A super solid silver and enamel Art Deco circular pill pot by the Birmingham firm of Lawrence Emanuel who made a wide range of fine silverware. It has wonderful guilloche enamelling in an unusual shade of purple and the design creates a 3D effect combined with radiating lines. This can be seen best when the case is moved around in the light. All of the enamel is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. The two halves of the pot have a gold gilt finish inside and both are marked for silver with the lion passant and date letter u for 1919. One half is fully hallmarked to include the anchor mark for Birmingham. Also. Has the maker's mark L E( latter is slightly rubbed) No repairs to the silver just few very tiny dings on the base and side. Closes tightly and fits flush. The pot measures 5.0 cms/ 2.0 ins across and 2.2 cms/ 0.8 ins ... moredeep. This lovely pill pot will appeal to collectors as well as make a great gift. It will be very well packed. SUPERB ART NOUVEAU SILVER ENAMEL PILL POT HM 1909 BY S B & S LTD
This is a really superb Art Nouveau pill pot made in Birmingham by silversmiths firm of S Blanckensee& Sons Ltd. The hinged top has guilloche enamel in a beautiful shade of blue with a midnight blue enamel edge. There are silver stars set around the edge and these make it stand out from the usual circular pots. The pot is in excellent condition with no damage or scratches to the enamel. The inside has a gold gilt finish and both the top and bottom have a pattern number of 85 stamped inside. On the bottom it is fully hall-marked for the Birmingham assay office. Lion passant for silver and date letter k for 1909. There is also the makers mark S B& S Ltd- has been struck twice so a little unclear in the middle. The hinge is in fine order and the pot closes well. There are two extremely tiny dings on the edge and the pot curves underneath ... morebut these do not detract from the excellent enamelling of the top. Further photos will be added to show details and also photo of the inside of the pot. Measures 3.3 cms/ 1.3 ins in diameter and 1.3 cms/ 0.5 ins deep. A very attractive pill pot which would make a beautiful gift as well as appeal to collectors. It will be very well packed. Low start price and no reserve.
