Germanic. A Finely Decorated Antique Continental Silver Snuff Box This is a beautifully decorated antique Continental Silver Snuff Box. Unfortunately I am not an expert on European Silver but I have provided detailed close up photographs including the hallmarks to enable buyers to decide. This fine quality Snuff Box appears to have hand chased linear decoration around the sides and on the bottom. The lid is finely decorated with an elaborate scrolled cartouche. Which has been monogrammed with the letter'K' Opening the lid reveals a beautifully gilded interior, which shows little wear to the surface and virtually no loss of colour(please study the detailed close-up photographs provided. Up for bidding is this Solid Continental Silver Floral& Cherub Repousse Tricorn Hat Snuff/ Pill Box It measures 64mm wide by 64mm deep. And is about 25mm high. It has a repousse floral decoration, with cherubs on the lid, and has remnants of gilding inside. This is unmarked, although is probably Dutch, and dates to the late Victorian/ early Edwardian period. This item has also been tested as silver. In good condition. It measures 3 inches long by just less than 2.5 inches wide and is about 1/2" high approximately. It weighs 2.87 imperial ounces(81.5g) which equates to about 2.62 oz Troy. The box has the usual light/ faint scuffs and scratches that all silver objects tend to attract and a few very minor dents around the bodywork commensurate with age and use. Although it is similarly hallmarked inside both covers. Bearing the maker’s mark CM, I have been unable to identify the location of the maker and thereby ascertain the exact age or location of this piece(although it looks to be around 1810) The box measures 2-3/4 inches long, 1-7/8 inches wide and 5/8 of an inch tall. It weighs in at 3.01 Troy ounces. This box has clear and crisp engraving and is free of buffing, thinness, removals, splits or repairs. There is also no bleeding of the silver through the gold wash.
