The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

Being offered for sale is this fabulous set of 3 Victorian Walnut& Burl Walnut Parlor Chairs with Carved Ansonia Heads attributed to John Jelliff circa 1875. Set set of chairs has a commanding presence and feature beautiful detailed carvings one expects from fine Victorian pieces of the 19th century. The 2 side chairs each measures 42 inches in total height from the floor to the very top of the back.With a total width of 21 3/4 inches, a seat width of 18 1/2 inches, seat depth of 18 inches and seat height to the floor measures 17 inches and each side chair weighs approximately 25 lbs. The arm chair measures 44 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the carved back. Arm to arm width measures 28 1/2 inches, seat width measures 20 inches, seat depth measures 22 inches and seat height to the floor measures 16 inches and this chair ... moreweighs approximately 35 lbs. These chairs are covered in a vintage peach-apricot velvet fabric with matching gimp trim. The fabric has no rips or tears but does show some light fading and some tiny speckles are on the seat of the armchair. While these chairs do have a commanding presence when scrutinized closely you can see that each chair does have some old repairs. Ie: each side chair does have a old repaired front left leg, one of the side chairs has an old repair to the hip rests and the arm chair has old repairs where the arms join to the back. Carvings on the shoulders, burl walnut accents, shaped carved half covered arms, drop carvings at the seat and tapered turned front legs with the casters intact on the front feet. The Gent's Chair measures 42 3/4 inches in height.Total width arm to arm of 23 inches, seat width of 21 inches, seat depth of 21 inches and seat height of 16 inches and this chair weighs approximately 25 lbs. Demi-cabriole legs. Dark peach velvet fabric is in decent condition with no rips or tears. There are spots with velvet missing. These are stunning parlor chairs and would add a touch of Victorian Grace to any room. If the Lady's chair is to be used for more than decoration. Pair of Victorian Parlor Chairs (c/1875) -- walnut w/ new upholstery
I inherited this set of lovely Victorian parlor chairs from my parents in 1975. They had been given to them in 1945 from the estate of two sisters who lived next door. The sisters and their parents had lived in the same house since around 1875. Thus. I believe the chairs are about 125 years old. I had the chairs completely reupholstered and recovered when I redecorated our home in 1996-97. Since then I have kept them covered with heavy cotton dust covers(see photos) which are included. The chairs were displayed on a balcony over the foyer and have not been used for seating. I'm a private seller; not a dealer. Thus. 4 Antique Victorian Maple Parlor Dining Chairs 1800s 19th Century Rococo Revival
A Set Of 4 Gorgeous Antique Victorian Parlor/Dining Chairs. The chairs are beautifully designed. With a slight balloon backing that tapers to a sleek wasteline. Victorian era. Circa 1870's-1890'S. THIS AUCTION IS FOR ALL 4 CHAIRS. This style was very popular during the Rococo revival period of the late 19th century(toward the end of the victorian era) And these are great examples of a later Rococo Design. Though it's possible they were from the earlier part of the Rococo revival period. The frames are a solid hardwood. Almost surely maple, though victorian era furniture is not my expertise, and I'm not familiar with various stains that may create a lighter look to a typically darker wood. Side Chair Dimensions: Approximate 39" tall. 19" wide, 17" deep, and the seat height is approx 19" Armchair Dimensions: ... moreApprox 41" tall. 22" wide, 18" deep, and the seat height is approx 19" Condition: These are great late 19th century chairs. In fully functional condition as is! The upholstery has no rips. Tears, or seam splits. It likely the ORIGINAL upholstery on the chairs, as it has the age appropriate wear on it. And the patina is intact on the chairs, particularly the armchair(where the patina was not disturbed due to the arms of the chair preventing pants or other clothing from contacting it during regular use) One chair has some loose joints. And the seat springs need to be redone. But nothing other than reconditioning the chair. A different chair had the top 2 inches of wood broken at some point. And has been repaired, but is hardly noticable. The armchair has a repaired break on the left arm. But is completely stable and shows no visible weakness. It has one small loose joint on the other arm. But this is very slight, just needs to be re-affixed with a furniture glue or lacquer. The chairs DID the springs worked on or possibly replaced at some point. As the underside shows reconditioning work. The fabric does have some wear. Particularly on the arms of the armcha

Nice fabric and was done at a locl prison where they did upholstery work in Lebanon Ky several years ago. No stains or holes.Or oders. I purchased these at an estate auction here in Central Kentucky. Beautiful antique Texas-Italian hand-carved parlor chairs (pair)
My great-grandfather settled in Houston. Texas in 1892. His first home was in Houston's Sixth Ward. After a seven-year-old daughter was run over by a streetcar, he took the small settlement the city gave him, bought a 10-acre farm on the other side of Buffalo Bayou, and built a two-story brownstone one mile outside Houston's city limits. The location of that home: Then-San Felipe Road. Now West Dallas. American General Building sits on part of his farm. The home was torn down in the 1950s. That section of Houston was inhabited by new immigrants. Primarily German, Jewish, and Italian. My great-grandfather's favorite neighbor was an Italian gentleman named Grasedonia. After World War I when Germans were automatically suspect, my ggf started selling off bits and pieces of his land to survive. Mr. Grasedonia purchased part of that ... moreland and built a grocery store(now Nino's) In those days. People bartered for food and services. I don't know if these chairs were part of the sale of the land, or if my ggf sold Mr. Grasedonia something else. Whatever the reason, Mr. Grasedonia gave my ggf these chairs, probably around 1920. They were already old at that time. Mr. Grasedonia had carved them himself. I am not a wood expert. So I don't know for certain that the wood is oak, but that would be my guess. The chairs do need a bit of reinforcement. If someone bounced around too much or tried to lean back(a Texas habit) they would probably break. If a person just sits in the chairs, they are perfectly fine. There is absolutely no damage to the chairs(except that they need to be reinforced) My grandmother made the beautiful needlepoint seat cushions in the 1970s. The needlepoint was simply installed on top of the original seat cushions. So the seats are a bit lumpy, as you would expect from chairs that old. You will need to arrange for freight yourself. If you provide me with a UPS or FedEx account number. I would be happy to take the chairs to a UPS or FedEx store and handle the shipment to your specs. But

For sale is a matching parlor set purchased 25 years ago from a Victorian house in Moorestown. NJ. The set consists of a large settee. Large platform rocker, a chair with arms and four chairs without arms. The style is Eastlake or Aesthetic Movement, from the 1880s- 1890s. The ornamentation on the chairs is angular with geometric incised lines and chip carving. There is also burl walnut veneer on all pieces. The condition for the set is usable but they definitely could use a trip to the upholstery shop. The structure of the chairs is good with the exception of the right arm of the platform rocker which wiggles because it is loose. For more detailed information. PAIR of Victorian Aesthetic Era Parlor Side Chairs
I've had these chairs for while and we had them upholstered matched to our interior trim color. The color is a light misty green and the upholstery picks up the light nicely. You could not get these reupholstered today for our asking price. The back upholstery is divided with pleats just like the original upholstery and the gimp is complementary. These will go just about anywhere and would be a good complementary color if you were pairing them with a settee to create a parlor set. The wood is lighter color and I am not sure of the type of wood. Chairs are 20 inches wide. 20 inches deep. The seat top is 17 inches off the floor and the chair backs are 35 1/2 high. Each still boasts it's original tapestry covering. Though this has been poorly cared for, particularly in the seats. The fine stitched upholstery is absolutely gorgeous, featuring complex floral bouquets in the center on a cream ground bordered by sprawled floral designs interwoven with foliage over a mellow teal ground. The backs may possibly be retained, depending on your personal taste, as these are in better condition than the seats. The exposed frames of ... morethe ovular backs on each piece are carefully carved with the typical twisted-rope molding that culminates at the top in a flattened bouquet of flowers. The arms are upholstered. These curving in the common acanthus hand holds over molded arm supports that join the seat frame in blades of acanthus leaves. Each corner of the chair has a sharp squared inset floral carving inside of which the wooden pins for the tenon-mortise frame joints are cleverly hidden as petals of the flowers. The antique french chairs and the antique french settee all rest over turned and tapered legs. Fluted and ring turned above the plain stump toes. This is a very fine set for collectors that require some good age in the french antiques they select- crafted with the same techniques and precision of the original pieces of the late 18th Century. This set was built to last many generations. It was a significant investment at the time, particularly the upholstery, which was stitched entirely by hand and was a very costly endeavor. 2 Antique mahogany carved side/sitting/parlor chairs
I have a pair of magnificent chairs for sale. These are solid Mahogany. The crest rail features masterfully carved cherub faces. With leaves carved at the ends. The front legs feature clawed feet carving. The backrest frame sides have fluting. I purchased these from a woman who moved here from England and brought them to the states with here. She said she purchased them from an elderly woman who had inherited them from her grandmother! I am not sure of the age, but they are certainly pre 1900. I have completely striped and refinished the wood. I tried to match the original color as best as possible. The frames were knocked apart and ever joint re glued. One chair had both seat side rails replaced, as the originals were to badly split to be salvaged. One chair also had repair work done on the front seat rail. I have up for sale a gorgeous matching pair of Antique circa 1870s or there abouts Victorian Walnut Side Chairs. Very unusual upper section featuring carved serpents. The chairs are walnut with burl veneer accents. Eastlake spoon carving and ball top finials. The chairs are in Superb Condition- appear to have been refinished and reupholstered at sometime in the past. This would have been done many years back as the lovely woman that I purchased these from was well into her 80s and probably done this back in the 50s at the time when they moved into their home. They were cherished and extremely well cared for any use wear is most meager-condition wise impossible to get any better than this. The chairs each stand approx 38" tall.Approx 19" wide across the front of the set, approx 18" from the ground to the top of the seat, approx ... more18-3/4" across the wood frame on the top of the chairs back. Perfect for a Victorian Parlor Decor, a bedroom as they are smaller in size, as a desk chair,etc. The chairs are in fabulous condition! The upholstery is gorgeous- clean- with most minimal of any wear- no stains and no odors or issues of anykind. Basically as Good As it Gets. I notice on very minor imperfection- an old crack/ repair on one of the bracket arm supports-shown in my last pic. This is superficial and not something that would be noticed unless viewing closeup with scrutiny. The chairs are strong and sturdy. The wood is in excellent shape, appear to have been refinished by someone who really knew what they were doing. Any wear is most minor- no real issues. With all this said- these are not chairs intended to be used by someone of extreme weight or size. They are basically the side of a dining room chair- smaller in size when compared to a arm chair or something of that nature. Use my measurements and your common sense. Pair Antique 1875-1890 Parlor Chairs American Walnut Carved Back
Chesapeake Treasures Hospice Consignment Store asked me to sell donations to benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake. A former appraiser for the Antique Roadshow provided the information on these chairs. Offered here are a pair of antique American walnut Victorian parlor chairs. She dates then to between 1875-1890 at which time there was a walnut blight that killed the walnut trees. They have a carved arched back and gracefully curved legs. They have been freshly upholster in a pretty green. They measure 35 inches tall. 19 inches wide and deep and the seat is 18 inches off the floor. Pictures 6 and 7 show repairs, one for each chair. The upholstery was professionally done and the chairs are sturdy. They are a lovely find. The appraiser said they were easily worth $195 each. For sale is this lovely pair of side chairs from a very old VA estate. I do not know when they were made or by whom. I believe they are Walnut but I do not know for sure. The frame of these chairs is carved and very ornate. It has flowers and roses carved into it and the back cushion is not the standard round or square but rather a unique shape. They are currently upholstered in a gold and blue striped fabric that I believe is the original fabric. The upholstery is in need of repair(see photos) One chair has a repair in the upper right corner(see photos) Dimensions of chairs are as follows: 37 inches high from floor to the top of chair; seat height is 17 1/2 inches; 18 inches deep; and 18 inches wide.
