The superb item consists of a wonderful and visually impressive Edwardian Pill Box or possibly even a vinegarette(pierced lid) With a plain barrel type body but with the most elaborate designed lid. The lid features an inset tortoiseshell top with an extremely elaborate pierced scroll top with a horn design and inset into the tortoiseshell is an equally elaborate silver hanging scroll design. This pretty pill box measures 4.3 cm in diameter and just over 1 cm in depth. It was made in London. In 1896 by John Marshall Spink. Solid sterling hallmarked silver, Sweetie shaped, square pill box fully hallmarked on one side with a silversmiths mark I cannot quite make out, 925" for sterling silver, the leopards head for the London assay office and a date letter of"e" for the year 2004. The box part itself measures approx. 2.2cm square and is 1.2cm deep and weighs approx. 15.1 grams. You just twist the two ends gently and the box opens. Good tight fastening and a strong hinge. This is a beautiful Solid Silver Pill Box Hallmarked London 1957 by Silversmith"DS" It has both the lion passant and the.925 stamped on the reverse(see photo's) It is in Excellent Condition with No Damage or Restoration. it has a marcasite stone detail on the top and Its total weight is 20 grams and measures 2 1/2 inches long. 1 inch wide and 3/4 inches deep.
