Keep in mind that a slipper chair is much smaller than a traditional chair and the seat is closer to the ground. The mahogany frame is elegantly carved. Legs appear to be intact, I see no cracks or repairs. The bottom of the front legs have a brass trim and the the metal piece that hold the wood wheel to easily facilitate moving the chair around. Beautiful upholstery on this piece as well. I did nothing to clean it. Leaving that to the next owner. All I did was wipe down the piece. The back of the chair has the button to give that great effect and then the flat seat. I do not see a lot of wear or dirt/staining to the upholstery that needs attention. The chair is 27.5" tall. Pair Of Antique Victorian Louis XV Carved Walnut / Mahogany French Chairs
Both chairs are in nice shape for their age. They are upholstered in what feels like a silk like material and the bones are still strong and not wobbly. Wood has nicely detailed carvings throughout. I'm not sure if it is walnut or mahogany. But you can zoom in with the pictures and see for yourself. Nail studded trim work throughout the entire piece, even under the seat cushion. The upholstery may need a little minor cleaning on the arms, and there is minor wear on the wood, but since the chairs are obviously carved the minor wear gives them character and really goes unnoticed when looking at them overall. They are made of solid mahogany. They a beautifully carved flordelu atop a sheild back. The chairs are extremely sturdy and comfortable. The slip seats are easily reupholstered and were actually in the process of getting changed when we bought them, so you get the fabric to recover the second chair if you wish to. One chair got wet maybe near a window and now has some finish loss on one side of back rail. These chairs are very beautiful and stylish. A pair of antique. Circa 1890's, carved brown mahogany Elizabethan style tall hall chairs. They have spring cushioned seats, the seat and back in red-pink velvet upholstery. Chairs measure 53" tall by 21-1/2" wide, the seats 16" deep. Excellent condition: solid construction. Original finish. No chips or cracks. The upholstery is more recent- with some spots of sun fading, rips to front corners. The pair is for one price.

Seven American Federal Antique Dining Chairs, New York c. 1805-15, Mahogany Set
Set of Seven American Federal Mahogany Dining Chairs Probably New York. Possibly Philadelphia c. 1805-15 Chairs stamped"M B" on back rails Item# 130210WXD05 This is a delightful set of period American Federal Dining Chairs. Almost certainly New York City c. 1805-1815. The"bell-shaped" seat and square back was commercially successful only in New York City and Philadelphia, the only two centers that consistently produced the form. This set is particularly attractive with the unusual front legs, each deeply reeded and tapered, set on a cant with the seat- the effect is wonderful, lightening the shape of the chairs, particularly as the bell-shape juxtaposes the square austerity of the neoclassical profile. Each back is crafted identically, the crest dropping onto the stiles and spindles with small tenons; the plain square ... moreback is deeply reeded, terminating into the seat with a shaped panel return. The back side of the splat reveals a canted frame and stiles, squaring at the seat frame to flow into backswept square rear legs. The seat frames are American Ash[visual analysis. Not micro-analysis] with[possibly] cherry medial stretchers; the craftsmanship is quite ingenious, as the round of the seat would naturally place the most pressure on where the stiles join the frame. To protect the chairs from this, a medial stretcher dovetails into either side, the gap filled with a thin piece to distribute pressure along the stretcher evenly. The only chair where this is not the case is the arm chair, where the length of the arm acts as a square and removes the need for this labor intensive seat joinery. The back rail of each seat is branded"M B" and each chair is numbered on the medial stretcher, leading us to believe the original set had at least twenty chairs in it. Fresh from New York City Madison avenue Estate. We have a pleasure to offer you this magnificent pair of French antique Early 19th century Period Empire Flamed Mahogany and Parcel Gilt CHAIRS. I fell in love with them on the first sight. They have slightly curved legs, High framed center panel rests, featuring an awesome Empire parcel gilt carved flower scroll center cartouche. It was gilt over red base, just phenomenal. Please take your time going over photos, look closely at the quality and detail of construction, closeups of the grain of wood and elegance of this pair. Also note in the last two photos, focus on criss cross pegging(pegs) that are holding this pair of beauties together. No screws or nails in it's construction. The condition of the chairs is what you would expect from normal wear of the chairs that are aproaching 200 ... moreyears of age. Upholstery is most likely from the first half of 20th century, thick yellowish greenish leather that has wear, could be restored if you wish or reupholstered. Either way, I took great estimate for polishing(cleaning) the wood and upholstery and priced it in such way where after all the job is done you will have a pair of Empire Period Gems for half of what they are worth. Please shop around, you will not find this style pair with a remotely close price, much less to have them all in original condition solid as the Rock of Gibraltar. Again. You are bidding on a Pair of English carved Mahogany Rococo(French) style Boudior Chairs. Circa 1880. The chairs feature a exquisite quality offset carved back that mirrors the companion chair. The legs are cabriole style carved which is another sign of superior quality and superb craftsmanship. Rococo was an 18th-century artistic movement and style. It takes its name from the French rocaille(pronounced'rock-eye' Which means the rock or broken shell motifs that often formed part of the designs. 2 Antique mahogany carved side/sitting/parlor chairs
I have a pair of magnificent chairs for sale. These are solid Mahogany. The crest rail features masterfully carved cherub faces. With leaves carved at the ends. The front legs feature clawed feet carving. The backrest frame sides have fluting. I purchased these from a woman who moved here from England and brought them to the states with here. She said she purchased them from an elderly woman who had inherited them from her grandmother! I am not sure of the age, but they are certainly pre 1900. I have completely striped and refinished the wood. I tried to match the original color as best as possible. The frames were knocked apart and ever joint re glued. One chair had both seat side rails replaced, as the originals were to badly split to be salvaged. One chair also had repair work done on the front seat rail. But this is first set of six I have had since last summer. We have brought them in the shop. Hand stripped them, re-glued, sanded, repaired anything that needed repair, stained them a rich luxurious mahogany color just like the factory and applied multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer. It is amazing how they matched up the flame mahogany back in those days when they had none of the tools that we do nowadays. These chairs have a balloon back, cut out fancy splat, curved and flame mahogany, saber style front leg, a flared back leg that follows up into the contours of the back and a rolled skirt that is all mahogany. We have reupholstered the seats in a period style fabric and if you want to change them it is very easy. We have done all the work and all you will have to do is slide your fabric right on top of ours and staple it right in. The chairs are outstanding. There is one chair that I can see a line on the back, which is normal for the age. This beautiful high quality mahogany matching set of settee and chairs possibly dates back to the turn of the century or earlier. They are in excellent condition with only a few minor scratches. There is only one metal screw showing- at the underside of the armless chair. All other connections have plugs. They are 40" tall, 22" wide, seats are 17" deep, the backs are 14" wide and the settee is 41" wide. As you can see there is extensive carving of acanthus leaves and clamshell designs with openwork throughout. The design in the lower part of the settee is the same as that of the middle part support of the arms of both the settee and chair. Fine Set of Ten English Chippendale Mahogany Antique Dining Chairs, 19th Century
FINE SET OF TEN ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY ANTIQUE DINING CHAIRS 19th Century Item# 411RVF15E This is an exceedingly attractive set of English George III dining chairs. Remaining a full pure set with two arm chairs and eight side chairs, all in outstanding condition. With deeply patinated surfaces and many layers of wax over an early finish, the mellow solid carved mahogany of the chairs positively glows. They remain in a very good state of preservation, most retaining their original blocking and with only minor normal repairs throughout. In terms of form. The chairs carefully walk between the overly ornate qualities of the Chippendale period and the more austere form of it's Neoclassical successor. Beneath the soft serpentine of the crest rail, the carefully pierced variform splats frame an interesting central motif resembling a spindle ... moreof spun wool. The stiles pull inward along the length of the back and through the foot, curved along the backside for the upper two thirds of the chair and squaring off for the backsweep of the legs. The trapezoidal seat is set with a slip seat, the chair frame raising around this with a plain and unembellished apron. The seat frame is held together with tenon-mortised joints secured by the glued corner blocks, this augmented in many joints with the addition of wooden pegs. The structure is further secured with an H-form stretcher, the medial and back brace tenoned into the sides and legs. The legs are masculine in their Marlborough form, the inner edges chamfered to slip the profile of the chair. For anyone with a period or classically designed interior. This is an exceedingly fine set of early dining chairs. Remaining sturdy and strong throughout, the chairs are a testament to the longevity of excellent craftsmanship- designed in a style that never goes out of taste, this is a set that will certainly be cherished in your home for a lifetime. FINE PAIR OF SHERATON STYLE INLAID MAHOGANY ARM CHAIRS Late 19th Century Item# 411MKP15P This very attractive pair of Sheraton style arm chairs is particularly well finished with fine inlay work throughout the surfaces. The crest and apron both feature inlaid depictions of tied drapery. Flanked at the knees by a patera inlaid medallion. The form is boxy and angular, softened somewhat by the curvature of the arm rails and the fine swelling of the reeded arm supports- their interesting profile allow them to meld quite nicely with more austere modern and classical decor. The chairs are covered in a very nice woven upholstery. For anyone passionate about more classical forms. This is a fine pair of chairs that were crafted to last many lifetimes- having a very clean overall line about them and being of a classical form, this is a pair that remains ... moretasteful and relevant for any number of modern decorative settings. Hepplewhite mahogany chairs- 2-very old estate-in storage 35 years- you have the opportunity to match your set now. it appears they are from England- recovered several times. seems they were repaired& tightened up when work was done. i'm selling them in pairs. shield back chair with carved drapery- and wheat motifs. 2- the picture show a paper tag on one of the chairs- maybe you recognize it. has a serpentine-shaped seat- high quality and stylish goods The chairs themselves are all solid mahogany frame. legs with H-shaped stretchers. i prefer you have a company pick these up to ship. Late 19th Century. Height 31inches. Depth 17inches. Length 17inches Extra Notes A good quality. Pretty pair of chairs which were probably part of a salon suite originally. Bought at an estate sale. Fabric is original and needs to be reupholstered. I was going to do it but don't have the time. Seats will need to be screwed on(easy fix! One chair has some damage at the top of the back- not readily visible.
