There are no dings on the top with the image. I have left the silver unpolished but it could be easily polished if desired. The top is 1 3/4 inches(4.3 cm) in diameter. And 1 1/4 inches(35 mm) tall. An elegant German Solid Silver circular Pill Box with beautifully embossed cover and sides. The base bears the distinctive Crown and Crescent Hallmarks of Post-1886 German Silver together with the'800' silver purity mark. There is a maker's mark'C' within a shield but I have been unable to identify this. The Box is 45mm in diameter and 15mm tall. it weighs 28 grams. The Top is exquisitely embossed with two Putti or Cherubs arranging flowers. The side has corresponding foliate embossing below a beaded band. The interior is gilded. Condition is excellent. The Lid fits snugly and opens smoothly. The hinge is good. There is no damage and the embossing is nice and clear. The gilding is smart and intact. A beautiful example of Antique German Silverware. Here is a fantastic Victorian solid sterling silver pill box with gilt interior. The lid is embossed with the head of a woman and the sides with scrolls and flowers. It has full import marks for Sheffield 1899 with makers mark S.B.L. Also marked 930 on base. 1.3" diameter and 1" high. It weighs 23.4g. Very good condition with just a few tiny dinks. In very good condition this heart shaped Victorian pill or snuff box has a full set of English silver hallmarks for 1899. The box lid has an embossed design of leaves and buds. It has a central cartouche which is free of any engraving or initials. The box opens and closes securely. Condition is very good and there are no holes in the embossed design. Which can be a common fault in boxes of this age. Hallmarks are clear and show A&LL for silversmiths Adie& Lovekin Ltd. Anchor for Birmingham, Lion Passant for sterling and date letter z for 1899. Closed the box measures 30 mmx 30 mmx12 mm. This is a very pretty box. Now 115 years of age and would make a wonderful addition to a collection or as a gift.
