The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

But they also could be mahogany as ... moreI am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are loose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. Demi-cabriole legs. Dark peach velvet fabric is in decent condition with no rips or tears. There are spots with velvet missing. These are stunning parlor chairs and would add a touch of Victorian Grace to any room. If the Lady's chair is to be used for more than decoration. Pair of Victorian Parlor Chairs (c/1875) -- walnut w/ new upholstery
I inherited this set of lovely Victorian parlor chairs from my parents in 1975. They had been given to them in 1945 from the estate of two sisters who lived next door. The sisters and their parents had lived in the same house since around 1875. Thus. I believe the chairs are about 125 years old. I had the chairs completely reupholstered and recovered when I redecorated our home in 1996-97. Since then I have kept them covered with heavy cotton dust covers(see photos) which are included. The chairs were displayed on a balcony over the foyer and have not been used for seating. I'm a private seller; not a dealer. Thus. They have recently been reupholstered in the last 5 years in a gorgeous floral fabric. They went to town on it. They did a nice job on the chairs. They even cushioned and wrapped the arm chair on the arms. The chairs themselves are a work of art. They have a burl walnut panel on the back. Down the side post, across the front skirt, and multi-turnings on the legs and wonderful detail carvings across the backs. Here is another amazing Victorian parlor chair. This one is carved walnut with very nice salmon colored velvet upholstery. I do not believe this is the original upholstery but it is not new either, please note wear on arms especially and on the seat, as shown clearly in photographs- if you do not like wear on fabric and do not plan to reupholster please do not bid on this piece. The wear is consistent with age and use and I think it adds to the chair's charm. The chair is comfortable and tight. No odors. Perhaps needs a cleaning but in fact there is no visible dirt on the chair. The measurements are: 38" HIGH. 25 1/2" WIDE at WIDEST PART OF SEAT. 19 1/2" DEEP SEAT. 13" FROM BOTTOM OF SEAT TO FLOOR. We place this chair at about 1870. It is all solid wood and looks to be a dark walnut. The seat is a nice size and is covered in needlepoint. We are not sure if the finish and covering are original. But they are very old that is for sure. The chair is solid but has a repair at the back side piece. The chair needs a good polishing it has been stored all winter. I have up for sale a gorgeous matching pair of Antique circa 1870s or there abouts Victorian Walnut Side Chairs. Very unusual upper section featuring carved serpents. The chairs are walnut with burl veneer accents. Eastlake spoon carving and ball top finials. The chairs are in Superb Condition- appear to have been refinished and reupholstered at sometime in the past. This would have been done many years back as the lovely woman that I purchased these from was well into her 80s and probably done this back in the 50s at the time when they moved into their home. They were cherished and extremely well cared for any use wear is most meager-condition wise impossible to get any better than this. The chairs each stand approx 38" tall.Approx 19" wide across the front of the set, approx 18" from the ground to the top of the seat, approx ... more18-3/4" across the wood frame on the top of the chairs back. Perfect for a Victorian Parlor Decor, a bedroom as they are smaller in size, as a desk chair,etc. The chairs are in fabulous condition! The upholstery is gorgeous- clean- with most minimal of any wear- no stains and no odors or issues of anykind. Basically as Good As it Gets. I notice on very minor imperfection- an old crack/ repair on one of the bracket arm supports-shown in my last pic. This is superficial and not something that would be noticed unless viewing closeup with scrutiny. The chairs are strong and sturdy. The wood is in excellent shape, appear to have been refinished by someone who really knew what they were doing. Any wear is most minor- no real issues. With all this said- these are not chairs intended to be used by someone of extreme weight or size. They are basically the side of a dining room chair- smaller in size when compared to a arm chair or something of that nature. Use my measurements and your common sense. For sale is this lovely pair of side chairs from a very old VA estate. I do not know when they were made or by whom. I believe they are Walnut but I do not know for sure. The frame of these chairs is carved and very ornate. It has flowers and roses carved into it and the back cushion is not the standard round or square but rather a unique shape. They are currently upholstered in a gold and blue striped fabric that I believe is the original fabric. The upholstery is in need of repair(see photos) One chair has a repair in the upper right corner(see photos) Dimensions of chairs are as follows: 37 inches high from floor to the top of chair; seat height is 17 1/2 inches; 18 inches deep; and 18 inches wide. Up for sale i have a very nice pair of his and hers antique walnut parlor chairs, balloon back, his has about a 40" tall back, 24" x 23" seats, hers the back is about 38" L ooks like the fabric was probably replaced. Looks good. as you can see i pulled back part of the cloth on the bottom hoping to find a name, no name but it was interesting that there was thick strips of what looks like heavy burlap stretched tightly across the bottom. A couple of staples and it will look like new again. Probably from late 1800's. Hers has rollers on the front but not on the back. His has rollers on front and back. Pair of Antique Victorian Walnut Side Parlor Chair's Black Velvet Upholstered Chairs Size- the Back is 37 inches tall. About 19 inches wide and about a 17 inch seat height. Condition- Used and Re-upholstered. Some nicks dings and or scratches to the wood. Please review close ups. The chairs were professionally re-upholstered and one has the tag on the bottom the other looks like it was peeled off. Antique Glue joints present and a small crack to the wood by on one chair by the lower back support. This small crack in the wood does not affect the chairs sturdiness. Victorian Burled Walnut Carved Parlor and Dining Sets Great Condition 7 pc
Beautiful early Victorian matched set of carved walnut pieces with burled walnut insets. Has been reupholstered. But otherwise seems like original finish. Includes Settee, Gentlemans chair with arms, Ladies chair without arms. Upholstered parlor set has original feet with wheels on all four legs. Four dining/game table balloon chairs have wheels on front two cabriole legs. Excellent condition. Except for chip in one dining chair at joint(see photo) which could be repaired. Likely dates from 1870s. Has been in family for over 130 years, likely from western NY area, well cared for in a non-smoking home. PAIR OF Antique CARVED WALNUT Victorian PARLOR Arm CHAIRS Needlepoint 19th Cent
For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as I am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions.
