COLLECTABLE VINTAGE SOLID STERLING SILVER PILL/SNUFF BOX RECTANGULAR SHAPED ENGR
Newly listed is this collectable vintage solid sterling silver pill/snuff box. The shape is rectangular with slightly curved edges in design. The hinged lid is slightly domed in profile. It is hallmarked in the bottom 925– standard of Continental silver. I’ve got it from my mother- at- law which was living in Paris for years as a diplomatic corps wife so I presume the box is coming from France. The dimensions of the box are 45 mm in length x 35 mm in wide x 1 3 mm in depth. The box weighs 17 g. The box is in very good pre– owned condition with no dings or dents. It opens and closes securely with a good snap and it has a nice hinge. Beautiful piece which will give a lot of pleasure as a gift. Happy shopping! Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Trinket Pill or Snuff Box by M Mayer circa 1895
Superb Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Ladies Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box by Martin Mayer circa 1895 This Antique Trinket, Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm across the length of its body from side to side by 1 1/2 inches or 39 mm across the width of its body from the hinge to the front catch and it stands 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver that has been internally gilded or gold plated in an oval shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid that has a shaped thumb or finger catch on the front edge for ease of opening. The outer body and lid have been superbly embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with foliate swags. Flowers and bows, the front of the body along with the top of the lid each has an oval shaped cartouche ... morethat has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the side rim of the lid has been impressed with a couple of later French solid silver imported item marks all as photographed below. The underside of the base or body has been impressed with the makers pattern number 74 that is below the German half moon and crown 800 standard solid silver mark, this is along side the Mainz silversmith or maker mark of Martin Mayer who are recorded as being founded in 1888, I estimate that this antique trinket, pill or snuff box was made circa 1890- 1900. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration is fairly crisp, the hinge is working perfectly. The lid opens and closes tightly with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear. The German silver and makers marks are still legible although as the box is a used antique it does have the odd very small shallow dent in the underside or base of its body that is hardly worth mentioning and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use. The Box is only marked with an RCo. but is almost certainly Continental and has been tested to be at least 800 Grade(80% Pure) Solid Silver with a quality weight of 57 grams. The Box is a great size for use or display measuring 2-1/2" long by 1-3/4" wide and sits 3/4's of an inch tall. Stunning Antique Solid Sterling Silver Trinket Pill Snuff Box, Dutch Soldiers
This is a very rare and stunning snuff box. It's a great piece to add to any collection. For its age it is in very good condition. Was very dirty before I cleaned it. It's sterling silver. It does not have any marking but I have taken it to my jeweler and he tested as 90% silver. I have also taken it to my antique guy and his eyes lit up when he saw it. I was told by him that it's definitely from the late 1800's and made in Dutch and its not marked because it was so old. Measures almost 2" in diameter and about 3/4" high. Today I have on offer this Vintage Italian Solid Silver Long Pill Box Snuff Box which is in excellent condition and has a great detailed Classical Scene Design. It measures 4.4 cm long 2 cm wide and 1.3 cm deep and weighs 13.3 grams and has a hinge lid which opens and closes very well. It has no silver marks but it is solid silver and is marked made in Italy on the base. Please see all the large pictures below for all the details. Solid Silver Oval Shaped Pill/Snuff Box There is no maker's name on this box. There is however a"CM" or"MC" intertwined on the flat oval lid. Which could either be the maker's name or more likely the name of the store that sold it. There are two clearly visible Sterling Silver hallmarks on the lid namely a"Lion" and a letter"K" If it is a London piece it was made in 1905. If however, it was a Birmingham piece it was made in 1909. There are also 4 hallmarks on the main lower part of this box but as they are not clearly visible I'm not going to speculate what they might be. There are some small dents and some tiny pin prick dents on the lid and underside. Antique Victorian Dutch Solid Silver Gilt Snuff Pill Box Full Hallmarks for 1877
For your consideration A Very Pretty Antique Victorian Dutch Solid Silver-Gilt Engraved Ladies' Snuff Box/ Pill Box with Seed Pearls and Ruby/Garnet Coloured Cabochons- Fully Hallmarked and dated to 1877 Silver is not my strong point. But I am trying my best to describe this item. This lovely hinge-lidded gilt silver box was made in Holland. It is a engraved and has filigree work and what appear to be seed pearl and ruby/garnet-coloured cabochons applied to its lid. It bears at least 4. Possibly 5 hallmarks: the Lion Passant, Minerva(but I cannot make out the location letter on her helmet, as it was engraved after the mark had been impressed) the date letter"S" for 1877 and then two marks(one inside the lid and one in the bottom) that are most likely the maker's marks, but they are too rubbed for me to decipher them. The ... moreinside of the lid also bears the following scratch marks: 028 26588 dato. The box weighs in at 32 grams. It measures ca. 2.25" 5.8 cm) in diameter and just over 0.75" 2 cm) high(without the filigree topping. The box is in very good condition with minor scratches and the odd very tiny ding. But the gilding has rubbed off the bottom(see photos) I did not dare polish the box, as I am not sure how to go about it and how it would effect the gilding- it could do with a polish though. It has beautiful rococo decoration throughout, with a gilt interior, and dates to the late 19th century. It is marked on the lid with the German crescent& crown mark, an[800] mark, and has a makers mark attributed to Martin Mayer of Mainz, Germany. There is also a pair of struck marks on the opposite side of the lid, which are possibly french"weevil" import marks. In excellent condition. The box has Matching London Hallmarks for 1912 on the Lid and main body.It is in very good lightly used condition with no dents.The interior gold gilding is still in good original condition. A well made and good quality piece with lovely scallop detail to the lid edges. Antique Solid Silver Snuff/ Pill Box" It is fully English hallmarked on the inside lip for Birmingham 1930 and I cannot decipher a makers mark. The box is in fair condition there are a couple of dings and dents commensurate with its age and use. It is decorated with an engraved floral pattern on the lid with a vacant cartouche. The box measures 47mm x 32mm x 11mm and it is of a good guage of silver weighing a heavy 30.1 grams. A nice silver snuff box to add to your collection. A good quality sterling silver snuff/ pill box. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1985 with the markers mark being B&Co for WI Broadway and Co. It has been beautifully made having a flower engraved hinged lid. It has also been engraved with initials KWS. The inside has been richly gilded. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The lid closes tightly to form a good seal. It measures over 1.75 inches(4.5cms) across by 0.75 inch(2cms) tall and weighs 23 grams. A good quality pretty piece. It has a repousse floral decoration, with cherubs on the lid, and has remnants of gilding inside. This is unmarked, although is probably Dutch, and dates to the late Victorian/ early Edwardian period. This item has also been tested as silver. In good condition.
