Large Shreve & Co Sterling Silver 14th Century Arts & Craft Humidor Box Chest
Offered from the arts and crafts era this glass lined humidor made from mahogany and has massive hand hammered sterling strap-work hinges. The box is almost 5 inches tall. 12 wide and 8 deep. Very heavy thick wood. Overall condition is very good. The wood has age appropriate(100 years) cracks and wear. No major scratches, chips or gashes. Sterling in excellent condition, the clasp fits nice and tight. One point of a hinge needs to be tightened down. Impressive to view, displays extremely well. There is a decorative period arts and craft mono DLF. It is marked sterling under the clasp but no makers mark. This sterling strap-work in the Shreve XIV Century pattern could only have been made by Shreve or one of their craftsmen such as John Bellis. Refund in full if not delighted. Custom Sterling Silver(925) by famous Argentina silversmith Juan C. Pallarols. Juan C. Pallarols descended from a long line of prestigious Catalan silversmiths. He is training his two sons to become the seventh generation of Pallarols in the trade. His own creations. He says are in the hands of King Juan Carlos of Spain and President Francois Mitterrand of France, and are often selected by the Argentine Government as official gifts to foreign dignitaries. I believe the glue residue under the lid held the plaque identifying the person gifted. There are no engravings on the humidor and one could easily re-gift by having a plaque made and covering the old glue spot under the lid(or simply remove the glue residue) Comes with a very nice presentation Box that does have some light rub marks and scraps(see pictures) Size of humidor exterior is 9.12inches ... morewide 6.25inches back to front and 2.45inches tall. Interior is 7.5 inches wide 4.55inches back to front and 1.25inches deep. It is designed to only hold 5 or 6 cigars under 7.5 inches in length. It weights approximately 1 Pound. Antique 1800s John Samuel Hunt Roskell Sterling Silver Humidor Box Latch Key
Recently acquired from an estate. This is one of many unique auctions. This auction is for a fantastic antique late 1800s Sterling Silver box with key made by Jon Samuel Hunt. Weighing in at 400 grams, this piece measures 4-1/2 x 4 x 3. With an all over texture like pattern, it also has 2 handles a matching handle finial, all 3 pieces are stamped with John Samuel Hunts stamp as well as the key. Key slide into a latch and is connected to this piece with chain. Back of this piece haswhat resembles straps, and outer rim of this piee is also stamped. There is 3 tiny dings on the top and a couple on the exterior of the body. None of these detract from its uniqueness and beauty. Fabulous Jewelled Sterling Silver Humidor c. 1908
I have had this(what I consider) spectacular piece of English Arts& Crafts silver for many years. I bought it in a small antique store about 20 years ago. Provenance: It is my belief that this is the work of gold and silver craftsman George Henry Cowell of London. UK, c.1908. According to Elyse Karlin's book, Jewelry& Metawork In the Arts& Crafts Tradition. A Mr. Cowell was a teacher of Henry Wilson(who briefly partnered with master enameler Alexander Fisher) and John Paul Cooper. Of course, it could be a different Cowell than my George Henry Cowell, but the dates and London location make sense. Jewellers& Allied Traders 1838-1914 From the London Assay Office Registers Vol. 1(1987) Item: This is a sterling silver ... morehumidor with plaque of wire work and bezel set semi-precious stones. Stones include cabochon turquoise. Moonstones, faceted garnets and amethysts, and one amber toned stone that I don't know. It may be a variety of jade. The interior is cedar lined, and in good shape. One crack that was repaired by a previous owner. The reliquary type compartment at the center of the plaque is hinged on a wrought silver reverse flared conical base with a glass lens. The base and top are trimmed with a leaf and berry motif. The size is 8.5" x 6.25" at the base, 7.5" x 5.25" at the top and 2.25" in height. The box has a leather covered bottom that shows wear that is consistent for its age. Condition: The box is solid. The rear hinge is in excellent condition. All bezel settings are tight and the wirework and trim are firmly attached to the box. One garnet(emerald cut shape) has a slight chip in it that is not easily noticeable. Other than the afore mentioned wear to the bottom and the crack in the cedar lining the box is nearly perfect for being 106 years of age. VINTAGE SILVER CIGAR/CIGARETTE BOX This wonderful vintage cigar box has a textured top monogrammed with the initials GK. The inside is cedar and the bottom appears to be faux leather. I believe the hallmarks on this box indicate that it was made by Sanders& Mackenzie of Birmingham. England. This collectible estate piece has quite a few small bumps and dents-most are minor. The inside wood is in good shape except on the top. Inside, right side, the little trim board is missing. The box closes nicely when pushed down but doesn't remain securely closed. CIGAR HUMIDOR .925 STERLING SILVER BOX Aviointeriors Mahogany Box
For your consideration a humidor measures 10 1/4" x 5 5/8" x 2 3/4" The weighing of the box is 2 lbs 7.4 grams. We were unable to separate the silver and wood. The top of the box is marked Prosperous New Year Aviointeriers. On the inside lid and on the bottom is marked.925 and two makers marks. The wood on the inside is a tight grain mahogany with a clear seal on the top and bottom. I believe in my own research that this is given to the buyers or owners who purchase from the Aviointeriers company. The humidor would have been filled with cigars as a gift from the company for doing business with them. The company is still in operation today and located in Italy.
