Antique Sterling Silver Patch Snuff Compact Box With Cameo - Chester 1905
Up for bid is a lovely sterling silver box made in Chester England in 1905 by Cohen& Charles. At least that is how I read the hallmarks. But please do correct me if I am wrong. The box is oval-shaped and measures about 3 and 1/4 inches by 2 inches and is about 1 inch high, not including the cameo. The interior appears to have a light gold wash. Overall condition is very good, with no real damage noted- just some very minor scratches. This lovely box weighs about 3 ounces on my postal scale. Sorry for all the reflections in the pictures. Georgian Victorian Sterling Silver & Ivory Snuff Box Opium Patch Elephant
Very unusual early sterling silver box with a carved ivory lid. The carving is a detailed Asian elephant's head. Notice the fine detail in the skin especially. This is a hard piece for me to date very precisely. But it has significant age judging by the construction and yellowing of the ivory. Probably early to mid 1800s, maybe earlier. There are no markings, but the metal tests as sterling. This was probably intended for snuff or opium. But possibly something else. Excellent condition. Closes tightly. Measures 1.25" wide. Small oval in shape with a fine decorative rim on the lid and base.it has LOST its hinged grill. Hallmarked inside with a lion for Sterling silver. The makers mark is TW which is probably for the Birmingham Silversmith Thomas Willmore. And the letter b, dates it to 1799. It still retains its gilt interior. But as you can see the hinged grill is missing along with the sponge. It measures approx 34mm x 26mm x 14mm. It weighs 13.3 grams. In nice condition with some age and use wear. Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Snuff Patch Box Portrait Miniature Hallmarked
For your consideration is this beautiful snuff or pill box dating to circa 1890s. It is made of solid sterling silver and is signed on the bottom with a model number of 2423. Sterling" and a maker's mark of an"L" for La Pierre Manufacturing Company of New York who opened their doors in 1888. The box has a stunning, even patina due to age and has a gold washed interior. The lid features a hand painted portrait of a lady under glass. The glass lens is surrounded by a bezel made of rose gold. Condition: Very good. There are a few dings to the case commensurate with age and use. At some time during this box's long life some moisture got under the glass and faded the portrait around the edges. Please examine photos. Measurements: It is just under 1.75 inches in diameter and is just under.75 inches tall.

Early 19th century gilt silver& hand painted enameled snuff box or patch box with a mildly erotic hand painted enamel scene in an oval reserve on the front, depicting a man seated in a chair, helping his lady to sit on his lap, by lifting up the back of the back of her dress, as well as taking a peek! Heavy piece(weighs 1.96 troy ounces) gold gilt interior, nice details in the silver work which has floral garlands and draped columns around the edges bad the base. Hallmark is a diamond shape with flowers in the center, too small to get a good photograph of. Measures 2" x 1 1/2" 7/8" high. Description Up for bid is a sterling silver and purple guilloche enamel snuff or pill box. It measures a little less than 1 and 1/2 inches square and is about 3/8 inches high. The top and the sides are enameled. And the bottom is plain sterling. It opens to a gold-washed interior. The bottom of the compact and the rim of the lid are marked 925. There is also a triangle within a circle(which appears to be a maker's mark) and a date letter of a small i. Since there is a date letter, I assume this was made in the UK for export. Overall condition is excellent. With no damage to the enamel. There is a shallow indent on the bottom of the box, but it in no way detracts. Domestic shipping will be $3.00. Here we have a wonderful little gem of a patch box. The box was made by Thomas Keddar in c1705 and features a relief portrait of Queen Anne- it has a few knocks but nothing serious. RARE VERY SPECIAL 18TH CENTURY SOLID SILVER ORNATE PATCH/ SNUFF BOX Date circa 1750 This is a rare very special 18th Century Solid Silver Ornate Patch/ Snuff Box circa 1750 sp at least 250 years old though could be earlier. The decoration is stunning, it has the most beautiful decoration to the body with flowers and foliage in abundance that is framed both to the top and bottom with a band of dots and lines, the pull off top has a lovely dome shape with the same edging as the body but the centre decoration is breath taking, its a large flower with scrolls and foliage surrounding it, as you can see this once many many years ago had a black enamel background that still has traces left, its a very early and rare silver snuff box, i say circa 1750 but in my opinion the decoration to the top would suggest even earlier maybe as early as the 17th ... moreCentury but as i cant find any marks i will leave it for you to decide. The Box features amazingly detailed Chinese Floral designs to the lid, around the body and superb Chinese Foo Dog designs to the underside. The Box is also finely enamelled in Black Niello with the Brass being Gold Gilt and much nicer than my photos show. The Box is in very fine all original condition with only wear to the inside and nice original owner's monogram to the inside of the lid.
