Elaborately Carved Crest Item# 120011OPP10B This is a wonderful pair of antique french fauteuil arm chairs of noteworthy proportions. They are both truly statement pieces. The crests a complex and precise work of art of floral influence, flowing into a plain molded frame around a raised upholstered backing. The two outward scrolling arms have thick stuffed upholstery along the top, these flanking a very deeply sprung upholstered seat. The springs and webbing are firm, the upholstery in overall very good shape(chair two with two areas of note worthy wear, the loose threads showing through in those two areas- no stains) these are incredibly comfortable chairs. They rest over two cabriole front legs ... moreof acanthus carved form. The underside of the seat is unfinished, revealing the pegged tenon-mortise construction and an illegible label beneath the midmost point of the apron. This is an outstanding pair of chairs for any decorator looking to bring life to a formal sitting room- they should be part of a home where care will be shown. As the arms are weak where they join the back. These are fully functional and visually wonderful pair of substance, a pair that will certainly be enjoyed for a lifetime. Just removed from New York City Estate. We offer this great pair of antique 19th century extra large Arm Chairs. Great curves all around, pierced carved window panels inserted on all sides, spindle finials, the works! Entire piece is covered with thick inlaid pieces of Mother of Pearl. Made in Morocco, brought to US after WW1. The condition of the chairs is good, no breaks, structuraly sound, it shows on the underside that they were reinforced for stability in last 20(or so) years. Pair of Antique Hand painted French or English Spoon Back Arm Chairs
These are two very nice hand painted spoon back arm chairs. L would say they were made in England although they look French, l purchased them in England. The one with the brown seat and dark fabric to the back is circa 1880. The other one l would say it later maybe 50 or 60 years old and painted to match the other one as a pair. l am selling them as a pair as they look fine together. The one with cream fabric is a little larger than the other one, maybe one is a ladies and the other one is a gents. The one with the cream fabric is just a tinge darker than the other one. But looks fine and would look great recovered.

antique gold gilt french arm chairs nice carving and new fabric large chairs
for auction a pair of very nice antique french gold gilt chairs. they are circa 1880 or so i believe. at any rate they are both large arm chairs with very nice form and carvings not only on the crest but arms and legs as well. jeanie just had them recovered in a very nice fabric that depicts bees. the cost to recover these two chairs was in excess of 500.00 but i have forgotten the exact amount. as i said they are large and it took a lot of fabric. chairs are in very good condition with only a few minor injuries to the gold gilt surfaces. i hope the pictures are good enough to actually give a better description about their condition and appearance than i have in mine. anyway. for sale a great set of antique solid quartersawn oak dining chairs with nicely carved crests. the chairs are all rock solid and have not even a hint of a wiggle. They are finished in a medium oak that brings out the wonderful deep press on the design back. There are seven multi turn extra long spindles that give you a comfortable seat with a big bold rolled arm in solid oak that i s supported with 3 spindles and a large post. The scooped out seat provides ample comfort. It has multi turn cross stretcher triple cross stretchers for added strength and sturdiness. 20.5 inches wide. 17 inches deep, 44.5 inches high to the back, 29.5 inches high to the arms and 18.5 inches high to the seat. Both chairs have a beautifully stenciled fruit bowl and floral decoration on their middle back slat. As well as other stenciling on the front edge of the seat, on the top bar, and on some of their rails. These chairs are unsigned, nice and sturdy, not wobbly, and they have some scuffs due to normal use. Both rush seats, however, have a small area where the rush has been torn and worn-away. wonderful pair of antique burl walnut john jellif arm chairs mint original super
for auction is the very finest pair of john jellif burl walnut arm chairs to be found. these chairs are presented in mint original condition devoid of damage or repair to my eye at least. they are as solid as a rock. No wiggles, wobbles, squeaks, no nothing, just perfect. i have seen some a bit more ornate but never have i owned any chairs that were any nicer. they have an abundance of burl accents just about anywhere it could be placed. the back crest has great carvings, finials, and a very nice center medallion. the front legs are a bit unusual as they boast a double trumpet near the tops of the legs. they have all the original brass casters. the fabric of course is not original and is somewhat dated. i expect the chairs were recovered about 40 years ago, but have never been used. in fact from the condition of the chairs i do not think ... morethey have ever been used. they are large chairs being 27 inches across the widest part of the arms. the seats are 23 inches deep. the seat is just at 16 inches above the floor. from the floor to the top of the crest finial is 41.5 inches. the back of the chairs the fabric is tufted and pleated. i don't think the pictures show it well, but the fabric is pleated across the front of the seats. the covering is done in very fine fashion and the material would be very costly and has a very nice pattern to it. i don't much else to say other than the pictures do not show the beauty of the chairs very well. they are just great chairs and are as near perfect as one will find. they may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. the starting price is for the pair. i really think they should stay together so i don't think i would just sell one. good luck.

The craftsmanship and care throughout quite noteworthy. The frames are intricately embellished with deep three dimensional representations of waterleaves within a squared border. The crest is flanked on either side by pyramidical finials draped in the carved acanthus. This same motif employed in in the hand holds, along the arm supports and wrapped around the top of both front legs. The carved workmanship is pristine and well preserved, the recesses retaining early oxidized finish remnants under wax. They are both truly statement pieces. The crests a complex and precise work of art of floral influence, flowing into a plain molded frame around a raised upholstered backing. The two outward scrolling arms have thick stuffed upholstery along the top, these flanking a very deeply sprung upholstered seat. The springs and webbing are firm, the upholstery in overall very good shape(chair two with two areas of note worthy wear, the loose threads showing through in those two areas- no stains) these are incredibly comfortable chairs. They rest over two cabriole front legs of acanthus carved form. The underside of the seat is unfinished, revealing the pegged tenon-mortise ... moreconstruction and an illegible label beneath the midmost point of the apron. Measurements: 28 1/2" wide x approximately 29" deep x 39 3/4" high to crest; 20" high to seat Condition Report: Chair 1: 1. Both arm joints are repaired and rebuilt poorly with colored gesso. Each still slightly weak. 2. Front right leg braced with a metal bracket. 3. Rear left leg repaired with a dowel and gesso. 4. Upholstery in excellent condition with no notable flaws. 5. PAIR OF Antique CARVED WALNUT Victorian PARLOR Arm CHAIRS Needlepoint 19th Cent
For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as I am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. Retaining their original painted surfaces Item# 411UMH15 This is such an unusual and wonderful pair of French Louis XVI Style arm chairs. Particularly for their very striking proportions. They are almost diminutive, though actually still reasonable for a smaller adult to lounge in comfortably- naturally, you will want to look closely at the dimensions and make sure they are a good fit for your space, but they are such an interesting and striking form that when covered in a new upholstery they will certainly be a strike point in whatever room they join. The frames retain their original pale green paint, this with extensive oxidization and wear resulting in an absolutely gorgeous patina. They are surprisingly heavy, the frames crafted with very generous ... moreamounts of dense hardwood- it appears to be either beech or a fruitwood beneath the paint, though this is difficult to ascertain with the paint intact. The design is well thought out. Leveraging the overall square profile of the chairs to their fullest with the sharp molding of the frame, the reeded lines that follow through the handholds and down the arm supports and the tight fluting of the tapered legs. The carved corners over the legs feature deep and quite active floral rosettes of a somewhat atypical influence. The chairs rest over pinched French feet.
