Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Trinket Pill or Snuff Box by M Mayer circa 1895
Superb Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Ladies Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box by Martin Mayer circa 1895 This Antique Trinket, Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 1 7/8 inches or 48 mm across the length of its body from side to side by 1 1/2 inches or 39 mm across the width of its body from the hinge to the front catch and it stands 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver that has been internally gilded or gold plated in an oval shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid that has a shaped thumb or finger catch on the front edge for ease of opening. The outer body and lid have been superbly embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with foliate swags. Flowers and bows, the front of the body along with the top of the lid each has an oval shaped cartouche ... morethat has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the side rim of the lid has been impressed with a couple of later French solid silver imported item marks all as photographed below. The underside of the base or body has been impressed with the makers pattern number 74 that is below the German half moon and crown 800 standard solid silver mark, this is along side the Mainz silversmith or maker mark of Martin Mayer who are recorded as being founded in 1888, I estimate that this antique trinket, pill or snuff box was made circa 1890- 1900. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The Box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration is fairly crisp, the hinge is working perfectly. The lid opens and closes tightly with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear. The German silver and makers marks are still legible although as the box is a used antique it does have the odd very small shallow dent in the underside or base of its body that is hardly worth mentioning and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use. Antique hallmarked solid silver hinged ring / trinket box Birm. 1911
A pretty little 2" diameter x 1.25" high antique. Fully hallmarked, solid silver hinged ring or trinket box with a faux leather underside base as shown in the photo and a red felt interior and having a total weight of approx. 29.9 grams. There are no dents, splits or holes I can find and the hinge is solid and secure and the lid closes flush. There are some rubbed hallmarks on the side of the base which I believe read: A& J Z" for the silversmith A& J Zimmersmith. There is the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, the sterling silver lion passant mark and a date letter of"m" for the year 1911. On the side of the hinged lid are further hallmarks of the lion passant and date letter which match the base. It has a velvet interior and push on lid. It has Chinese silver marked and also marked 90 with makers mark for the well regarded Wang Hing. 3.3" diameter and 2.8" high. Gross weight is 170g and silver weight 79g. The silver is in very good condition. The velvet may have been replaced at some time and it shows signs of wear. Stunning Antique Solid Sterling Silver Trinket Pill Snuff Box, Dutch Soldiers
This is a very rare and stunning snuff box. It's a great piece to add to any collection. For its age it is in very good condition. Was very dirty before I cleaned it. It's sterling silver. It does not have any marking but I have taken it to my jeweler and he tested as 90% silver. I have also taken it to my antique guy and his eyes lit up when he saw it. I was told by him that it's definitely from the late 1800's and made in Dutch and its not marked because it was so old. Measures almost 2" in diameter and about 3/4" high. Description? FINE ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SOLID SILVER BOX St. Petersburg 1885 Impressive Russian antique solid silver box from St. Petersburg made in 1885. With a deeply grooved surface on all sides, a handmade button latch in perfect order, a beautiful gold-gilded interior with hand built rings to hold the cross straps. The box measures 3-7/8 inches long. Just under 2-3/8 inches wide, 7/8 of an inch high, weighs 4.6 ounces, or 131 grams. It is fully hallmarked with the Cyrillic letters of the maker who I think was Ivan Semenovich Gubkin. A beautiful antique solid silver and faux tortoise shell trinket box. It is fully hallmarked on both the lid and the base with the makers being CBS Charles Boyton& Son Ltd. Birmingham assay mark. The English lion passant. Date letter"n" 1912-13. Weight is approx 77 grams. Across the top of the lid measures approx 6cms. Height is approx 43mm. This is a fabulous silver box with a lovely inlaid silver design to the lid. The hinge is nice and strong. It opens and shuts as it should. Inside it has its original powder puff pink velvet lining.The clawed feet on the box are very typical of the period. Overall this lovely trinket box is in excellent condition and comes at a bargain start price.

Antique German Solid Silver Gilt Relief Cherub Decorated Hanau Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box circa 1895 This Antique Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 2 inches or 52 mm across the length of its lid from side to side by 1 5/8 inches or 4 2 mm across the width of its lid from the hinge to the front and it stands 3/4 of an inch or 19 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from 800 standard solid silver in an oval shape that has been internally gilded or gold plated and it has a three section piano hinged lid that's overhanging the body slightly acting as a thumb or finger catch for ease of opening. The outer body has raised relief scrolled foliate band decorated sides and the lid has a delightful scene two cherubs of which one is holding a large dog in the foreground with a swagged curtain and rail in the ... morebackground and this is under a scrolled foliate and swagged floral decoration. The box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the underside of the body has been impressed with a German 800 standard solid silver mark that is along side what looks like the Hanau silversmith or makers marks of B. Neresheimer& Söhne whose mark is recorded as being used from 1893 and it has the German half moon and crown solid silver guarantee mark all as photographed below. I estimate that this Hanau trinket, pill or snuff box was made circa 1895. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The box has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration is still visible, the hinge is working, the lid opens and closes with ease, the German silver marks are still legible although as this trinket, pill or snuff box is a used antique it does have some wear or play in the hinge and the makers mark is only partially legible, it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. This is for a beautiful solid sterling silver hallmarked pill box. It measures 1.6" by 1.5" and a depth of 0.9" Decorated with a lovely art nouveau design of scrolls and flowers etc. The interior has been gilded with gold. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1903(lid hallmarked also for 1903) and with a makers mark of JT&S for John Thompson and sons. Weighs 13.8g It has four small holes which i have highlighted in red circles. This is a super antique silver hinged lid box with hallmarks for the Schleissner company which was founded in Hanau in 1817 and was preeminent in the making of classical style silver. It has the typical swan hallmark on both the lid and on the bottom of the box plus a couple of other hallmarks that are indistinct but appear to be fruit. The work of the Schleissner company was always good quality and bore a certain style. This lovely box is decorated on the top with a repousse picture of a man who could be King George III or George IV which would date it to the early 19th century somewhere between 1800- 1830. Antique Indian Solid Silver Reliaf Decorated Trinket Pill or Snuff Box circ 1910
Antique Indian Solid Silver Raised Relief Decorated Circular Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box circa 1890 This Antique Box measures approximately 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm across the width or diameter of its lid from side to side and it stands just over 1 1/4 inches or 33 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from solid silver in a circular with a push fitting lid that overhangs the body slightly for ease of opening. The sides of the body along with the top of the lid have been hand embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with stylized Indian scrolls, flowers and foliage and the box stands on a flat base the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and although I have been unable to find any silver marks as is very typical with antique Indian silver items the ... morebox has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver. I estimate that it was made circa 1900- 1920. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The box has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I have found, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens and closes fairly tightly with ease although as this is a used antique trinket. Pill or snuff box it does have one tiny shallow dent in the side rim of its lid along with the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique Indian trinket, pill or snuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it has a delightful look about it considering that it's around 100 or so years old. This is a Hallmarked silver pillbox. But could be used for any small trinkets etc. I have not been able to tell where the hallmark is from but the symbol on the lid is I am told the Egyptian tree of life, and I have read that other countries and many faiths use this symbol, I had initially thought it was Celtic. The box is in good condition and has been well looked after. The oval shaped box is 4.4 width. 3cm, top to bottom and is 1.2 cm depth, it weighs 26.1grams. No Holes, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is crisp, the lid opens and closes tightly with ease, the internal gilding is a good colour with only minimal wear, the Swedish solid silver marks are still clearly legible although as this table top trinket or snuff box is a used antique it does have some small shallow dents around its body and lid along with some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique Swedish table top trinket or snuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it looks absolutely fantastic cons

Antique Dutch Solid Silver Relief Decorated Trinket or Pill Box from Amsterdam circa 1930's This Antique Dutch Trinket or Pill Box measures approximately 1 5/8 inches or 41 mm across the length of its body from side to side by 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm across the width of its body from the hinge to the front and it stands 7/8 of an inch or 22 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. The box is made from 28.8 grams of solid silver in an oval shape that has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid. The outer body of the box has been delightfully embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with a band of stylized flowers and foliage over a rib decorated lower band and the lid rim has also been relief decorated with a ribbed band for ease of opening, the top of the lid has also been wonderfully raised relief and engrave decorated ... morewith a Dutch street scene that includes knights, men, women, children and a dog etc with a castle in the background and the box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below, the underside of the body has been impressed with a Dutch.833 standard solid silver sword mark along with the Dutch silversmith or makers mark of Zaanlandse Zilversmederij from Amsterdam whose mark is recorded as being used from 1920 again as photographed below and I estimate that this trinket or pill box was made circa 1930's. Antique Style Solid Silver And Blue Enamel Pill/ Trinket Box
Antique style solid silver pillbox or trinket box with a beautiful indigo blue enamelled lid. The box is well made and the condition is very good. There is one very small ding underneath and a tiny bit of fading to the enamel at the front of the lid. However for a vintage item it is in good condition, the hinge is still perfect and it opens and closes very well. It has been polished. The box weighs 57.5 grams and measures 4 cm width and 3.5 cm length. There is a hallmark on the base and inside the lid. I think it is continental silver. The two things that make this box special is the colour of the lid which is an amazing shade of Indigo or perhaps it could be described as Midnight Blue. And it has a really glossy finish.
