Description THIS EXQUISITE CHILD'S CHAIR IS ABSOLUTELY LOVELY AND PICTURES DO IT NO JUSTICE. RESTORED AND NEWLY REUPHOLSTERED BY MY FRENCH UPHOLSTERER. IT DESERVES A FINE HOME WITH PERIOD APPOINTMENTS. The chair was purchased from a very high end auction at a townhouse in Manhattan. The chair was in a drab old worn out fabric at the time. But the guts of the chair and form deserved all the work and money put into it. The chair was stripped down and totally redone by professionals.no do it yourself hobbyist's. I believe the chair is from England. The folks who owned it were very wealthy and all their furniture was from England and France. It could be American.but I very much doubt it. The measurements are: height is 38 3/8" high to top of back. Wing to wing horizontal is 21" across, seat is 20" wide and 15 1/2" ... moredeep, and from floor to seat the measurement is 15" The fabric is a brand new P.Kaufmann soil and stain resistant(printed right on fabric) fabric. Obviously scotchguarded; lovely chintz. The colors are vibrant and so English and chic. The sides of the chair are a soft suede cotton made by Waverly; some folks call it ultrasuede. There springs are excellent and redone. The whole chair is in excellent, like new, condition. It has never been around any smoking or pet environment and is pristine. Age of the basic chair(before the new upholstery of course) is around 1835 to 1860 conservatively. It is probably older but I feel comfortable with those dates. Good and strong structurally. Nothing was overlooked or not attended to professionally. Shipping for this chair is FREE on Long Island in Suffolk and Nassau counties; Queens county is $75 to $100. Parts of New England are also $75 to $130 and other midwestern or west coast are $100 to $300. Usually on the lower end.so ASK. This is a wonderful antique. Quarter sawn oak, child's Morris style chair. Mission oak. This is from an estate so I don't have the history. Please study the many photos I've provided. You can scroll down through the photos to see all 11. It is mortis and tendon construction with dowels. The only nails I see are holding down the seat and maybe some holding the arms. In addition to the dowels. I can't tell if the seat is original or a replacement from another antique chair. I have seen this style of seat on other antique chairs. This all looks very old, probably late 1800s to early 1900s. Condition: I don't see any new repairs or refinish. I see one 3" age split in the back of one arm. It is not creating a problem. Still secure. It is very sturdy and solid. To recline the chair. The metal bar is manually removed and ... moreplaced in the desired slot. The total height. TAKE A SEAT! For those collectors out there with a good eye for antiques. Please take a peek at our New Jersey 18th c Child's Farmhouse Chair recently discovered in a Garden State old house sale, with magnificent black over old red paint untouched condition with good patina wear, and wonderful natural bullrush seat, with shaped front stile and good height on floor, sturdy and sound. This is truly a child sized chair, a prized find out in the field, we are pleased to bring to the table for purchase this week. Ladderback Chair measures a mere 28" tall with a seat proportion of 13" x 16.5" resting on tapered original legs not cut down. Not ended out. The rungs clear the floor 3" all good original proportions. Nicely turned simple design, with elegant country elements, but not a crude depiction by far; the little chair ... moreexudes much grace. I have a news clipping that shows children of period times often turned these over, holding onto upper ladderback ends, pushing them across the floor, to learn to walk and steady themselves; the one so pictured looks very much like this one right on target. Black paint made from oxides was the most common 18th c color that hangs on tight and ages well. Please study the pictures to see fine detials of genuine guaranteed antique period chair, taken outside at all angles. I am a chair-o-phile myself. Some women said to collect purses, my weakness was always 18th c chairs. Each one bears the honesty of times past, portable, country hand made, vernacular design, and ever useful. I would state this example is wearing its second rush seat; natural rush has a lifespan of approximately 100 years before crumbling, this seat is replaced but with quality natural correct materials that alone has great value. Measures 24 1/2" tall to the top of the back. Measures 11 1/2" to the top of the seat. Seat measures 13" across the front and 10" across the back. Seat measures 12" from front to back. I can not find a makers mark anywhere on it but I have taken 12 high quality pictures that show exactly what the chair looks like. I took close up's of the joints and construction details as well as the woven slat seat and the early designed Finals. I can not find another chair that looks exactly like this for comparison so I am listing it as"shaker style" because that is the closest design it matches. Antique, Primitive Childs Rocking Chair, Shaker, Cane, Wood Woven Seat & Back
I don't know much about this chair so I have something wrong. Feel free to let me know. It's a very solid chair with great design and hand done ornamentation. Very simple with lightly carved spindle ends and woven back and seat. Judging by the wear I'm guessing it's over 100 years old. The weave is in good shapeand all joints are very solid. I believe it's made of maple or poplar. Aged very well and sits straight and strong. Wood on most of it appears to be hand carved and worked. You can see some areas had painted or stained accent areas that have faded. Chair is about 2 feet tall and rocker rails are also about 2 ft long. Looks like it would be for a toddler. Offered here is an antique pilgrim style childs' chair. This chair stands 24" high. It is 14" wide across the front. 10" deep and the height of the seat is 9 1/2" The chair has a soft, silky finish. There are some old, shallow, smooth scratches, commensurate with age and use. The patina is lovely. The chair retains the original scribe marks, and is strong and sturdy. I would not trust the ancient seat with a childs' weight, but the seat is intact. It would proudly hold a special teddy bear or your favorite doll, in high style! There are no markings on it besides the painting to identify a maker etc. it is really sturdy wood with one crack on the top of which I took a picture and some chips on the painting and legs. It is pretty old so it is holding up well and still looks really beautiful. The piece is very well built and stands 71cm/28" tall by 38cm/15" by 51cm/20" at the base. The condition is very good for its age with a small split to the front of the seat and some historic woodworm hole the underneath of the seat. None of the above affects the look or use of the chair. This is a wooden plank bottom chair with good arms and seat back.The whole chair is in very good condition although one of the legs has been repaired with a nail. I'm not sure if the leg split slightly because of the nail or if it was split before the repair. I also believe it was painted at some point later in its life. Still very sturdy after all these years.

Antique Shaker Style Childs Arm Chair with Rushed Seat
Oak and Pine( construction. Has original finish. I can not speak to the date of the rush on the seat. However; it appears to be old and may be contemporary with the chair. The chair was in one family from the time that it was purchased, but there are no records to authenticate it's maker or purchase date. The seat was covered with a small pillow for many years, and the chair sat in a hallway away from sunlight, both of which contribute to it's excellent condition. The only issue that I am aware of is that the chair had metal nail on feet. Which were added at one point and then later removed.

For your consideration is an antique 1830 stenciled children's wooden chair(Lucy A. Snow) I purchased this chair at an estate sale and don't know anything about it. By judging the patina of the paint. I believe this chair is original and comes from the 1800's. As you can see in the picture, where the wood is split in the seat, it was repaired with tin strapping and flat head nails, which to me indicates it's age. One of the bottom rungs is missing from the chair but it does not take away from the structure, it's still sturdy. Also, there is a split in the wood on the back head rest. See pictures for details. I'm selling this lovely antique chair for a friend. She's owned it about 50 years and it was old when she bought it. I do not see any markings. This is a very nice little folding rocking chair- which is in very excellent antique condition! Probably from the late 1800's. No makers marks that I see. I'm no expert on these. It does have square nails. The expected patina for a chair this old, some signs of use/wear, probably has been recovered but it must have been professionally done. Fabric is a little faded but not stained or torn. It folds very welll- no problems! No cracks, no repairs- no issues that I see. See photos. Nice find! About 24" at the tallest- static(not rocking) seat is 15" w x 12" and approx. seat height is about 11.5" at the front the seat itself is about 16" wide. All items sold as ... moreis. Used items.
