for sale a great set of antique solid quartersawn oak dining chairs with nicely carved crests. the chairs are all rock solid and have not even a hint of a wiggle. Offered here these 4 victorian circa 1860-1880s Quartersawn oak chairs with very unusual northwind faces. I never have seen any with open mouths that double as handles. I took some of these pictures with flash and some outside in sunlight but chairs are really really dark and I believe have their original finish as well as their seats. All four chairs are super sturdy and there are a few light scuffs but nothing major. there are a couple of super tight age cracks on the back of one of the chairs that you wouldn't even notice unless you were inches away and looking for them. the captains chairs are 44" tall and 24' wide. The other 2 are 42 1/2" tall and 18" wide. they all have working wooden rollers on front legs that can be removed one wooden roller is gone from one chair but metal fixture for it is still there. for auction is a very nice quartersawn oak split pedestal dining table with 4 very nice quartersawn oak dining chairs to match. the table is 48 inches in diameter and is a great size for use. the larger tables are difficult to pass food across. anyway. The table opens without effort and allows for 4- 12 inch leaves which fit to perfection and original to the table. the table has large claw feet that are very well executed. the chairs have extra large claw feet as well. i am selling this as a set as they have always been together from day one. i did recover the seats on the chairs before i listed them. they sit nice, i added another 1 inch of flat foam to the cushions. the table has a very nice and contoured center leg support. at any rate when the table is all the way open i think it is 102 inches, so practically 4- 12 inch leaves would be ... moreall that could be inserted, amking it an 8 foot banquet table, which is larger than many dining rooms will accept. i have many more pictures, if you would like to see more just ask. ebay only allows me 12 pictures. it is a wonderful set in near mint condition. it is very sturdy and tight. no wiggles, wobbles, a very sturdy and well made set. it may be picked up at my home pr shipped at buyer's expense. good luck i might split the set if it does not sell, but i would prefer to keep it together and if i split it, i will no doubt ask for some extra price. i am sure i am starting it for less than i have in it, considering the expense of recovering etc.

Exceptional set of four Oak Press Back chairs circa 1910. Chairs are in excellent condition and were re-caned about three years ago at a cost of $300 for the set and pretty much have been in storage ever since. I purchased these chairs in 1977 and have owned them the last 37+ years. They were purchased from the Kalamazoo Antique Emporium and were originally a set of eight. When I purchased these chairs they were the very best and most beautiful set of oak pressed back chairs I had ever seen in my life. I have had people suggest that they were manufactured by a company called Larkin but I honestly have no idea(and I don't think so) and I have not found any that were a match. I have for sale 4 antique English oak double barley twist chairs with carved details. There are 3 side chairs and 1 arm chair. They have(I believe) the original finish with good patina and are nicely upholstered in a red fabric with a square checked design. The fabric is fairly new and in good condition. All the webbing/padding appears original. These chairs are in very good condition(especially considering their age) Are sturdy and have had very minor glue repairs over the years. The arm chair is slightly larger than the side chairs. All the seats are 18 inches high, the arms on the arm chair are 28 inches high. The arm chair is 45-1/2 inches tall, 22 inches wide at the front and 21-1/2 inches deep at the seat.
