The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

Both these antique parlor chairs have cabriole legs in the front with the original castors; the lady’s chair has finger carving which has an oversize medallion back and dainty hip rests and the gent’s chair has dainty open arms. The woodwork on the gent’s chair is a bit narrower than the lady’s chair. The fabric is nice and usable, but the fabric on the top of the lady’s chair could be tightened up a bit. Victorian Ladies Rocking Chair Original Mohair Seat
This is a beautiful ladies rocker from the Victorian Era. It was recovered back in the 1930's with mohair(according to the lady that sold it to me) It is in original condition otherwise. I have included pictures to show its condition and wear. There is a little damage on front left corner. Please see last picture. Measurement: Seat is 14" tall by 14-3/4" deep by 17" wide in front and 14-1/4 in back. The back is 32" tall and 14" wide at the top. The rocking legs are 27" across. As you can see there is a label(next to last) of when it was reupholstered; unfortunately. This label looks like it is covering the original label. ANTIQUE LADIES ROCKING CHAIR - Civil War Era
Beautiful small wooden rocker from the Civil War era. Today it almost appears to be a child's rocker. But it was crafted for a woman(people were much smaller at that time) The seat is wider than it would be if the rocker was for a child, but it is only 13 inches off the ground. The top of the back is 36 inches from the ground. There are some very simple carvings on the top and sides of the back and on the front framework between the seat and the legs. I think the wood is cherry, but it could be walnut with a red/brown stain. It is in excellent condition and makes a nice accent piece. This chair is currently in North Carolina. It could be picked up here, of if the purchaser lived in an area that I travel to, it could be delivered for a small fee.

Antique Victorian 1800s Ladies/Sewing/Nursing Rocking Chair & Matching Footstool
For your consideration. Is a beautiful antique Victorian(I don’t think it is a reproduction, but if it is, it’s still old) circa 1800’s, ladies rocker used for sewing, nursing or just sitting. And, it has a matching rocker footstool. Very rare to find the two pieces. The lovely armless chair has a stunning curved wood frame with carved wood on either side of the back and also in front below the seat on both sides. Not exactly sure what kind of wood it is made from. The seat is shaped similar to a heart that is squared off at the bottom and the chair is extremely comfortable to sit in. The back is a long oval shape and has three vertical tufted buttons. The velvety velour fabric is yellow/gold in color and half inch, decorative and angled nail heads are used to adhere the fabric to the frame. The nail heads are placed one against the other ... moreall around the back and seat. I’m not sure if the fabric is original, but it is well upholstered. There is a tag stapled to the bottom of the chair—see pix—that says Consolidated Manufacturers, Memphis 1, TN. The rocking footstool is adorable and matches the chair in fabric and nail heads. Considering the age. Both pieces are in excellent condition. There are no breaks or fractures in the wood frame or carvings. There is some wear on the corners of the wood consistent with age and use that could be touched up, but personally I think it adds to the charm. The fabric is in great condition with a few spots that could be removed with cleaning. Pieces were inherited from my Grandmother and I am not sure where/how she acquired them. I am also unsure about it's actual age. I would think sometime in the very late 1800's, or early 1900's. It does show signs of typical wear that comes with furniture of it's age and material. It is believed to have been made in the time period from late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. I have never seen one quite like it before, and believe it to be a rare find, especially in such great condition. It appears to be made of cherry wood and decorated with a beautifully painted floral on the seat. On the center back of the chair, there is a graceful lady dancing hold a hand-mirror. The frame of the back of the chair also has hand-painted delicate flowers adorning it. I'm not sure if you can see it in photos, ... morebut the front of the legs have a small amount of floral hand-painting on them, as well. The back of chair appears to be hand-carved with elegant detail having a hole that fits 2-3 fingers to lift and move the chair. While adult size, it is small in stature, possibly having been a vanity or dressing table chair for the lady, or simply a decorative side chair suitable for nearly any room.
