THIS IS A STUNNING STERLING SILVER VANITY JAR MEASURING CLOSE TO 3" TALL X 2 1/2" ACROSS THE LID. THE JAR IS CUT CRYSTAL AND HAS AN EIGHT POINTED STAR CUT ON THE BOTTOM. THE BODY IS VARIOUS DIAMOND CUTS. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE CRYSTAL. THE STERLING SILVER LID HAS A FEW DENTS AROUND THE EDGE AND TWO CREASES BUT THE HEAVY ROLLED EDGE SEEMS TO HAVE PROTECTED IT FROM SEVERE DAMAGE. The silver lid is decorated in crisp relief with a floral design around a plain silver central cartouche. The lid also has pierced oblong shaped decoration on the relief scrollwork. The impressed set of hallmarks may be seen on the outer edge of the lid. The maker’s mark is illegible. Followed by the Anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office and the Lion Passant for 92.5% solid sterling silver. The date letter is not that clear. But it looks like the lowercase e for the year 1904. The clear cut glass body is oval shaped with a starburst pattern on the base. The sides have been hand cut with a diamond shaped pattern.
